Everyone talks about the governor being weird and evil, but I think it's Rick and his group who are the bad guys. The farm was doing just fine until they showed up. Same for the prisoners. Seems like Rick brings death and destruction in the name of safety. Just seeing the governors community it seems like he's a way better leader than anyone we've seen to date on this show.

Having read the books I've always had that feeling.

Maybe maybe not put yourself in the shoes of the prisoners. Here you are safe and secure when all of a sudden a guy walks into your home telling you it's his now. Can't really blame Razor Ramon for trying to take him out. There were also parts in season two when Rick thought about taking over the farm.I'm just saying it's a matter of perspective.

The prisoners were locked in a room and a freezer full if #### and piss with no contact with or info about the outside world. . No one coming to their rescue. They'd eventually starve and kill and eat each other and turn into walkers.

I counter with as soon as food started getting low they would find a way to escape and live perfectly happy lives (as happy as can be) on the outside.Your conclusion is just as likely and probably less likely than mine.

Not even close. You think they just sat on their hands for 8 months without trying to escape? That's absurd.

And yet that's exactly what happened. The writers made it perfectly clear that the prisoners were just sitting around waiting to be rescued.

I don't think they ever said anything about not trying to escape. It's highly unbelievable that those guys sat on their hands for eight months in the cafeteria. Much more believable that they couldn't get out and had no choice but to wait in there.

I am still loving the series and I never read the comics. What I judge a good series by is during the week I will find myself thinking about the show and saying, "Now that is what I would have done here or there."

However, I think the Michonne character is not one I am interested in at all. She brings nothing to the table and frankly the actress playing her seems to have one range of emotion "look angry and like you smelled something bad".

I am hoping the action continues because I can see this thing settling for 3-4 episodes of soap opera type material with very few walkers included.

Do you think maybe she's like that because she's emotionally disturbed and the show will develop her character over time? Frankly, I would expect most people in that situation to be like her.

I have to reiterate what has been said countless times in this thread...if you find yourself typing anything resembling the following, "...in the comics, they..." TAKE THAT TO THE OTHER THREAD.I don't even like watching previews for the next episode...but knowing there was a governor character coming a full year in advance really bummed me out when I finally met/saw his character. And all this damn Tyresse discussion is tiresome...why bring that here?If I'm by myself in this thinking...then I apologize...I just see a distinct line of talking about this show and speculating what can/will happen versus anything comic book based...just keep it separated please.

I disagree strongly with this. Differences between the comics and television show should be fair game for discussion. I mentioned earlier that that comics did a much, much better job introducing Woodbury and the Governor and getting them "connected" to the prison than what the television show is doing. There are no spoilers involved in that argument at all, so you can just put up with it.

That statement may have been harmless but a large portion of the time they aren't.

Talking dead is probably OK.. I say "Probably" because as I found out the hard way( ahem, talking about the Governor last year ).. Previews should be put in Spoiler tags as some here make it a point to not watch the previews and get "slightly" if you talk about it..

I agree with the posts about keeping the TV show comments in this thread and the comic book comments in the other thread. There's certainly enough differences between the two so stuff posted may not be direct spoilers but even a possible hint of what might happen isn't something I personally want to see as someone who avoids spoilers.

I think The Talking Dead should be fair game since it's a show primarily about the TV show. There's some overlap with the comics but 99% of the discussion on the show is about the TV show.

How does Woodbury have electricity? I saw a few solar panels but only enough to power a street light or two.

I didn't notice generators, but that's probably the easiest explanation. That requires an assumption that there is still plenty of gasoline available though.

Personally, I hope they're using the zombies somehow. Burning them like coal could work. Further out there would be harnessing their brain energy (aquarium thing is functional?) or their strength (hamster wheels, treadmills, or a "wheel of pain" like in Conan the Barbarian).

Razor wasn't exactly welcoming. As prisoners they're who people have a right to be worried about, not a group that includes an old man and a pregnant woman.

Of course he wasn't welcoming would you be once you found out there was nothing on the outside? I would be not. You like me would probably start talking stock of everything you have and a large pushy group like them would not sit well with me or any sane person.I know Razor trying to take Rick out looked bad, but Rick wasn't welcoming himself. Practicably telling razor to pack his #### up and move out. Of course Razor did what he was told. He was out gunned and when he had a chance to take back his home he took it and lost half his head.

Hearshal lost his farm and now his leg.

Rick is only focused on his son and the unborn baby. Screw everyone else. They are just an ends to the mean.

What has Rick done other than to protect the group - everybody, not just his kid? He can be a #### but I don't think you can question his intentions which are to help the group survive. The Governor may have built a comfortable little town but it's not out of altruistic intentions of creating a utopia for people.

Agreed. And I think Michonne knows this which is one of the reasons why she's skeptical about everything. The Governor is smart enough to realize Michonne is someone who could be a valuable asset or a formidable foe. It'll be interesting to see what he does when she turns down his offer to join forces - you certainly have to think she'll turn it down.

i might be making this entirely up, but for some reason i think they talked about doing a back story of her on those webisopdes they did the other year with the story about the girl with half her body in the field. but i might just be imagining that. Either way, I am sure people will ##### and complain if they took time out of the current story to explain some of Michonne's past, so they can't win. I am sure they will touch on something at some point though, with 16 episodes in the season they should have some time. Considering they spent a ton of episodes hanging out on the farm, i am guessing they will touch on it at some point

I'm not saying your wrong. But from what the writers tell us is they (the prisoners) where waiting for rescue. For all we know they did escape only to see a yard full of zombies that Rick and his group cleared out and they went back. In the end it's a fill in the blank part of the story that doesn't really matter, but fun to talk about.

Wrong. I've read the comics and I've read what the writers have said they are aiming for in the governor. They are not shying away from what he is in the comics. So to be fair, you are coming from more of a place of the unknown. Whereas a person who has read the series has a better understanding of where things are headed. You got a glimpse of who the governor is. He killed military men without provocation, he keeps a collection of zombie heads in his private room. He killed and injured pilot (or had him killed).

I have a feeling Tyreese is the black mercenary dude that Michonne shared looks with a few times in the episode. He will end up befriending Andrea and Michonne and help them escape.

Not just zombie heads. He had Lt. Welles' head in the tank too. So that means he executed him, chopped off his head and put it in the tank with the zombie heads.

Everyone talks about the governor being weird and evil, but I think it's Rick and his group who are the bad guys. The farm was doing just fine until they showed up. Same for the prisoners. Seems like Rick brings death and destruction in the name of safety. Just seeing the governors community it seems like he's a way better leader than anyone we've seen to date on this show.

Having read the books I've always had that feeling.

Rick never murdered people in cold blood.

Maybe maybe not put yourself in the shoes of the prisoners. Here you are safe and secure when all of a sudden a guy walks into your home telling you it's his now. Can't really blame Razor Ramon for trying to take him out. There were also parts in season two when Rick thought about taking over the farm.I'm just saying it's a matter of perspective.

Razor wasn't exactly welcoming. As prisoners they're who people have a right to be worried about, not a group that includes an old man and a pregnant woman.

Of course he wasn't welcoming would you be once you found out there was nothing on the outside? I would be not. You like me would probably start talking stock of everything you have and a large pushy group like them would not sit well with me or any sane person.I know Razor trying to take Rick out looked bad, but Rick wasn't welcoming himself. Practicably telling razor to pack his #### up and move out. Of course Razor did what he was told. He was out gunned and when he had a chance to take back his home he took it and lost half his head.

What has Rick done other than to protect the group - everybody, not just his kid? He can be a #### but I don't think you can question his intentions which are to help the group survive. The Governor may have built a comfortable little town but it's not out of altruistic intentions of creating a utopia for people.

He needs the group to protect his kids. So he puts up with them but as soon as anyone gets in the way, Merle, the prisoners, Hershal and forming a dictatorship at the end of season 2. The path that Rick leads is to destruction.And as far as the Guvnor you really have no idea of what his intentions are at this point and neither do I.

Wrong. I've read the comics and I've read what the writers have said they are aiming for in the governor. They are not shying away from what he is in the comics. So to be fair, you are coming from more of a place of the unknown. Whereas a person who has read the series has a better understanding of where things are headed. You got a glimpse of who the governor is. He killed military men without provocation, he keeps a collection of zombie heads in his private room. He killed and injured pilot (or had him killed).

I've read the comics. In fact I'm all up to date on issue 104. This is the Walking Dead TV series thread so I'm trying to stick with the TV series universe. Not bring in a holier than though I've read the comics and you don't know what you're talking about attitude. In fairness to Rick, though, we don't know yet what the Governor's "leadership" really entails. We can guess it's likely sinister in some fashion so be careful what you wish for.

Since you've read the comics you know then what the governor is about. The shows writers have stated that they will not shy away from that and will even potentially ramp it up where they can. It's going to be interesting to see where that takes us on the show. My personal opinion is that I'd rather run with Daryl than anyone.

I saw him gun down an entire squad of soldiers in cold blood and him sitting in a room staring at tanks of severed heads. In TV terms the Governor is faux affably evil.Rick hasn't killed anyone who didn't need killing. Hershel was nice enough to let them stay on the property but he should have known that situation wasn't going to work long. Once he let them onto the property he should have let them stay in the house instead of being zombie bait.

Everything in this world ends in destruction - don't lay that all at Rick's feet. When he showed up these jokers were defending themselves with a tin can alarm system.

But this thread should be for discussion of the SHOW. And what we know of the SHOW is what has been SHOWN. Pretend like there isn't already existing source material, like Breaking Bad, or Dexter, or whatever.

That's how some of us would like to interact with the SHOW. As it is presented. This thread should be inclusive of everyone who is watching the SHOW.

That seems like strange logic to me.I have no dog in this fight (I have not read the comics, but I have read a synopsis of them), but it just seems like rude behavior. People will risk spoiling it for the TV-only crowd because the comic book guys can't be bothered to check both threads?

I don't understand how it's rude to ask to keep this thread about the show and the other thread about the comic.

I realize you guys don't think it a big deal but for me it was...hearing of a character called "The Governor" last year...told me there's going to be an entire town or compound or military faction that is run by a "governor" and without trying my mind wandered and could see it would be a utopia but with dark secrets and hidden evils. Eventually we'll have Rick's group have to deal with this "other" camp...that's just not cool. I didn't want to know that...if I did, I would've read the damn comics and read everything I could find online that gives me spoilers about this show. That...to me...is the rude part.

Thankfully, I can't glean much from a name like "Tyresse"...other than he's going to be black...and some of the other tidbits that have dropped about his character in the comic.

I just don't need that nonsense...and I'm asking if you do talk about something that is in the comics (namely places and people)...please put it in spoiler.
