My biggest problem with this episode is that Rick would even contemplate giving Michonne to the Governor.

I thought it was odd that she is just merrily going back to the Guv's with Merle instead of fighting him at every step.

Now it makes sense with what they just did, but complying like that is not true to her character.

They don't have a clue about what to do with Michonne or how to do it. They never did. And it started with casting.

Completely disagree with you and agree with Christo. Michonne knows Merle and that fighting him at every step is futile. I haven't read the comics, but I think when they introduced her, her backstory (probably from the comics) was that she was a smart person. She had to bide her time and wait for an opportunity. She took the opportunity when he let her by telling her about himself. Based on the Talking Dead show with the actor playing Merle, it sounded like Merle was never planning to give her to the governor and maybe she knew that as well. Pretty sure both Merle and Michonne know that if Merle hands her over, they both end up dead. Merle told Rick the governor was not to be trusted and would kill them all, so I do think he took this opportunity to take Michonne and have her help him kill the governor. Maybe his whole intent was to keep his brother safe because he knew the governor wouldn't leave the prison alone.

I suppose she was just biding her time when the zombies were closing in around her, but she chose to sit and wait for Merle to redeem himself and save her because then she knows he'd let her go after they got away. There's no direction to her character, no development, no consistency, no depth, no personality... nothing but a scowl.

She bided her time at Woodbury as well. Sure, she scowled a lot and was more T-dog than main character for a while, but she felt out the governor before doing anything. She was checking out the blood on the truck after the national guard run-in and figured out the governor way before dumb ### Andrea. Could you elaborate on her all over the map? Seems like someone who doesn't open up, but is a good person and will open up (Andrea and now Rick's crew) once she "trusts" them. We saw a note on this when she told Andrea her walkers in tow deserved what they got. Seems like she started as a guarded person because of that and I am not sure I have seen anything that shows that she hasn't been consistent. She didn't trust the governor, hence the constant scowl.

What evidence do you have of her being a good person? She took care of Andrea (while she still had zombie pets) and was nice to Carl for 5 minutes of an episode. She used Rick's group to get her back into Woodbury and then left them all alone (and screw the plan that other people's lives depended on) to go find the Governor for her own revenge. She was scowling when she was first onscreen and has been scowling since, no matter where she is or with who she's with. She scowls and looks mad so much that any time she doesn't, it's obvious that they're using her as some sort of device, like with Carl or with Merle in the car. Scowling when someone should be, ike when she didn't trust the Guv, isn't the problem. She scowls persistently and 99% of the time, imperviously to the scenario around her.

She was in a bad position with her hands tied. Her odds of getting away by fighting Merle and she decided to Jedi mind trick him before attempting to attack him.

Oh, her hands were tied. Probably best to not try and get them free (how well can a one handed guy tie knots anyways?) and just wait for Merle to let her go free.

Since Maggie is now engaged and the season finale looming, it's safe to assume one of Chinese kid or Maggie gets it next week. I'm saying Chinese kid. Well it better be the ### #### Chinese kid.

Or maybe the just kill off Herschel and play the old "it's time for you to take care of my girls" angle.

Merle had some good lines in the beginning, when I thought Rick was setting him up (like Superman doing it to Luthor in the crystal fortress) by telling Merle the Michonne Plan. One of them was "You're cold as ice, Officer Friendly".

Someone said it earlier, after Rick gave his speech and walked away, it was like dropping the mic and walking offstage waiting for his groupie (Beth).

If Daryl dies, I hope it's because he needed 6 shots and only had 5 arrows and refused to carry a pistol.

The Gov's assault on the prison is going to go exactly as good as...

Why didnt Rick plan on ambushing the gov and his crew or why didnt Merle propose that to him?

There was a brief moment where Merle was looking away and her sword was right there on his right shoulder. She was still tied, but I expected her to grab the sword, spin around and lop his head off, in one swift ninja move.

Agreed, I posted that last week or the week before (it may have been a preview) that I couldn't stand seeing Rick talk to Herschel about it because he even said he didn't think there was any reasoning with the governor. I "understand" it now because of what they did with Merle, but it was definitely forced.

Really? What evidence do I have of her being a good person? Pretty much everything she has done on the show has been good. Yes, she went to go get vengeance, but even in that scene, she went to go save the girl she thought the governor had locked up. You are really stretching it here. I get that you don't like her character and don't like the scowling, but geez, she has been on her own since who knows when, so her social skills weren't great and the only person she had as a friend for another series of months was Andrea. Don't think that will make you scowl? She instantly distrusted the governor and she didn't trust Rick either (he didn't treat her great when they first met and didn't trust her until Carl). Based on her backstory last week, pretty sure she isn't trusting of men until she knows them better.That said, you didn't elaborate on all over the map. I think her character, while not the best to some, has been at least consistent and not all over the map.

I hope they kill him off. Obviously, I don't think they can kill all of Rick's crew, so it would be nice to tie up a story line. It isn't like Morgan coming back, getting the governor to come back for revenge in season 6 would be like the show Heroes when Sylar should have died at the end of season 1. When he didn't, it pretty much ruined the show as he was popular and they didn't want to kill him off. Killing the governor would let the show continue to the next adventure instead of always looking back.Also, the nice thing about this show is that unfinished business doesn't matter. Anyone can die at any moment, so you can't dwell on anything.

Just a thought, but I'm 50/50 on it. I don't think Rick would have let Daryl go look for them if that was the plan all along and I'm not convinced that Rick is quite that manipulative, but...

1. Michonne probably wouldn't normally go searching through zombie infested parts of the prison with just merle.

2. She sure didn't struggle after merle tied her up

3. She barely talks all season then decides to chat up merle about his past

4. she chooses to go back to the prison even after merle told her that rick was giving her to the gov

It's a stretch but I could almost see Rick behind this.

That would actually be good to see Milton run Woodbury as maybe that place does actually become more of a haven. That said, if the governor dies, I don't think we will see much of Woodbury in the future.My death list:

I am still going with my trap idea above and Rick's crew bolting. A head on fight or even a rebel type fight wouldn't be good for them and I can't see the show killing off all of Carol, Beth, Maggie, the baby, Carl, Glen and Herschel, which would happen in a real fight. They are too outgunned and outmanned and I am not sure Daryl gets back to them in time. I still think that somehow in their run, Herschel/Glen will die, because of the engagement and Herschel's prayer. I think Herschel is going to do something to keep them all safe.

Did anyone else notice that the son (pretty sure he said "Dad" as Tyrese held the guy over the zombies) in Tyrese's foursome was the one who took the shot for the governor? On the Talking Dead they showed Merle in makeup and that kid lying down with entrails hanging out. The kid was talking about having to lay there, which was pretty funny looking as his guts were strewn all over. I think he was the one that Merle was eating.

By the way, this is about as tame a spoiler since Buckna and Hulk kind of disproved them, but I will still spoiler my reply.

Agreed with Buckna, they tend to bring people on the Talking Dead who are important for that week's episode. Andrea played some big roles in the past weeks trying to broker a deal. Yes, the prisoner and Merle were on when they died, but last night it was both Merle and the Governor because they had the big standoff. I think they will bring people that die on the show as they were obviously key to that week, but there have been lots of guest who didn't die. Also, the Governor was the announced visitor like Daryl next week, so pretty good chance he lives. If the Governor dies, I would bet he comes on at the end of the show like Merle did.

Yeah, that was great. Hated seeing him go down, but it was a good ending for him with Daryl putting him down.

As Legolas, er, Darryl was searching for Merle among the bodies, I was sure he was going to come on Merle being eaten by a Zombie. Then when he got to Merle, before we knew it was Merle, I realized that no, it was going to be Merle eating someone. I thought that was a great way to show how sick the govenor was, that he didn't kill him with a head shot because he wanted him to turn into a "biter".

I noticed he was looking a little scraggly last night. That scene with him and Glen was about as awkward as it comes. Agree on Herschel, I think he may be the stay behind guy at the prison while the rest try and escape. I would love to see the Governor go into the cell block and Herschel releases a herd and smoke bombs (try shooting zombies in the head when you can't see and somehow blocks there escape. All kinds of awesome.

Should be a good finale and I have a feeling it will go very differently than most of us expect. Even so, my guess is Rick's group does abandon the prison and leaves it as a trap somehow. When he said we are going to go back to voting and stuff, as I recall Herschel & maybe Glenn (said they were low on food & supplies?) were both very pro-packing up and leaving a few episodes ago. As far as who dies, it does seem like the Govenor could make it into next season (lot of things need to be tied up as someone said.) My guess is Milton discovers Andrea, frees her (probably gets killed by the Govenor in the process) and she kills the Govenor. Tyrese could assist in some way in freeing Andrea as well and leads to them both rejoining Rick's crew. IDK if anybody in Rick's group will die, they've lost a lot of people already this season.

If someone does, my guess is Herschel. He's a liability with only one leg, his daughter is now getting married off, he trusts the group/Rick to do the right thing and they've been teaching Carol how to be the medic, kind of makes his character superflous. I would say these people are a lock to survive:

Rick - star of show

Carl - son of the star, will be a huge plot moment if Carl ever dies

Carol - already pulled the bait and switch on her dying this season

Darryl - too popular, just lost Merle so we will need to see his character dealing with that next season

Baby - can't kill off a baby, that'd be pretty messed up

Michone - Too much backstory not explained yet, hints at the walkers being people she knew, etc

People I don't think will die:

Beth - haven't seen enough of her character yet, something more seems to be building here as discussed in the thread

Tyrese - Will join Rick's group IMO

Maggie & Glenn - went thru too much from the Govenor already, getting married. My guess is they both make it to next year but one or both of them will bite it in the 4th season

By the way, has anyone seen the direct TV ad which features "The walking dead". Basically an average housewife walking around the house trying to clean the zombie blood off everything (you don't know the ad is for the walking dead). As she is walking into the living room and about to be attacked by a zombie, Darryl, already in the living room, shoots the zombie through the head with an arrow. The housewife turns to Darryl and says "I told you, Darryl, no killing in the house!" He looks down and says "sorry, Ma'am".

It is awesome.

They showed the religious stuff, the marriage proposal, the Herschell giving his ok for marriage, etc....kind of tying up loose ends in a post-apocalyptic way.My guess is Herschell will die. Beth will live. Maggie tries to cope with the loss of her father for half the 4th season.

Why would a Zombie that is feeding(Merle last night) get up and go after Daryl? Wouldn't they just keep eating and pay no mind to surroundings.

I think they have established that zombies are pretty easily distracted.
