I read the comics but never watch Talking Dead and almost never see any articles on the show unless I specifically look for them. It's pretty easy to avoid spoilers, imo.

I said I read the comics.

Game of Thrones? More widely read, vs. TWD comics, and discussed online, I think.

Just a minute ago I scrolled through the yahoo articles on the home page, and there were many about TWD, did not see one for GOT.  One article talking about how everyone is deaf and that is how walkers sneak up on people, one about how Negan will be like the comic, one about how he won't, one about why maggie will die, one about why glenn will die, one about why Abe will die, one about why Carol will die....................and so on.

Just checked facebook real quick to respond to a couple messages, and right at the top another article about Negan, then just below that another article about all the characters being "sick" filming the season finale.  I didn't scroll down further, but you know damn well there are more. 

So yeah, I imagine GOT is widely read and viewed, but not anywhere close to as much stuff about it online as TWD, and as far as I know there is no hour long show every week discussing the episode with characters from the show.  

I am not asking to prove some sort of point or anything, just curious. 

 
When GOT is on again and TWD is over, you'll see the opposite.

BTW - I scrolled back the past 24 hours and I don't have a single Walking Dead article on my FB feed. But that's because I don't follow any related pages on facebook.

Hill Strret Blues originated in the bible and was discussed at length every week in churches of all denominations, including month long retreats.

I don't follow anything, and have never even clicked on one of the ones I saw.  #### is everywhere. 

Talking Dead might be the worst thing ever created.  Watched maybe twice and have seen a few seconds here and there.  Just so, so bad.

:shrug:  Not sure what it is then. I almost never see a WD article on my FB newsfeed or on yahoo, which I use as my homepage. I guess it's just entertainment news, which I avoid. Articles in my FB feed are mostly science, history, politics, art and sports.

I don't know. The Negan casting was pretty much blasted all over online as being a "this is the bad guy we've been waiting for" moment. It was pretty darned hard to read about that casting without hearing that he's the worst of the worst.

The only place I remember seeing it was in this thread and a couple of days ago when I looked up the actor to see if I saw him in anything else. I had to actually type in "Negan actor" in Google to find out what his name is.

I'm sure there are people who agree with you, but ultimately it is an opinion. And generally speaking, opinions are not universal.

Spoilers, for the most part, do not bother me. Unless they are an integral part of the story (a la Sixth Sense or Usual Suspects) I tend to seek them out. 

I've read most of the comics and am past where the show is. To me, it's interesting seeing how they've changed characters and where they've followed the comics as opposed to where they diverge into their own show.

Same with Game of Thrones. The books and the show are two distinctly different things, but they share a lot of common story lines. It's interesting to see what those are and how they differ/are the same.

LOL see I don't think he's the worst of the worst. I love Negan. I found myself rooting for him to be honest.

 
I enjoy discussing the episodes which have aired, which is why I enjoy reading and participating in this thread.  I don't watch Talking Dead and I don't read articles regarding the show. As such, the only place I hear spoilers is in this thread. This is where I learned of the Neegan casting. This is where I learned that he's the worst of the bad guys. This is where I learned that he supposedly kills a main character right off the bat, and will do so in some gruesome way. This is where I learned about the manner in which the guy's face was burned. And those are just the spoilers about a single character who has yet to make an appearance in the show. In fact, if it weren't for all those spoilers, I'd be doubting that there even was a Neegan character in light of the "we're all Neegan" talk.

In short, just because you might think something from the comics or that has been leaked in some article online is common knowledge doesn't mean it is.  Put another way, "I'm surprised you haven't heard about the spoiler I just posted" isn't a satisfactory response to someone who endeavors to avoid spoilers but nevertheless enjoys discussing the show.

And yes, I realize that I just reposted some of the spoilers that have been discussed the last few pages. I sincerely apologize for doing that to make a point.

Spoilers haven't meant a thing on this show since Tyreese can't on the scene, mauve even earlier.  Neegan might still not even be a single character, but even if he is, he might die the very episode he's introduced.  Imo.

Game of Thrones spoilers were MUCH more ruinous than anything TWD has suffered from.

I cringe when I see people posting things that are upcoming. Great point about the question if there really is a Negan. A regular viewer who doesn't follow online discussions or articles wouldn't know if there really is a single person. Maybe it's just a cult. And there have been even more subtle spoilers thrown out that you might not have even caught. I don't get why people feel the need to do it.

Correct on the bolded. And there really isn't much to spoil after Negan's intro, especially since they'll probably go in such different directions. It's just that he's such an integral part of the story and his entrance is so big that people just can't resist, I guess.

 
On a related topic, "Calm down, the show has differed from the comics, so the spoiler I just posted may not be a spoiler at all" isn't really a satisfactory response either. Because it may very well be a spoiler.  And even discussing the manner in which the show and the comic differ reveals potentially key information. By way of example, one could argue that revealing the character who was shot by the arrow in the comics (revealed a few pages back) isn't a spoiler because that's not how it happened in the show. But what it does reveal is that that particular character is likely not central to the overall arc of the story going forward.

That's why I put my comment on that in spoiler tags. But actually it reveals that the character that didn't die is more central to the story and comic readers are as clueless to his future as TV-only viewers now. To be fair, comic readers didn't spoil Coral being shot in the eye or the arrow incident.

To be fair, aside from Rick, no one really is central to the overall arc. 

The theme is kind of "Death happens. Everyone is on borrowed time/already dead"

Thank you for using spoiler tags. But someone else posted that piece of information without spoiler tags, which is how I knew about it. 

And yes, I do appreciate that comic readers don't spoil everything. I just wish they wouldn't spoil anything.  It probably won't happen, and I'll likely keep reading the thread anyway because I enjoy the discussion, but I'd enjoy it even more if people could confine themselves to discussing what has actually transpired in the show itself, as well as theories and speculation uninformed by the comics or online articles.

That said, for the comic readers, I get that it is enjoyable to discuss the differences between the comic and the show, and to speculate about where the show may diverge from the narrative of the comics in the future. I think that was the primary reason that the GoT discussion ultimately split into two threads.

I think if one's complaining about the manner in which The Talking Dead presents spoliery info is pissing into the wind; much akin to complaining about the previews or commercials that the show itself allows to be leaked.

Also a bit of a stretch to complain about info that actually happens to characters on the show.  Admittedly, a book reader has validation of certain levels of foreshadowing, but the reality of it is, the show is as about as subtle as using a bulldozer to dig up a china cup in regards to pointing the direction in which its going (i.e. - the motorcycle guy telling Darryl that Negan likes to kill one person off the bat just to make sure everyone gets the point......and something that IIRC, was mentioned by Dwight this past week).

I think spoiler tags should be reserved for important events that happen in the show.

Not spoiler worthy:

This season Rick's crew will take over a prison and fight against some guy named the Governor.

Spoiler worthy:

This episode, the Governor will behead Herschel.

You do realize that we have two separate very active Game of Thrones threads, one for book readers and one for non-book readers, right?  Game of Thrones trumps Walking Dead in every category, including how annoying their book nerds are, though TWD readers are catching up with the barrage of spoilers lately.

One thing I find interesting about how people view leaders like Negan and the Governor is that they are virtually no different from Roman emperors, Alexander the Great, etc. who people admire today. No one remembers the Rick's of the ancient world.

 
When Maggie and BabyGlenn are killed in the finale, do we think Glenn goes off the rails like Rick? Or is going to become a focused badass ala Daryl?

No those are BOTH spoilers. Just like that **** who posted the whole backstory of Dwight's burned face. Ya know potentially spoiling a future episode.
