Watching the scene again where Tyreese gets bit and there's a continuity error.

He goes through a hallway entrance (no door) but when the camera shows it from the reverse angle there's a door on the entrance he came from.

The other two doors in that hallway were closed. No way for a zombie to get him without opening a door.

ETA: Nevermind, Chris' brother came out of the bathroom that must have been one of those jack and jill ones.

Sorry..last's night's episode was horrible.

You have a world in which it is a daily struggle and they casually blow off a trek to Virginia with a throw away " That was a hard trip" line. I was looking forward to an epic Journey and they skipped it.

I'm not saying they had to show every mile of the 500 mile trip to Richmond, but it would have been nice to see some of it. The whole group hadn't ventured too far from Atlanta from the start of this show. I'd imagine that they are all from GA. Seems like it would be a big deal for them to leave "home" and finally go on the road. Did they run into any trouble? Were the roads filled with cars and walkers like they had previously encountered? I don't need 3 episodes to the trip, but give us at lease more than a couple lines about it.

Wait, they were in Virginia? I didn't even hear that.

The show that makes going to a nearby town for supplies into a Homer epic ends up going to a new state for the first time with a throwaway line?

you didnt realize they were in VA?

Complain about it and not realize it..

I really need to start taking this show more seriously...

Rewatched the beginning and they talked about 'a long trip' and there was a SC sign. Rick asks Chris "How far out?" and Chris says "5 miles". Then he talks to Carol and says "We're halfway there" and she says they've gone 500 miles and are halfway there.

By far the longest trip in the show's history and they encounter absolutely no obstacles along the way.

Pretty sure if they drew out the trip over say 3 episodes people would be complaining about it being the same old, same old.. Drive, kill, stop, hunt, kill, drive..

IMO, it felt like it was a good time to "move the story along" faster.. A complete guess here based on what others have said...

I stopped reading the comics at the point of the prison, but based on what others have posted there is a "Safe" city before DC ..

I'm guessing they reach that either right before, or during this seasons Finale, to setup next season so felt they needed to "Fast Forward" a bit.

Bull-ony, what you are describing is the plot line for Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek ,Wagon Train and Love Boat which is an amazing vehicle. A show with traveling or constantly changing sets allows a surprising and fresh story every week. This show isn't and shouldn't be Friends where people sit around hallucinating and occasionally a zombie walks into Central Perk.

You could EASILY 500 miles in under 8 hours seeing as there is no traffic to deal with.. Add in a few drive around Zombie invested roads and I'll give you 10 hours..

I know in the past they've taken their sweet time getting this group to travel 15 miles..

But again, that has been one of the complaints from some.... To slow, why aren't they moving along faster, this is the same old boring stuff, move the story along!!

Put me down in the camp of not liking this opener. It felt clumsily paced, awkward, confusing and not impactful to me.

The emotional impact of Noahs subdivision being wiped out and Tyleast getting wacked was lost on me. I think there were two things working against it. Back to back deaths of Beth then Tyreese had the effect of not feeling to bad for the death of your dog because it died the day after your wife died. The second was the break. I almost forgot about Noah and the Tyreese development almost felt like taking a final exam the day you got back from summer vacation. Also there was NO build up to the Virginia community so I really didn't give a crap about it. Sorry a couple of wall photos don't make me care about the loss of a brand new character.

The zombies chops, fence, Michonne, glenn and marks and such was a lot to pack into one episode.

I agree with a lot of the second paragraph there.

It made little sense to me to lead with this episode after a break. As I watched the episode I couldn't stop wondering WTF the writers were thinking throwing these things out there without much build up to them. What little they attempted, like Noah discussing the settlement in the car, were boring enough they didn't generate much empathy.

It kind of felt like they got in love with the idea of the out-of-order sequencing and the visuals they were going to have. So much so that they gave no thought at all to actually committing to doing some storytelling in the story they were telling.

Last night's episode just missed a ratings record. The numbers for Better Call Saul were solid but the drop-off from TWD to that show is really a clear example of what a phenomenon The Walking Dead is.

He lost more blood from the bite than he did after they chopped his arm off. They had the opportunity for a realistic blood bath, but, they must have used it all up on the bite and ran out.

ETA: Not to mention the weak attempt at stopping said blood loss. Even with the infected bite why don't you take your hammer belt off and tourniquet it? Surely you've practice the what if Hershel scenario in your mind.

I think the numbers the last couple of years and all the records the show has broken substantiates the show's popularity.

As for the reaction to the episode much of what I've read so far outside of this forum has been positive. Most of the negative reactions are due to Tyreese dying not the episode itself. So I'm not sure the consensus among fans would be that this was a poor episode. The negative views expressed in this forum have rarely translated to what the majority of fans/viewers think about the show. That's proven to be pretty consistent in my opinion.

The end result wasn't great but I thought it was smart thinking to have the walker bite an infected body part rather than something which hadn't been bitten. If there was any chance of survival chances are much greater if you only have to deal with one infected area as opposed to two.

and when you get there, the people already there kill you. Got it.

I'll just sum at up like this. It is probably not a good idea to go to the same place everyone else wants to go. More people, more zombies, and the people who would survive that are the bad ### "claimed" types who will cap you on sight.

It would be perfect if you could get there right when the invasion started, with about 50 people who all get along perfectly, with a ton of food and ammo to last a year or more, hope you dont get firebombed, and shoot the million people who try to get to the island.

Two scenes were devoted to it, both involving Rick. It wasn't like this was a minor plot point they didn't touch on. It was made pretty clear where they were going.

I thought last night was a good episode, except for how Tyrese/Cutty got bit. This whole premise of a walker sneaking up and chomping a chunk out of someone? C'mon.

Think about it. There's no noise at all. No radio or TV playing. No neighbor mowing his lawn. No cars or street traffic or sounds of kids playing in the yard. It's dead silent. You're in an unknown house and you've already seen a walker behind a closed door. NO WAY anyone is sneaking up on you, no matter how mesmerized you are by a couple photographs. Lazy writing.

The only part I did question is "How did it get out of the room with the closed door"

So if everyone made the 500 mile trip to Richmond, why did they not show everyone going? Just makes the show confusing for no good reason.

And if everyone was near Richmond and Rick's group went off to Noah's town separately then why did Carol say they were 'halfway there' when DC is 100 miles from Richmond?

Nobody was going to Washington last night. It's not clear if they're even going to go (although I'm guessing they will). That was just something Rick said after Michonne's talk about needing to find some place to call home. It was at that point that Rick said to Michonne and Glenn that they should go to Washington.

So if everyone made the 500 mile trip to Richmond, why did they not show everyone going? Just makes the show confusing for no good reason.

And if everyone was near Richmond and Rick's group went off to Noah's town separately then why did Carol say they were 'halfway there' when DC is 100 miles from Richmond?

Nothing was confusing.

They were halfway there "from where the rest of the group was"

And what does DC have to do with anything anyway? "Halfway there" is no reference whatsoever to DC.

They talked about going to DC, but nobody said anything about being "halfway to DC".

Last episode was 44 mins according to imdb. I noticed the heavy commercials, but I thought they were stacked in the second half and the first half was relatively commercial free.

Yep. I was thinking to myself that there were barely any commercials and then BAM, a ton of commercials.
