***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (4 Viewers)

I want Marlo, Chris and Snoop to show up with supplies next week.
" Man, ####. I seen a tiny-### .22 round-nose drop a Walker plenty of days, man. Mother####ers get up in them like a pinball, rip they ### up. Come out dey head. Big joints, though... Big joints, man, just break they bones, you say, "#### it." now I gots to gets close and stab a muth####a Walker".

So much for the Season 3 finale turning people off.
Did anyone honestly believe it would? I was a bit disappointed by it but it's not like it sucked. I don't think it was realistic to expect fans to stay away. This show is a monster. Be interesting to see when it finally slows down.

How do the Walking Dead numbers compare to the big 4 TV shows?
Last night’s ratings confirm The Walking Dead continues to be the #1 show on all of television among the coveted 18-49 demographic. 2013/14 season to date, last night’s premiere ranks as the #1 telecast in adults 18-49, outperforming all programs including primetime NFL football.
AMC’s The Walking Dead is the first cable series in television history to reign as the biggest show of the Fall season among Adult 18-49 rating, beating all broadcast and cable entertainment series
The second quote is from last season.

A lot of negative nellies in this thread the prior 2 seasons. And to read this thread most of the time in the past you'd think this was the worst tv show of all time. Pages and pages devoted to how boring it was searching for Sophia or how much Dale needed to die. But I guess that's par for the course when it comes to innerwebs discussions.

 they didn't show what Eddie was.. baby zombie or just eddies head.
Seriously? The chick said they were on their way to their honeymoon. You think she was taking her baby on a honeymoon?
She said a LOT of :loco: things.. I was hoping for some twisted thinking like.. Husband Eddie died and was lost, but baby Eddie lived, then died and she kept it..

In reality.. I was just hoping for our first Walking Dead baby :kicksrock:
It was pretty clear as to who Eddie was and what/who was in the bag.
I found it interesting (and kind of distracting) that this woman (Clara?) spoke with an Irish accent. Maybe it was simply due to the fact that she was one her way to her honeymoon, and every flight goes through ATL, but I keep coming back to the fact that a European character has been introduced here. The producers could have gotten anyone to play this part here. Red herring?

As for the "new, thinking zombie" theory, did we actually see her eat the food Rick handed her? The scene ended with her stabbing herself, Rick walking away, and "Eddie" moving underneath the blanket (who we never got to see.) I'm thinking we'll see them again soon, and Rick will have a "I should have taken you out when I had the chance" type moment.

True but I never thought the negative views expressed here were an accurate reflection of either the show's quality (which I've always believed was much stronger than typically given credit for in this thread) or how it was being received by most viewers.

@brianstelter: To put it another way, "The Walking Dead" last night had 5 million more viewers than the "Breaking Bad" finale
That is just sad actually.
They're both great shows IMO. Can't lose with either one.
No one is losing here, especially AMC.
I believe TWD, unlike Breaking Bad and Mad Men, is owned by AMC. So they're probably making out like bandits with the success of this show in particular.

The one thing I mentioned from the very beginning was how this supposedly "not doing well on our own" woman completely ignored the food once it was given to her. Not really sure why Rick didn't put one through her head though. Feeling sorry for her situation doesn't do much when she's a zombie.

TWD is better than most stuff on television. Every once in a while it features something monumentally stupid ("It's raining zombies"), but overall it's an interesting show if you overlook some of the dreck. I understand why it has mass appeal.

It's not in the same universe as Breaking Bad.

Can't wait for the S6 twist when we find out this entire thing is a hallucination of Rick's while in a coma.

I thought the Raining Zombies scene was oustanding. Sometimes you just have to come up with some really insane s**t and go for it. That scene did it. By far the best part of the premiere in my opinion.

I agree TWD isn't on the same level in terms of "quality" as Breaking Bad. The latter could go down as the greatest TV show of all time so it's hardly a slap on TWD if it doesn't measure up. I think TWD is a damn good show and one of the best on TV. It doesn't have to be on the level of Breaking Bad for me to enjoy it as much as I do.

Would agree with that as well. I'm glad to see the numbers are so good.

What was wrong with the raining zombies thing? From what we have seen, zombies remain pretty dormant when confined. They literally do not move, as we have seen multiple times throughout the series. Whether they are in a church (where some were actually sitting) or store and can't get out, in a house (season 3 opener) or on a roof with no where to go. They don't move. But once they hear a sound, they all move towards it. That is why the roof collapsed at that moment. All of the walkers were on top of the weakened area of the roof at the same time.

They had been blasting music for 2 weeks to get the walkers out of parking lot so they could go raid the store. Why didn't the walkers fall off the roof then? If they were new, how did they get there?

Also, how did they not notice a ####### helicopter on the roof?

Nobody looked up?

Guess the zombie virus is "evolving"...should be interesting...
The kid's eyes looked like they were glowing in the last scene, or it may be just me. Maybe he will be able to move faster or something. Other than that, I don't see why one walker inside the prison will be much of a problem for them to kill.
It's a problem because the virus is now able to kill you and then make you zombie.

The zombies were on the roof, they had no where to go. The zombies were "survivors" that were on the helicopter. I believe they made that apparent.

How do we know they didn't notice the helicopter?

They were on the ground, in the front. The heli was on the roof, on the back ledge. I don't believe they saw it. The music was in the front, where the roof was fine.

It was nice to finally see something normal happening in the show, like Rick using the ipod/walkman while he was farming. I never understood why they wouldn't drop a cd in while driving or have a boombox or tv/dvd player hooked up in the jail. It wouldn't take too may solar panels to power that type of stuff and Woodbury had some, even if you want to say that maybe they had no access to them.

I would go well out of my way on some of these runs to get myself solar panels from a roof or whereever my travels take me to make life a little more normal and have the ability to recharge things like FRS radios and power tools.

I watch(ed) both.
Me too. Love(d) both too.
But BB is like a five course meal at a fine restaurant with each some of the best writing and directing even seen on TV.

TWD is just a zombie crap shoot and while fun to watch it does not reach the intellectual level with the character depth, plot or really any other aspect near that of BB. Like a hot wing dinner at hooters.

"We're not doing well on our own". She's carrying around her husband's reanimated head in a burlap sack, so I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment.

We won't see them again imo. That was a "one-off" thread. And I don't have any issues with Rick granting a troubled woman her final wish.

Breaking Bad was a superior show to The Walking Dead. I don't think too many here would disagree with that.

However, that doesn't in my opinion lessen TWD's greatness. I still think it's an outstanding show and with Breaking Bad now gone it's by far my favorite show on television.

What was wrong with the raining zombies thing?
Lots of things.

1) Zombies moan. Why didn't they hear them up on the roof in the first place?

2) Todd Bridges puts a bottle of wine back on the cabinet and the whole things collapses Wile E. Coyote style. Come on.

3) Then the zombies start raining. How come they never fell through the roof before then? They're just wandering around up there.

4) Why did the chopper suddenly fall through the roof? Because of the holes the zombies opened up? See (3) above.

I get that this is a zombie show so the writers feel like they need to come up with a way to get somebody eaten every now and then, but this was silly even by the standards of the genre.

1) I don't think they'd be able to hear the moaning all that way up, through a roof. It's not like the walkers are scream-moaning.

2)the only thing I agree with. That was stupid.

3)explained earlier.

4)I'm sure that helped!

Maybe none of them stepped in that specific weak spot that set off a chain reaction on the weakened roof, leading to the heli coming down too.

eta: the parachute zombie also put more weight on the roof from below, dragging it down.

Sometimes I just wanna see something cool, especially in a show about zombies. Zombies falling through the roof was very cool. I don't care what holes can be poked through it logically or attempted to be poked through it. It was f'n cool. That's enough for me. :)

Is there anything else on TV worth a crap? I will watch TWD for a while until something else gets me going.

I tried LWS and that was horrible.

I tried the Bridge and the lead character women is just annoying - is she "slow".

I can wait until game of thrones starts back up.

One of the greatest scenes in the show's history, imo.

The first two episodes of the new Showtime show "Masters of Sex" was pretty good.

I assumed the people were gathered on the roof for survival and rescue. The chopper came down to pick people up and was overrun. So everyone on roof ended up turned.

But the zombies staying completely still is dumb. Can't have it both ways. Zombies roaming the countryside in search of food and apparently the prison...and zombies standing perfectly still for six months. Especially while a boom box is blaring a few feet away. Just dumb and unresolvable.

You have them all go to the one open hatch on the roof because they heard the sounds coming from it and it falls through or the all go towards chopper that maybe broke open the ceiling upon crashing and then the load breaks through. But individual zombies just raining down all over the place? Dumb.

I believe the virus has evolved and pigs are closest to us so it started there. Kid was infected by the food/feces/water from the pig. The Darryl fingerlick was so over the top to make us all wonder if he's the carrier.

I personally didn't like how bossy the new black chick is...really need more story there to accept her "leadership".

It's been dumb from the beginning to be in a prison and not use it's inherent security features. Every corridor and cell would be locked under my watch. And NO ONE would do anything alone outside those gates.

And by now I'd have insane amounts of barriers around my prison...didn't they learn anything from the guy who locked down and entire city block by himself?! What was his name? Love that crazy *******.

As for this show's appeal...it's like McD's chicken nuggets...we all know it's full of filler and BS...but we still crave that little morsel and more will buy its cheap nonsense versus sitting down to a Ruth' Chris Steak (Breaking Bad). That is...until someone does it better...I'm waiting for a Chick-Fil-A version of zombie shows.

No Showtime.

Is the Sleepy Hollow thing any good?

OK. So if you build a fence around the prison why not dig a moat around it - can zombies drown?
With no heavy machinery, that would be really hard to do, especially not knowing if it would indeed work. Those things they built outside the gate that opens, the things that resembled those railroad tie obstacles from the beaches on D-Day (best way to explain them)? I'd build a bunch of those and line them up on the outside of the fence, along the whole perimeter.

Haven't seen it but previews looked like it might be something I would like.

I honestly watch so little network television these days. Other than some sitcoms little on network TV has been able to sustain my interest the last several years.
