I would avoid an island because everyone would be trying to get to an island. Sounds like a terrible idea to me to go where everyone is trying to go.
advantages:

clear lines of sight for 360 degrees, so you can see trouble coming, isolation, physical barrier to zombies walking up on you, should have access to water, shelter and other required natural resources needed to build, farm, defend. access to lots of pure protein (fish)

disadvantages: highly valued property you'll probably end up having to defend repeatedly, might not have fresh water or shelter or any naturally occurring food crop available, could be washed out in hurricane/storms, lack of protection from the wind/sea. Probably have to to leave island regularly to scrounge supplies.
It's highly valued, but I think it will be rare that people will be able to get to your particular island on a regular basis. You'd have plenty of prep time anytime you saw a boat making its way towards you.
However, nowhere to go if you're outgunned.
I don't think they're bringing cannons.

I would totally take over that experimental destroyer that runs on seawater for power. If only I knew where it was and could dispatch 500 zombie squabbles.

I liked it. Seems pretty obvious we have two different problems out there now. Wolves (literally or figuratively) and a group of people who killed everyone in Noah's neighborhood. I don't see how someone in the neighborhood spent the time to spray paint the wolves note as they were getting attacked. No idea on cutting the people in half too make the half zombies. Pretty sure that makes this a very bad group. Obviously, killing everyone in the neighborhood already confirmed that as well.

I agree with a bunch of the posts, that Tyrese saw the pictures and got lost in the realization that he was done. I am not big on the silent zombie thing, but I knew he would get bit and the twin walked through the bathroom door, which I think we saw open.
Despite the fact that 5 minutes ago he was trying to explain to Noah how to keep going and was concerned enough that he wanted to go first to clear the house to keep Noah safe.

Bet tyrese makes a few more appearances this season. I have a feeling they're going to flash forward and backward all season and mess with time
I actually have a feeling that was a one time thing and won't happen again.

One of the first things I mentioned to Mrs. They can't even drive 30 minutes without running into hordes of walkers that derail their plans, but they made a 500 mile drive lickety split like it was nothing.

Also, did they ever mentioned how Noah and his dad got from Virginia to Atlanta in the first place? Why the #### did they leave the safety of their community?
Already been said by others, but nothing said they made it 500 miles "easily". They just decided not to show a 500 mile trip with nothing but walker bashing and food/water scavenging. Apparently on this particular trip there were no major plotlines to go over. As you said, they can't even drive 30 miles without running into walkers. DO we need to see this each and every time it occurs on their journey?

Already stated a few times in the show, but Noah and his dad went to try and find his uncle. What more do you need to know?

The older sister of the two who died by Tyrese and Carol, she will have have another moment in something. Just way mature for her age. You can see it in her eyes. Spooky.

I am sure some won't like it, but I enjoyed this week's show as well. I'm interested to find out less about who the new guy is and more about how the heck he knew Rick's name as the leader. The only person I can think of is Morgan and that maybe he got to DC first? It can't be the cops in Atlanta because they probably don't recall his name (or didn't even hear it) and wouldn't have gotten anywhere near this new group. Anyone else?

Looks like they have been observing the group for a while, including the water drop for them. Obviously we are expecting the worst from this guy and his group, but he certainly was a clean looking fellow, I will give him that.

Abe not letting Euge drink the water. WOW. Guinea pig anyone??? Let him drink it, take it without, and if he didnt jacked up in a day then drink it.

Really weird though how the dude was so clean cut, following them, and had water. Knowing Rick's name also. It will ALLLLL be cleared up next week I guess, but as of right now no clue (and I stopped reading the comics after 100, so everything from here on out is complete mystery, which seems to be much better actually).

Ok. It;s my turn for a complaint for the show.

The ONLY thing I don't like is that it has become too big. Too many people like it, this "talking dead" show I just watched is just god ####### terrible, even with maggie on it. Everything is sooooooo over analyzed, more than any show I can ever remember, which is bitter sweet for me. On one hand, why on Earth is THIS show the most over analyzed since it's about damn zombies. On the other hand, my favorite part of zombie movies over the years has been the "what would I do in that situation" thought process, which leads to over analyzing things.

Did I mention I'm drunk? And this Talking Dead show STILL sucks.

At least Z NATION actually showed the tornado complete with flying zombies
Z Nation is a great show. Zombie-nado.

I hope whatever was about to blow everything up at the end of that last episode was somehow stopped. DJ Qualls needs to live. I BOINKED HER!!!!!!

The Governor was a clean cut fellow as well.

Amazing trees destroy every single walker outside yet not a single one hits the barn.
They kinda addressed how lucky they were.

Something I would like to address regarding some complaints of how sometimes the group gets lucky.................. Pretend you fast forward 10 years into the zombie apocalypse. 10 years into it, you probably have a few groups of people still around. Imagine the amount of good fortune those groups would have needed to overcome zombies, bandits, lack of food/water, and any and everything else that would come with mas hysteria and walking corpses. You are currently watching one of the groups that had that good fortune.

Have to be suspect of anyone that just comes on by especially when they say, "I'm a friend." Unless this guy names drops people that the group knows, I don't trust him one bit. And, if he is a friend... where is the friend that gave up Rick's name?

Great camera work when Maggie is first looking at the music box. I didn't notice any music box.

What was the plan during the storm and the zombies were pushing the barn? Push back and hope they go away? With the gaping holes in the door, take the katana and the machete and start thinning the crowd a bit. Has to be a better idea then waiting for a tornado to hit and take them all out.

Who knows...ask the writers

That was one horse #### episode. I was digging the struggle and the travels and such but that barn tornado bull#### is too much stupidity to block out.

Only thing good about the episode was when the rain started pouring down and the hot Latina was soaking wet.

Maybe I was too drunk but did they explain what happened to their cars, guns, food/water? Seems crazy to me that there is nothing to eat, drink or no shelter in surburbia. What the hell were they doing just walking on the open road? And they didnt notice another group ahead of them? And the rain storm/tornado or whatever was just lol bad. I mean eating bugs and stray dogs. GTFO.

So so bad, the writers are clearly trying to take us in a Lost flight pattern where there are over the top cliff hangers each episode.

Some of you just will never be happy. The show gave us perspective as to what the group is doing and his they are doing. Some of you complain about them having cars with fuel and food aplenty. Now, the group is suffering cause water is low and food is scarce.

This episode is, probably, more like it would be after 18 months or so of chaos. Not sure why they are not near a main highway, maybe walked infested normally, but the show is giving perspective as to the groups status. Guess some will never be happy seeing "reality" in this situation.

That may have been the absolute worst episode yet, from the cheesy dialoge, to the unbelievable plot it was just plain bad
wait  I thought last week was.. or was it the week before.. or was that last season..

The continuous "Worst episode Ever!" Posts have me  on which one is REALLY the worst one.. Seems like it is time for a poll ;)

 on the bold.. It is the reason no one Yelled for help.. As we've seen in previous episodes the Zombies are easily distracted and with all the Lightening and thunder sooner or later, as long as those in the barn didn't make too much noise, they'd wander off.

Dude, its okay to admit that was a dog crap episode. Its totally fine. After the first two this show is just going from must see live to watching around Tuesday on DVR. Not sure what the writers are trying to do here.

This episode is the one to beat, the Alpha of bad writing.

Ummm.. show us that the group has been beaten down to a pulp and many are wondering if it is all worth it.. With the "Hold the horde at the door" as the "We survive as one" to round it all up.

Pretty much :deadhorse: throughout the episode but for some reason you missed it??

none of this bothered me.

cars ran out of gas and they had to leave what they couldn't carry.

they were a long way from the suburbs (VA isn't just a suburb of DC)- where are they supposed to get food? no water... ... yeah- a bit of a plot device, but I see it plausible that they walk for a day or two and can't find anything. long country roads aren't going to be full of houses. I've seen a couple episodes of Survivor... eat nothing or eat bugs? easy choice.

if not the open road, you want them walking through the woods without any visibility? we've already seen that zombies are super-stealthy ninja footed- better to be on the open road IMO.

I must have missed it- what group was ahead of them? they showed the slowly building group of walkers following them that they had to take out.. or are you talking about the zombies that attacked the barn?

the middle of the storm sudden grouping of zombies that somehow decide to attack them was the weak spot to me. along with the entire group pushing back against the door... because zombies have shown that they'll just stop coming if you push back long enough? and yeah- the tornado coming within feet of that rickety old barn but not touching it- at all- ... without knowing much about the physics of tornadoes, I'm going to just guess that that's not too likely.

I liked the episode. At this point, we know they can kill zombies- I'm much more interested in how they live when there aren't zombies that need killing, and I got plenty of that this episode. some beautiful directed scenes as well.. plus the "we are the walking dead" scene... I'll admit- gave me chills.

I get the we are still alive and we are going to live, us vs them zombie door push showdown, but do they really need to beat us over the head with such melodramatic horse pucky? I actually liked that the zombies were trashed by the tornado. It isn't like they know to get inside and take cover, so they would get thrown around like just any other outdoor debris in a storm like that.

Edit for the adding of the we are the walking dead Demotivational speech from Rick. That was just the icing on the over the top melodramatic cake in this one.

Bright side, the previews make it look like a fair amount of action coming soon.

Tornado's are a Fickle thing..

Living up here in Minnesota/Wisconsin I've seen house's left standing while the house's to the left, right and behind it are destroyed and the only damage to the house that was left standing is some shingle damage..

Well, I for one think it is great that the tornado missed the barn. Not only would it have killed off the entire cast, but also most of the camera crews. TWD would have been out of production for months if not years.

They did take an long time to get to the point, and could have been done in 30 minutes rather then 45 ;)

But up until the horde attack everyone was basically breaking up to thier own group or going on thier own..

With Sasha's "We're not friends" comment to Abraham, to Abraham's drinking alone, to Daryl continuing to walk away on his own.. It was all meant to show us the group was on the verge of a breakup/giving up( Maggie & Sasha)

Statement was made earlier in the show.. Can't recall the first part, but the last part was "we survive as one" which was the "wrap it up" scene with the horde.

Loved they set us up for what should be a very intense/intriguing show next week.

A)cars ran out of gas and they had to leave what they couldn't carry.

B)if not the open road, you want them walking through the woods without any visibility? we've already seen that zombies are super-stealthy ninja footed- better to be on the open road IMO.

C)I must have missed it- what group was ahead of them? they showed the slowly building group of walkers following them that they had to take out.. or are you talking about the zombies that attacked the barn?
A. There is no way I am leaving a city the size of Richmond on foot and without the weapons/food when they just drove from atlanta - that seems like a huge plot hole thats tough to accept. Maybe they talked about this last night about what happened to their cars and I was drunk and missed it

B) Again, maybe I missed it but I thought they were looking for a place to hole up (I think Michonne suggested that last episode) or are they now trying to walk to DC? Seems incredibly stupid on a ton of levels

C) They walked up on water (which they didnt drink for some crazy reason), which means there is someone watching them up ahead (another plot point thats tough to accept)

and herein lies a big problem on this show.

Seems like the writers write the show around cool zombie scenes and less around the characters/story.

What point did the tornado have for this episode?

The point was to have a scene of all of them holding back against a hoard of zombies and then walking outside to see a cool scene of impaled zombies hanging on broken trees.

Instead you now have people rolling their eyes at the barn door scene and tornado not touching the barn in any way,
