***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (6 Viewers)

Not reading anything here. I have maybe 3 shows that I watch (2 that happen to be on tonight). My wife tells me 15 minutes after it started (right when I walk in ready to start watching) that she bumped The Walking Dead for some stupid show she'll never watch. Pissed off right now. Guess I'll play some GTAV or something to avoid spoilers.
Trevor is really crazy. Sorry for the spoiler.

A lot of setup, I liked it. Especially the raining zombies set piece. Thinking the kid had the flu just like the hog then passed out, fell and smashed his skull. We'll see lots more dying soon and probably a few betrayals such as whiskey grabbing new guy. Fences will fail before much longer I bet as well. Lots of hints about more and more walkers at the walls. the junp 5-6 months ahead was the time they spent establishing this safe community, we get to come in and see things just as they start to fall apart.

I know after a few months you may get comfortable but I'd be sleeping with my cell door closed at all times.

You really think the kid smashed his skull? I'll bet he's running through the cells biting people in the first 15 min next week. (edit, on re-read you probably meant that's how he died, I figured he was dead when he hit the ground.)Good call on sleeping with the cell door closed. Only smart.

No way I'm following some random through the woods...go get your hubby and meet me back here by the dead boar.

Guess the zombie virus is "evolving"...should be interesting...

I didn't read into Harry shaking hands with Darryl...it was just to help make him a bit more memorable and then bam...he's dead and will be biting somebody next week.

I don't see how a handful of guys can't clear out that swarm of zombies on the fence in a few hours. You put me, my son and a handful of guys out there and we'll have them all piled up, dead within a couple of hours as we make it a competition to see who can get the most.

Where are all these zombies coming from? I realize they're attracted to certain things like sound and whatever...but how could so many keep flooding the area? It took this group of live survivors forever to find this prison...zombies just gravitate towards it like they have gps.

The raining zombies made no real sense. They just drop out from everywhere...like these dead bastards never walked over ANY of those spots in the few months they've been up there?

It needed to simply be...the sound attracted them to the site...too many got on one spot and bam...we've got a swarm of them raining down and falling into the hole, but it's "just not dramatic enough"...we got to have them in front of us, behind us, on top of us...everywhere.

And why does ANYONE still do ANYTHING alone? There's just no way Rick should be wandering alone in the woods...it should be a standing order that everyone works with partner or you can just take your crap and get out. Even when we're shopping Sams Club...we roll down each aisle together.

It's just the writers being lazy...only way we can have Rick do more stupid crap...he's gotta be alone. Anyone else with him and they're gonna be like..."Rick...uh...yea, just have the chick fetch her hubby and come back...we can riddle her whatever you want when they return" or "hey, new guy...put that bottle in the basket and let's move along...stop getting all alchy-creepy on us."

I did see there's another zombie show coming...can't remember the name of it. I'll still watch this one until there's something better...but there could be...there's definitely no reason why there couldn't be something way better. This show could be over the top awesome if they'd simply tighten a few things up.

I don't have a problem with Rick going out on his own.. IMO, he feels he can be quieter alone then bringing some :hophead: along..

Also, sending her out on her own to get her husband.. No way am I letting her out of my sight.. No idea if her "husband" means a group or not.. At least while following her you can keep an eye and ear out for others.

As for nitpicking/complaints..

When they showed the Zombies on the roof they were basically all standing in one place so I can understand the way they played it out on why they hadn't fallen through yet..

But it doesn't make any sense they were even still there since they setup a Boombox playing music to draw those on the ground away from the fence line.. Those on the Roof would have heard that noise also and would have either already fallen into the store or off the edge. Still having it rain Zombies was new and I enjoyed it so will give them a pass on the mis-write there..

The only other part I had issues with was... Hundreds of Zombies continue to come out of the woods attacking the fences ... yet Rick wanders for who knows how long checking traps and all he runs into is some woman who has been fending for herself since the beginning. Then they wander through the woods back to her camp and not one zombie the whole way..

Otherwise thought the last 40 minutes were enjoyable and thought it set it up for a good season going forward.

:goodposting;

They need to tighten this #### up.

Agreed that zombies falling through the ceiling like that didn't quite make sense, unless the first hole somehow weakened the entire structure. And then each additional hole made it progressively weaker. Maybe.

I'll let most of the "go off on your own" stuff go, since this genre has always depended on characters doing stupid things. And when this has been your life for 3(?) years I could see becoming a little complacent (music in headphones, open cell doors, etc).

I thought it was interesting that Daryl is bringing people back to the prison. Also kinda liked Beth being so unaffected by that kid's death.

Was Tyreese this squeamish in the comics? Good to see he's getting with Karen though.

No, he was pretty tough and for a while, Rick's right hand man

The handshake between he and Darrly must have meant something.
Means Daryl is going to get sick.Good episode I thought. Lots of setup, and on the talking dead they told about a big influx of characters from the comics.
or Daryl is a carrier of the virus :o
This was my initial thought. He licked his fingers and then shook the guy's hand, who then probably rubbed his eyes or something. Daryl is the carrier and Carol is likely next to go.

It's been teased for a while now so, IMO, it's just a matter of time for her and Daryl to get together and have carol walk in on them.

The kid's eyes looked like they were glowing in the last scene, or it may be just me. Maybe he will be able to move faster or something. Other than that, I don't see why one walker inside the prison will be much of a problem for them to kill.

Love the show but that was a pretty pedestrian episode, especially for a season premiere.

Enjoyed the raining Walkers.

Seems apparent there's some kind of virus floating around and that's what happened to the kid at the end and the pig and the walker with no eyes too.

Beth being unemotional about the kid's death is because she's still pining for Rick. That's obvious to everyone, right?

Maybe I'll appreciate the episode more after a second viewing but it just felt really slow moving to me. I'm not asking for wall-to-wall action either and I like character-driven stories but this one still felt slow.

That's starting to become a little unbelievable. Come out to Colorado,Utah or somewhere in the Mountain areas. They can find places where they can set up and never be found.

Well, one walker can quickly turn into a half dozen walkers or more when people are sleeping in open cells. This is assuming of course that he heads for the newbies first.

I think the first person he attacks screams and wakes everyone up. Unless he can somehow pick a bunch of people off in the shower 1 by 1 without being heard, it SHOULDN'T cause a chain reaction. But in order to progress the story, it will. Half that prison will be dead by the end of Ep2.

I really enjoyed it. I have wanted them to get back to showing everyday life, like the setting up of their camp with the garden etc.., and also show them out scavenging more. Job well done. This new virus or whatever this new thing being introduced is a nice new way to go. I think it is setting up to be much better than season 3.

The only thing I didn't like, or am indifferent to anyways, is them killing off people that show good acting ability. Like in season 2, the killing of that Philly guy in the bar, and now the kid last night in Sams Club or wherever they were. But in the same breath, that's what helps make the show good. You never know what the heck is going to happen.

I also thought they did a good job of showing how they had settled into a regular routine of sorts with everyday life (likely to be blown asunder at some point). I just wanted more of a "pow" feeling since it was the start of a new season.

Yeah, I was thinking knocked his skull but didn't smash the brain. I guess it makes more sense that the illness/fever he had just straight up killed him. Not a big deal either way as I agree he'll be munching on someone soon.

As for Rick being alone, I'll easily let that pass. They were pretty easily moving in and out of the gates, even with the buildup of walkers which Carol pointed out was the worst it had been in at least a month. I think we can assume that we are jumping into the story when a large herd has stumbled on or gotten close to the prison.

Hoping Rick gives to Beth in a bad way.

Actually your scenario is more likely, this would explain the exaggerated licking of fingers. Hmm. If they kill Daryl off there are going to be a lot of angry people.
