***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (4 Viewers)

Wait wait wait, some of you actually think Rick wussed out?

The whole "taking him for a ride" thing was to lay it out pretty clear to Rick that he will kill all of his people, and in a brutal way, if Rick doesn't follow his command.

Sure, Rick could have made a move and maybe even killed him, which would lead to about a 99.999999% probability that all his pals woulda been killed immediately, and then he would have been killed himself.

Yep, great plan folks.

Daryl was a prime example of "when keeping it real goes wrong".
Exactly .  Rick had no choice - he was thoughorly beaten.  There was no way out for him that doesn't involve his entire group,  including his son,  dying. I believe that Rick would have chopped off Corral's arm if Negan hadn't stopped him .

Rick is defeated.  That was the whole point of this episode . Negan now owns him and the whole group.

what was Negan before everything went to ####?  do the comics get into that?
He is seen playing ping pong in a garage with teenagers.  He is called "coach" by one of them.

So, in all that has gone down, is it a must that to satisfy fans, Rick has to pull out some level of epic bad assery and end Negan in some wicked way?

This is starting to take on a Clint Eastwood "unforgiven" vibe where you think you know who the baddest man in the fight is and he lingers too long waffling, to the point where the payoff isn't worth it.

That's not to say that Rick won't get his mojo back.  I'm sure he will,  but for the time being,  Rick is beaten, hopeless,  and helpless.  He's not playing possum waiting for his chance to strike.

It might not be Rick,  but the Alexandria group will end up winning the confrontation .

I'd like to see Maggie be the one who kills Negan.

they started coming out with his after story about 5-6 years after the comic first came out. Might be a little jaded now, based on what Kirkman originally did when creating the character because AMC and others have their hands in all of this now.

Kirkman has always said that he created Negan based off of Henry Rollins. I like the homage

Yeah, and why bother to regroup with the rest of the crew and devise a plan when you can just go try and punch the guy to death when he has 100 guns pointed at you and your friends?

Just saw a YouTube video which pointed out that right before Abe got killed he gave Sasha the piece sign they shared together when they would often say goodbye to one another. I hadn't seen that when I first watched the episode. Great touch by Gimple and/or Cudlitz

Yes.  I think if you remove the social and legal sanctions from murder (say), you would see quite a bit more of it.  Just look at the international news some time.
People that drive less than the speed limit in the left hand lane, take note of the above.

As for Rick's chances with hatchet vs. rifle, Negan left himself open on several occasions.  Particularly after Rick fetched the axe and Negan asked him to hand it back, he was holding the gun down by his side while reaching out for the axe with Rick right in front of him.  Rick easily could have planted the axe in his face before he raised the gun at that awkward angle (there wasn't even enough room in between them for him to point it at Rick) if he had wanted to kill him.  Seemed pretty clear that Rick was holding back to protect the others, not because he didn't think he could take him.
Negan made a point of telling Rick to remember what happened and what could happen.  After all the crap Rick's been through, he could imagine some really twisted crap happening if he made a move and didn't execute.

Unfortunately, yes.  I think the creators WAY overestimate the love for Rick.  Wouldn't have minded seeing him dispatched in round one with Negan.

Rick's the central character. Always has been. Last night's episode was seen through his viewpoint. There are other great characters on this show but Rick's the key figure. I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. We're seven seasons into this now and if folks haven't figured that out by now I'm not sure what to tell ya.

This show is so %$#% stupid. He takes his hand off the gun on the RV and rick does not bury the hatchet in his head??!!!  What the hell? If I am part of Rick group I would rather Rick get away and somehow plan a rescue than simply coming back again.

glad glenns dead.  he should have died awhile back and his return was beyond cheezy
I wonder if the writers originally wanted Glenn to die last season but decided it would be more dramatic if they let him survive to get killed by Negan.

Like .001% of people engage in very serious evil behavior (rape, murder, assault for the sake of it).  You really think that number significantly increases due to a reduction in population and destruction of an infrastructure?
50 million Americans are going to vote Trump, tells me all I need to know about what the apocalypse is going to be like.

"How many walkers have you killed?"

"How many people have you killed?"

"Why?"

"Who did you vote for in the 2016 Presidential election?

Guy in the background took a polaroid of the smashed heads.

Guess those are the pics Glenn saw on the wall in the Survivors base before killing people in their sleep,
Forgot about that.  good eye.
Yep, I noticed the guy taking the picture and knew it was the same as the shots in the base they stormed. I actually really liked that they added that into the background.

Good plan, Daryl.

Is Rick going to lead a rescue mission with Judith?

IMO. I think this is where its going.

I think the show and audience is kind of done with rick. Its time to let someone else step up and be the bad ###, central character.

Edit to add: I didn't read any of the books, so just speculating
I still think it is funny that people think Rick should always be a bad ### and not make bad decisions. Does anyone remember the first couple seasons? Let me list out some stuff for you for early on Rick:

1. He isn't smart or good enough of a cop to clear a scene with armed robbers and gets shot.

2. His marriage has been falling apart and as we found out later, he didn't even realize.

3. He rode a horse into Atlanta and got it eaten because he isn't very smart. He needed a pizza delivery boy to save his ###.

4. His best friend manned up and was banging his wife and being Coral's dad and until his death, it seemed like Coral respected Shane more.

5. He led his crew to the CDC where they almost died in an explosion.

6. He left an elementary school girl in the woods because he was scared of two zombies and we all know what happened to her.

I still never understood why everyone thinks Rick was ever presented as a complete bad ### who won't #### things up. I think that is part of the fun. He can go bad ### and bite a guys throat off, but he'll also lead his crew right into dinner @ the cannibals and have to be saved by an abused woman who ends up being 10x the man that he is.

Rick is a true badass when he has Carol. His little, murderous guardian angel

Is there any way to "unsubscribe" to a thread?

I keep seeing the updates in my previously posted threads and of course I see the lines about Ezekiel.

I don't want to know there's someone named Ezekiel...and I damned sure don't want to know that he's an adversary to Negan.

I try to stay out of the thread because of the constant need for some of you guys to divulge some "inside" knowledge like you're special or something...but that thread search still shows these damn updates.

This has been shown in all of the commercials for the show, so no one has really given any real spoilers about Ezekiel that I have seen yet.

Yeah and Glenn being the only one who saw the pictures was nice foreshadowing.

As far as the guy who's upset I mentioned Ezekiel, my apologies. I didn't realize that the Comic-con trailer was considered a spoiler, especially since it's several months old. But again my apologies for mentioning him. I don't know if he becomes an adversary for Negan. All I said was it's my hope he does become one and becomes an ally for Rick.

He has been in all the previews on AMC for this season.  And he's got a tiger.

Lucky Carol and Morgan didn’t have to deal with all that Negan nonsense. So where are they? We got our first look when AMC released a clip from next week’s episode of The Walking Dead.

“The people here, they call this place the Kingdom,” Morgan tells an injured Carol as he her pushes her wheelchair past crops and smiling, waving strangers. “They’ve been helping you, so I’ve been helping them.”

Of course, we also see dudes in armor with spears as Morgan warns Carol about the eccentric nature of their new host. “He’s called King Ezekiel… He does his own thing.” He certainly does.

Seems the "cliff hanger" worked:

Negan’s victim was revealed to 17 million “Walking Dead” fans with the show’s Sunday Season 7 premiere. That’s 16 percent more than the comparable sixth season start in 2015, and it nearly matches the series record.

:pokey:
Not a surprise. People can ##### and moan all they want but cliffhangers work. They almost always do. There's a reason why they've been used again and again since Dallas first shot JR back in the day. Still can't believe how butthurt people got over this one. Oh well, just glad it's over and we can move on toward what looks like another amazing season to come.

It definitely got me to watch it live, not wanting to risk getting spoiled by Twitter, word of mouth, etc. Pretty much the only non-sports I watch live these days is Game of Thrones. Episode 2 and beyond though I'll watch DVRed.

I think I've read before that their week 2 numbers usually have a pretty sizeable fall so it will be interesting to see how that shapes up.

Doesn't make it less of a #### move.
