This show was always intended to be a show about what happens after a 'Dawn of the Dead' type movie. You can only wring out so much drama from the zombies.I think the show is ten times better than the first two seasons. It is finally hitting it's stride.
Your first statement is probably correct. I never read the comics or anything and have no clue. I just know what I was hoping to see and this last episode wasn't it. I understand most folks are probably digging the shift. I'm just not one of them. No biggie. If it ends up going the direction I fear it will, then I'll just take it off the DVR schedule and move on to something else. Won't be the first show I've done this too, and certainly wouldn't be the last.

I was catching up on the DVR. The episode after the birth of the baby was so absurd, I just deleted all episodes and canceled the series. This is nowhere near the show I started watching in S1. The scene where Rick is just smashing zombies in a fit of rage and black ninja let's those zombies outto ninja slash them...ugh was that bad.

In his defense, in the comic he was porking andrea, not surprised that they removed that from the show, but I was very disappointed they killed him off way too early imo.Favorite character in the comic, imo the best actor on the show. Made sense killing him off when they did, he was always Rick's voice of reason - Just didnt like it.

Did anybody else get a "Brought to you by KFC" commercial right after they threw the guy out on to the porch and the walkers ripped him open?

:X

Don't open unless you've read the comics:

Yes, Daryl dies in the season finale while saving Rick's group. I found spoilers online.
Um, I don't think Merl and Daryl are characters in the comics at all. Maybe you should just say don't open unless you're okay with spoilers?

Spoiler, while a spoiler, has nothing to do with the comics.
Yes, that was in really poor taste to label that spoiler as a "comic" spoiler, as it had absolutely nothing to do with the comics. I don't mind the spoiler being posted, but the post should be edited to say it is spoiler, period, with no connection to the comics, as there are many comic book readers like myself that still don't want the TV show spoiled.I clicked on it reading the comics, yep, that sucked. :goodposting: Thanks a lot Borat. Revenge for all the spoiling the comic book guys have been doing to the TV-only guys. In your faces. :bye:

Not really the same, Borat. It would be like someone posting that something wasn't a spoiler if you saw last week's episode, and yet it was an explicit spoiler. Not to mention it trolls those that have read the comics but have never posted a spoiler. Bad taste, joking or not. And if not, that was a $*%# move.

Glad I started reading this thread from the bottom up. Thanks for the heads up, Maelstrom.

Another awesome episode. Super intense. This showdown looks like it's going to be awesome. I loved the bass-heavy music they used at the end.

As I understand it, the actor decided to leave the show so they had to kill him off.

I have my first nitpick in series history:

Merle calling Maggie "the farmer's daughter." How could he have known that? He hadn't talked to her yet and she surely wasn't going to tell him that nor was Glenn. That was a pretty correctable mistake they let slip in.

Overall a great episode. The tension was off the charts everywhere. LOVED the music at the end. Thunderous pulsating beat just amped up the tension even more. Cannot wait for Rick and the Governor to get face to face.

Oh and nice thong Andrea.

kindof a weird episode

not sure I understand the reluctance of giving up the prison. Glenn and Maggie wouldnt know they were bad and plus you would think Darryl could control Merle to a degree.

who wears thongs in a zombie apocalypse? Not sure and I dont really care she is hot.

I agree. I would have told Merle right away when he found them. "Merle! Great to see you! Your brother's fine, you should come see him!"I'd be a lousy spy.

Merle shot at you and took you prisoner. Safe to say he's up to no good. Why invite that into your home? Plus Glenn knows Merle's unhinged to begin with and he knows the history he has with Rick. No reason to intentionally allow your friends to be introduced to that, especially with a baby there now.

Does anyone remember who told Michonne that the group was at the prison? Andrea didn't know, did Glenn and Maggie mention it while they were lugging formula out of the grocery store and she was listening from behind the car?

:goodposting: No way do you give Merle anything.. The guy is as :loco: as they come.

Well they knew about the farm from Andrea, so it's possible that she also mentioned Herschel, Maggie, etc.

It seems as if Andrea told them a lot about the Farm group, so if Merle got her name then he could pretty easily know she was the farmer's daughter.

Who told Merle her name? He hadn't talked to Maggie yet and safe to say Glenn wouldn't have told him. I don't see any way he could have known who she was.

He may have been assuming from knowing Glenn and from what Andrea told him (maybe she said Glenn was hooking up with the farmer's daughter, etc.) It jumped out to me as well right away, and while I was able to find potential explanations, it did seem like sloppy writing to have that in there at all. It doesn't bring anything to the story.

That was my take too. Easily correctable mistake that slipped through. Didn't damage the episode in any way but it definitely jumped out at me when I heard it.

I don't have a problem with Merle calling her a farmer's daughter. He showed his racism (not that the farmer's daughter comment was racist) when he made the comment about T-dog, and then when he brought in the zombie to eat Glenn he said the zombie would be hungry again in an hour... a shot at Glenn being Asian. Racist, or at least stereotypical from Merle. So it could be that he just called her a farmer's daughter because she looked like one. He could have also called are the "girl next door", or something. I didn't think it took away from the scene.

I didn't catch that the first time. :lmao: :lmao:

I don't know what that means.

Also, he could have heard them talking outside like Michonne did. I don't recall the conversation, but Glenn could have used her name. I don't think it's a huge deal.

I assumed it had something to do with how Chinese food never sticks with you very long?

Most of the whining and complaining in the universe is contained within this thread.
And yet you're whining and complaining about it.
I dont complain or nitpick shows I religiously watch, which is what a lot of people do in here. Why some people still watch is beyond me.
It's not possible to watch and enjoy a show yet still find fault with it?
In before...
"It's a show about zombies."
but but but but... It's not really about the zombies, but about the human relationships and the breakdown of society...

Also, he could have heard them talking outside like Michonne did. I don't recall the conversation, but Glenn could have used her name. I don't think it's a huge deal.
Like nearly all of the nitpicks I've seen about this show it wasn't. Just jumped out at me because it was sloppy writing and so I thought I'd join the dark side and complain about something for a change. :D

I hear ya.

My only complaint about the episode was the Michonne/Rick scenes when they brought her inside. Obviously the chick brought a basket of baby food for a reason. She's been shot, and is giving you info on your friends, yet Rick's reaction is to grab her wound to try to force more out of her? I get that Rick has sort of gone off the deep end, but that encounter just seemed forced to me. Michonne's wooden acting didn't help.

I'm excited to see where they leave things off in the mid season finale though.

heard there was a falling out because the actor backed the showrunner who got fired...so they wrote him out

I don't understand why the Gov hasn't killed Maggie and Glenn yet. He's got to know that Glenn will kill him the first instant he possibly can; these two will never integrate into their town.

If they aren't potential citizens, they are hostiles, and the Gov doesn't seem like the type to keep hostiles alive.

The previews would seem to indicate he's pointing in that direction. There is a something to be said though about keeping them alive as possible bargaining chips. One of the grunts said that to Merle. They don't know what they're up against with the prison group. Merle knows who some of them are but for all he knows they could've rounded up a bunch of ex-Marines or soldiers to join forces with them. Having a couple of hostages around could come in handy.

They covered this in the episode I thought, but just in case it was in the preview I'll slap it in a spoiler:
In case Rick and co. come looking for them, it gives them bargaining power.

The group sure didn't leave many people that can fight back at the prison. If any walkers or anyone from Woodbury shows up, they are done.
