Great development. Even though the world is ####... giving up is not an option.I loved this episode
Different strokes for different folks but these last few shows have been great.

Sure seemed to be some pretty massive foreshadowing for both of their characters."You're going to be the last one standing".
Agreed, I enjoyed it, but definitely could have been better to way better. Hulk is right above, that episode was a great one between Rick, Michonne and Carl (and Morgan). That is the tough part about some of the past couple, we have already seen the bonding of Carl/Rick/Michonne a few times recently and last season and we have seen the growth of Daryl before as well. I understand that losing the prison was a huge event, but they could have combined last week and this week and probably had a solid 1 episode.I liked it a lot more than last week but still way too much filler. Thought Reedus did a great job in his breakdown scene. He was definitely born to play Daryl Dixon. This show has always been about the characters so I don't need wall-to-wall walker kills to keep me happy and I appreciate what they're trying to do in terms of further defining the characters (especially Beth in this episode) but the last two episodes probably had about 10 minutes combined of essential information that drove the story forward. That's not a good rate.
I thought they were trying to flesh out Beth's character (cue up "I'd like to flesh her out comments) more in this episode and some of it worked, some of it didn't. Did they really need to blatantly rip off "Lost" with the I've never game? Like I said, I can appreciate what they're trying to do but I don't think it's completely succeeded the last two episodes. I agree they could've pared down these episodes into one good one if they chose to.Agreed, I enjoyed it, but definitely could have been better to way better. See I agree with this especially if next week is just a Maggie centered episode and then we follow that up with a Carol and Tyrese episode and then end the season with a sappy reunion at the end of the train tracks setting up next season. They could combine a couple of these episodes together.Agreed, I enjoyed it, but definitely could have been better to way better. They did an excellent job of that three episodes ago. They told four stories in one episode. That was terrific work there and I think they should've followed that approach more the last two episodes.See I agree with this especially if next week is just a Maggie centered episode and then we follow that up with a Carol and Tyrese episode and then end the season with a sappy reunion at the end of the train tracks setting up next season. It's been well established Daryl has zero game. But yeah, I'm not sure what more Beth could do to give herself to him. When Rick finds out he's gonna be PISSED.How does Daryl not try to get with drunken beth? Especially during the Never ever scene while drinking moonshine. Uhh Daryl this was a layup. Never ever have I been with a farmers daughter...
Exactly, IMO, thats when you know an episode missed badly....or at the very least if that episode brought on some amazing acting on some level which imo is not where this show is at.How does Daryl not try to get with drunken beth? Especially during the Never ever scene while drinking moonshine. Uhh Daryl this was a layup. Never ever have I been with a farmers daughter...
I feel like I didn't have to watch that episode last night and could very well pick right back up with next weeks episode and know everything that is going on.
and if she drinks even better!!!How does Daryl not try to get with drunken beth? Especially during the Never ever scene while drinking moonshine. Uhh Daryl this was a layup. Never ever have I been with a farmers daughter...

He's like the Eminence of the post-apocalyptic world. How does Daryl not try to get with drunken beth? Especially during the Never ever scene while drinking moonshine. Uhh Daryl this was a layup. Never ever have I been with a farmers daughter...

Great! There was def some sexual tension in this ep, Was waiting for Beth to get to the point and say i never had sex....the awkward pause...Beth sheds a smile as she starts to motion towards Daryl...Daryl begins to uncomfortable move when a wave of ZOMBIES interrupts with one dragging 2 hubcaps around the house.
Was thinking the same thing when Beth put on the blouse.See I agree with this especially if next week is just a Maggie centered episode and then we follow that up with a Carol and Tyrese episode and then end the season with a sappy reunion at the end of the train tracks setting up next season. I think there were some interesting things about last night's episodes that you can tell the producers have been reading fan comments. An example is I have heard people complain how many times Darryl uses the cross bolts without them ever breaking. Well broken bolt last night.
That being said, the burning down the house, though I am sure they were going for symbolism of some type, was stupid and just didn't make any rationale sense no matter how you slice it. Hey it is the middle of the night and we are surrounded by walkers, lets start a fire and attract more.
I disagree. She's a teenager, she's seemingly coming to the realization that death is imminent, and her father - who she always remained "good" for - is now dead (she even made some sort of reference to that last night).I can see somone in her position thinking,"Screw it. Before I die, I want to get drunk, etc."The whole "I want to get drunk because I never have before" direction of the episode was just bizarre.
Zombie apocalypse bucket list. The whole "I want to get drunk because I never have before" direction of the episode was just bizarre.
Exactly what I came in to post. I don't mind character development but they could've easily split that in half and have two different stories at the same time. This one was a definite snoozer. And Darryl getting more drunk than a newbie trying moonshine for the first time?!I didn't mind the Beth/Daryl development, but it was a bit much to devote the whole episode to it. Would have liked if it was split between them and say, Carol/Tyreese.
And we all know what would've really happened with a drunk Beth and Darryl in a remote forest in zombie world.
Maybe it is signs of things to come. Wonder if Beth dies soon.I disagree. I may be remembering this scene incorrectly, but I thought the last scene was pretty great. It was the scene with Daryl grinning and watching the house burn, then sees a walker out of the corner of his eye. His smile disappears as he grabs Beth and takes off.The criticisms of acting, lack of character development, inconsistencies in plot etc are valid. But any comment like 'Why would they burn a house down? It would attract zombies!' Is completely missing the point. These characters have spent years avoiding zombies. This isn't super-exciting survival game. They are getting mad, horny, reflective, silly, all other kinds of emotions. Survival comes second to many of these scenes where they are trying to wrestle with what just happened or what they've just seen. All the cowboys in this thread are funny, like for 2 years you would still act perfectly rationally and have no other emotional needs.

I wish he would have thrown that crossbow into the burning house. I thought the writers were hinting it was time to retire it when he missed the squirrel due to a broken shaft. It just bugs me every time he shoots that and has to retrieve the arrows, such an ineffective method. And it was Daryl setting fire to his past and walking away from it. Symbolically, it worked for me. I thought the final scene was well done. I just wish there had been more leading up to it.
Great, burning a house in the middle of the night that will attract zombies while you have to go out into the darkness with a girl who barely knows how to defend herself. What could go wrong?I agree. Yea, liked the resourcefulness scenes with the fire pit and grabbing the stuff from the car.Underground fire pit was pretty cool. And smart.

I haven't watched the whole thing yet. First 5 minutes with him were brutal so he got better?BTW, J.B. Smoove should be on every episode of The Talking Dead.
That was the best part of the episode for me. Hiding in the car, burying the fire, setting camp, etc. They go from veteran survivors to soused up morons at the end. They could have burned the house as the sun just started to come up to keep me from groaning so much.Yea, liked the resourcefulness scenes with the fire pit and grabbing the stuff from the car.Underground fire pit was pretty cool. He was funny from time to time but good grief, spit it out!BTW, J.B. Smoove should be on every episode of The Talking Dead.

Huh. I had the opposite thought.
