***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (2 Viewers)

I liked the first episode, but like everyone else wondered why Rick didn't mow down that crew and why Gabriel didn't do it inside the room.

I think the Talking Dead was better than the show. Some great appearances there. Although I have to wonder what Maggie was drinking in the green room. He asked her a question and she rambled on and made NO sense.

I finished the first season and never went back.  Is it worth watching?
Season 2 got a lot worse, but season 3 was better.

It's still not very good, but that's just a statement on how bad TWD has gotten.

Season 8 premiere down 35% from last year's.

They've teased too many people for too long.

And this is how the show ends. Not with a bang...but a whimper.
It’s worth pointing out that versus last year’s midseason premiere, Sunday’s hour rose 5 percent among total viewers. And this past weekend’s return also out-drew the back-half of Season 7 in terms of average night-of viewership. So there’s that.
Very few shows can match record ratings Walking Dead had a couple seasons ago and stay at that level..

I would think 90% of the shows on right now would kill for those "poor" ratings.

At some point I recall Rick telling his crew  ... "only one has to die" (Negan).

... seems maybe the plan is to get Negan's people to turn on him somehow ... without waging a heads up war against a far superior force.

So shoot the windows and send in a herd of walkers ... but don't actually shoot any people.

Seems silly but I'm hoping the writers have some angle they are working that explains what we saw episode one ... because if they don't, it just comes across as really lazy writing.

Hope Gabby wore his brown pants. hehe. I would think Gabriel is the bait that Negan pushes out the front door of the trailer while he sneaks out the back.

No way. They'll end the show with Carl sporting a black eye patch and overseeing a community, like the Governor. Showing that everyone eventually becomes hardened or bad.
OK, then have Lucille meet Judith ...

that girl obviously has some rare growth disorder anyway ... 18 month old with the body of a 4 year old?

Strange episode. I lost count of how many times neegan should have died.  Tons of people with guns who want him dead refuse to shoot him.  Dumb

ratings will continue to go down because they don't correct the poor writing. faster pace may help, but like others have said the damage has been done and the audience burned too many times. i am not sure how long each actor/actresses contract is but not sure how long they can hold onto them.

and it would have been amazing if they followed the original story more and didn't sign on with such a crappy organization like AMC. The ratings would have been phenomenal and they would have created such good will with the fanbase

I was under the impression this was the last season, but they are talking about another 100 episodes. No way. In another 30 episodes, the dialogue will be cheesier than a early 80's porn flick. Time to queue up the bom chicka bom, bom, and get on with it and end this thing with some dignity (and a violent money shot of Neegan going down).

I have absolutely no idea what the purpose of anything going on 20 minutes into this episode.  Would paying more attention during the first minute have helped, because I was a bit distracted when it started?

Yeah, its  like they're trolling at this point.

1/2 expecting to find out at the mid-season finale that the whole thing was a dream sequence.

You guys are missing it. It's all about the inanity of life; it's all nonsense, gobbledy#### and this show is flat out nailing it. But you dopes can't see the forest for the malaise. Or the general for the trees. Cream buns and doughnuts and fruitcake with no nuts so good you could go nuts. No, now.

i think the strategy is just let things go so absurd people can't bring them all up. Like no one even mentioned all the bullets used tonight yet. so i guess the show counts that as a win

i can't remember a show where i wanted so many of the "good guys" to get killed. Tara, Morgan, etc.
The shooting fight with the hotrodded cars... No idea who was who until they showed one the of the three goodguy recognizable characters. Otherwise it was just a bunch of people shooting at each other at close range... Really didn't know or care who died.

Also... Marksmanlike head shot after head shot- but negan and his generals are lined up on a balcony right in front of them and the swingannamiss...other than windows. Because they hate windows.

Bullets? C'mon. Mullets got it all covered.

So among the confusing things...

The compound that Rick and Daryl were infiltrating (for guns) was also the same one Daryl was held captive in? Wasn't Daryl held captive in the main base where Negan is? Also, why were Carol & King Ezekiel so intent on catching up to one guy who was gonna "warn the others"? Warn them of what? Don't the Saviors already know of the war?

Interesting you didn't...  OK, I did watch season 1 twice completely through.. But I figured most would remember Rick giving Morales a gun and wish him luck as he and his family split from Rick.
Season 1 was seven years ago. I vaguely remember him now but didn't last night.

 Not same place.. It was just another room setup like the one he was held in that brought back memories of what he went through.

They are attacking the outposts.. Negan is about confused as us right now what the overall plan is. Last we saw Negan was surrounded by Walkers, and his lieutenants locations are unknown. So who knows if the word got out about the attack on Negan's Location or not..

I like the plan outside the first outpost.. Shoot to kill and keep them pinned down until the dead changed over to Walkers thus completing the job.

Still REALLY amazed by the amount of ammo being used and the carelessness of it.. Better ways to keep them pinned down rather then shoot like it is a PC Game where there is endless Ammo.

I think the confusion we are seeing is exactly the plan against the Saviors.. Attack multiple locations at the same time so as to confuse them on where to counter attack. Morgan going into "Clear" mode was a Great part.. And to see his internal fight of "Clear" vs. "Let live" come to a battle there at the end with Jesus bringing him out was very good.

Morgan to archer woman:  Can you hit the guard(s) without them firing a shot?

Archer woman to Morgan:  I wouldn't count on it.

Two guards standing there... *thwoop thwoop* two in the head within a split second.  Cartoon Robin Hood couldn't shoot that fast!

Morgan (clear mode) to Morgan (all life is precious mode):  Dat girl good.

Usually, I love it when there is a lot of action in this show.  Whether it is man vs. man or man vs. walker, having some intense action typically gets me all hard.  Unfortunately, I was flaccid throughout.  It was confusing and rather uninspiring.  Best part was when the tiger took out that one guy.  Other than that, it was the most ho-hum action segment I feel I've seen in this show.  So much action so little thrill.

Who knows.  Not sure I can take another scene with the King.  Also, they didn't seem to be in much of a hurry.

The one gunfight reminded me of this.

So your saying seeing Morgan go back into "Clear" mode didn't get you :excited: ??

All I kept thinking was "Now THAT is the Morgan we knew!!!"

How about when the millennial girl leader just stood there and leaned back against the car waiting for the walker to make his way over to her and start biting her neck?  Looked like a poorly executed WWE move where they are all a bit off time to really sell the move.  Awkward.

She looked 17 years old and she was in charge of the outpost.

"Millennials, amirite?"

Yeah, 40 people having a gun fight in a 50x 50  area for like 45 minutes is absurd (even if you totally discount the ridiculous nature of all the wasted ammo in a world with finite ammo)

i like this show overall but i didn't like last nights episode.   just not very well done and too many dumb scenarios
Seems they(Directors/writers) need to find a middle ground..

last year was boring more times then not because they'd spend an entire week or two with one "group" and forget the other groups.

This year they are trying to show us all the groups within one hour and at times it becomes confusing on who is with which group at which outpost...

And the part with Rick and Daryl got a little confusing.. Daryl sees the Handcuffs and dog food and has a "PTSD" episode, and then Rick killing the guy and finding a Baby in the room made you wonder.. Was the Baby really there, or was Rick having a breakdown.. and then they moved over the Baby and went to the meetup with Morales..

Just too much all at once.. leave you feeling :whoosh: until you can either re-watch the episode or read a recap on it.

Nothing got me about that episode.  Well, like l said earlier, I was digging me some tiger action.  I'm a big fan of animal rampages.

I can't open youtube at work but I can imagine it being the one in Police Squad (?) where they show each side individually shooting at the other side and then they show them together and they are like 5 feet apart.  This episode had that vibe to it.
bingo
