Well I guess I will have to defer to your real life experience.  That brings up another matter.  I don't know if your ZARP has room for recruits or alliances, but I might be interested in joining forces with someone with actual experience in matters such as this.  Keep an open mind. 

I have an off the grid property in the high country.  I have solar power and heat along with geothermal heat.  I have year round water, lake access, national forest access, and plenty of defensible space.  Main building is stone, log, with lexan windows and with security doors, shutters, and roll downs over garages and porches.  I have a multiplicity of capable vehicles and know where to immediately put my hands on a large snowplow as a lead vehicle in any caravan.  With a .50 on a turret and two .30's swing mounted we are talking essentially, armor.

Watched some of Talking Dead last night (haven't really ever watched this show, but it was pretty interesting), and Kirkman made an observation along the lines of what has been discussed in this thread. Namely that if the story started with Neegan waking up in a hospital and we had followed his group all this time, the introduction of Rick as a guy who kills a bunch of your people in their sleep would sure make him look unhinged.

Maybe the entire next season will be backstory on Neegan with the cliffhanger setting a record when it hangs into a second whole season.

True, but then again, Rick is unhinged.  He's not going around bashing random people with barbwire-wrapped baseball bats, but he's clearly crazy.   

 
I just deleted Fear the Walking Dead from my dvr season pass. I don't think I can handle going right into another stupid show so quickly.

I couldn't even get thru the first season of Fear.

It was so slow and poorly written. Such a shame because they really had so many interesting directions to go when showing us the beginning of the apocalypse / the breakdown of society.

We got a family in a concentration camp. I lost interest pretty quickly.

I quit before the last episode. First time I've ever done that. Couldn't make it another 44 minutes or so.

The acting there and the story itself is 10..no make that 100 times worse..

I suffered through last season so will tune in for episode 1 of season 2.. But if it is as bad as last year I'm out and won't feel like I missed a thing.

The fact that the writers think they can sell that idea is ridiculous.

Yeah, I was really disappointed that they jumped ahead so fast. Great opportunity to get deeper into the actual spread that Walking Dead didn't cover. Instead, we just got Walking Dead; L.A.

They sure as hell could have done better with this episode - although I did like the "you're a tough one" comment after Neeghan hits Abraham the first time.  The thing that bothered me most about the episode was something silly.  When Carol is about to get shot and Morgan saves the day, it pisses me off that the writers/director were lazy and should have had the damn horse back another 50 yards.  They just had five minutes of the horse making a ton of noise clomping along the road with the horseshoe noises.  You telling me the guy shooting Carol isn't going to hear Morgan and the damn horse coming up?  That's the difference between a well-written/directed show like BB/BCS and this crap.

Sadly this was my first thought also.  Leading up to that I was thinking Morgan heard the gun shot and was going to have to sneak up on them without the horse.

If I remember right they only jumped ahead 7-8 days.  FTWD reinforced what little we did know from CDC episodes of TWD that the 'virus' spread so fast that the majority of the human population didn't have a chance.  After having some time to think about it, it doesn't make any sense for FTWD to have taken on that premise to start with. What are they going to show us that would shed any light on "the spread" from their small group's perspective that we don't already know?  FTWD is just TWD with a different group of survivors.

Which makes it a much less interesting show.

 
So, I just binged watched the last three episodes today since I am home babysitting a sick spouse. I was 25 pages or more behind, so made no effort to catch up. So if all this has been said already, apologies. I have to say, seeing Rick's group consistently act like complete and utter morons almost has me hoping they just kill that whole group off and make the show about Neegan. I mean, seriously, walking around in broad daylight. No attempt to be covert. Stopping and having 15 minute soul searching conversations in wide open spaces in the middle of enemy territory. Just horrible. Makes it very hard to root for them.

What was with spray painting the guy the Saviors had captured?  Regardless of the explanation, it has to be the dumbest scene in the history of this show.

:shrug: it was part of "The Game" ... Later when Rick and company were blocked by the pile of logs, the man thrown over the bridge to hang was "X" man.. All to let Rick and company know who they were dealing with.

I took it as getting their attention which it did.. The Whole group was sitting there looking at it going "WTF :confused: "  much like most of us viewers...

It wasn't until they dropped him off the bridge that made the viewers, and Ricks group realize what it was about.

Through that whole Neegan scene I must say that the actor who plays Rick really played a downtrodden man well.  The make-up in general was very good.  Maggie looked like she had one foot in the grave.  Darryl looked appropriately scuzzy (same-o, same-o for him).

The whole reason I (and it appears many others) tuned into the show to begin with was to watch not only the spread of the virus, but also the deterioration of the government infrastructure.  Personally, I was rather put off once they had the electric cut off so quickly.  It would have been much better if they had more news coverage over a number of days.  To just go from them driving past the hospital to an internment camp 7-8 days later was a lost opportunity and very short-sighted IMO.

p.s., I think they should have had people who were susceptible to the virus getting the virus without being bitten.  This would have gone a long way toward the rapid spread of the virus without an ability to contain it.  The show doesn't really cover the rapid spread aspect.  Those immune to the virus can only get it by being bitten.

Good point, they whiffed on the keeping the government actions so secret, etc.  

People also turn into zombies from dying, naturally about 7,000 new zombies per day under normal conditions, magnify that by many times once the crisis happens.  I think that was the point of all the riot and hospital scenes.  It's an interesting thought experiment, obviously densely populated areas like LA and Atalanta would go quick, where other places like Hershel's farm could make due for awhile.

The word ‘finale’ gives me a physical reaction because it’s the hardest day on set that I’ve ever had in my life. I never even imagined that as an actor you could have that experience. It’s one of the most raw experiences that I think any of us have ever had. Andy talks about being late to work; I didn’t want to go to work that day. 1- They didn't really have to film any of it since we didn't get to see it.

2- They now claim the script doesn't identify who got the bat.

Not to defend, because I thought the cliffhanger was an incredibly weak way to go, but JDM did say on TTD last night that while they were filming his scene that they had all of the other characters stay in position and in character the entire time they were filming, even when the camera was just on him.  Normally shows use stand-ins in those types of scenes.  He said the entire cast stayed worked up in their characters emotionally and physically for the entire 15 hours to shoot the scene (in the cold), and that it totally drained them.  So I can see where Cohan's comments could be coming from, if that's what she was talking about. 

As far as Lincoln, nothing in that script would have kept me up for more than a minute or two. 

 
Did anyone else get the feeling that the Alexandria group are the Warriors and the Negan crew is the Gramercy Riffs? I felt like the beach scene where the couple of Warriors left get surrounded by the 100 enemies. That same oh crap kind of feeling  that they are totally screwed but in this case, they really are.

Saviors making Rick and crew take the knee and kiss the ring makes perfect sense in this world. Alexandria needs to know how far down the ladder they really are to ensure their compliance with the future payoffs they will have to provide to the Saviors. Cocky Rick needs to be taken down three pegs and realize how totally out manned and out gunned they really are.

funny- the horseback cowboy bmx group made me think of Warriors right away.

 
its like the joke about the hunter that gets raped by a bear.   

the next week the hunter goes hunting again, and gets raped by the bear, again.

3rd time the bear finds the hunter and says "you aren't really here for the hunting, are you?"

except in this case, the viewer is the hunter and Gimple/Kirkman/TWD writers are the bear
