***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (8 Viewers)

Whoa, slow down there.  Have you seen the show?  They've never even had an actor nominated.
At the risk of being accused of being a Walking Dead Fanboy, I do think Lincoln should've been nominated by now. He really has been quite good. Could make a strong argument for Melissa McBride too in a supporting role.

Since when does moping around and yelling Carrrrwwwwlll deserve an acting award. This show has borderline soap opera level acting.

Lincoln has gotten marginally better but he's still not very good.

What direction are you looking for?  I personally don't think this show is heading to an eventual happy ending.

I haven't read the comic books, and I think this is fairly well known, but I'll put it spoilers:

According to the comics, "the walking dead" refer to the survivors.  I'm not sure why the this hasn't been in the show, unless they are saving it.
Rick himself said that about them in one of the episodes.

You realize they are competing in the best Drama Series with real shows like Mr Robot, Better Call Saul, House of Cards etc.?  Maybe if there were a category for best Horror Series.

The show is basically torture porn along the lines of Saw and Hostel and other hokey and cliche movies.

You get 20 mins of sobbing and introspection about how bad life is, followed by some minor character doing something stupid. Then main characters go fix said mistake. All seems well and then you get a jump scare and someone does.

Tune in next week!

Yup. I think Lincoln's been very good in this series and deserving or else I wouldn't have said it. Same for McBride. You guys feel differently. That's cool.

I don't get the "horror porn" comparisons. I can't stand that genre personally. Love this show obviously so I'm not seeing the comparisons. Obviously this show is violent but I think the storytelling, acting and everything else about it is so far above and beyond anything in that genre. At least the stuff I've seen. But again I can't stand the genre so I haven't bothered to watch much of it.

Put me in the camp that thought this episode was a let down.  The layoff before the reveal of who was killed removed any and all shock value. At this point, Glenn feels like a secondary character.  I can't even remember the last scene he was in.  On top of that, something about whacking Abe first further diffused the Glen killing. After watching one guy pulverized, the second just doesn't have the same impact.

So kind of a swing and miss for me.

I think they're basically identical. They could have just shown big red getting popped one time in the head. Instead, dude beats a bloody stump into the ground. Could just show him pop Glenn. Instead you get mangled Glenn face and dude even comments about "man you're messed up and you're eye is popping out!!"  Then we beat him to a bloody pulp.

Subtle it is not.

Its cool you like it, different strokes for different folks. My brother told me to watch it, he loves it.  I watched it last night since he told me too, can't see myself continuing.

I feel the opposite way. I thought Negan would kill just one person. Once Abraham got smashed, I thought that was the end of it for the episode. Glenn getting smashed like a tee-ball for idiot Darryl's temper was a shock to me.

This.

Skip whacking Abe first.

The season finale should have ended with Negan's first slam on Glenn.  Cut.  Screen goes black.  You hear the bat continue pounding.  End of season.  Their was so much momentum last season with Glenn and Maggie.  It was all lost after the layoff.  Plus Glenn didn't even really have any meaningful screen time this episode before getting whacked.  We didn't reconnect.

The finale and the premier was poorly done dramatically.  Ratings would have been huge regardless.

You'd need to start at the beginning.

I wouldn't call it torture porn at all. It's zombie gore.  The first few seasons deal with zombies, the last few seasons deal with other groups of survivors. The other groups are showing to be much harder to deal with than the zombies.

Which, if you imagine a zombie apocalypse to its logical conclusion, makes sense.

Yup.

I think there would have been more discussion over the summer about where the show will go from here if the killing was shown in the finale. As it was, all anyone cared about was who is going to die. I didn't even care anymore, I just wanted the show to get past it. Now we can move on to the season.

I've seen most of it - probably all of it except last season. I just got tired of it. I was convinced to watch the premiere because it was a "game changer" (not my words).

Just not my thing.

There's only 5 actors nominated every year and he is nowhere near any of them. Nobody on this show deserves to be nominated for an Emmy. Let's be serious here.

I think the finale/premiere way they broke it up sucks.....but I think future watchers who have the luxury to binge watch it will go into that episode with all that momentum.

For sure.  Will be much better and entirely different.

Yes.  I think if you remove the social and legal sanctions from murder (say), you would see quite a bit more of it.  Just look at the international news some time.
I think rape would be fairly common in a world like that.

For TV, they could've killed Abraham at the end of S6, then gone with the surprise kill of Glenn during S7E1.

Wait wait wait, some of you actually think Rick wussed out?

The whole "taking him for a ride" thing was to lay it out pretty clear to Rick that he will kill all of his people, and in a brutal way, if Rick doesn't follow his command.

Sure, Rick could have made a move and maybe even killed him, which would lead to about a 99.999999% probability that all his pals woulda been killed immediately, and then he would have been killed himself.

Yep, great plan folks.

Daryl was a prime example of "when keeping it real goes wrong".
If Rick comes back in the RV and walks out with just Negan's head, the rest of his gang falls in line.

LOL, Negan had the gun and he's not going to actually let Rick just kill him. Also, if Rick does somehow kill him, as soon as he comes out his people are dead and so is he. You think a gang of Negan's crew is just going to bow down to a random guy? This isn't Riddick, they'd kill him and Negan's #2 (likely in the crowd) takes over.

Man, great start to the season and all people in here do is whine about a show they continue to watch. Thread's the same as last season. Have fun.

I don't watch spoilers or commercials.

I just watch from my dvr.

It's beside the point...is there a way to unsubscribe to this thing?
I think under your profile you can go into "manage followed content" to see what threads you are receiving notifications for and click "change preference", then click "do not send me any notifications."   There's also an "unfollow" button there too.  Not sure if it is the same when you are using a mobile app on your phone.

Just throwing this out there but...

Negan >>> x infinity Governor ;)
Negan is no more brutal than the Governor, he just has a much bigger and competent posse instead of a bunch of villagers with guns.
I was going with.. Much BETTER character then the Governor ever was.. Never cared for the way the Governor was portrayed..

Not sure if it was the actor, or the writing for his character but he was close to "dale" in regards to :X

I'm gonna piss a whole lotta people off by saying this but I don't give a rip.

I think Better Call Saul is seriously overrated.

And I was a ginormous Breaking Bad fan and I pretty much think Vince Gilligan can do no wrong.

Remind me again why Rick and Co decided to play mercenary army on behalf of Hilltop?  Cause that's how all this #### started, right?

Food.. Hilltop had it, they needed it.. Hilltop made a deal that if Rick & Co. took care of Negan they'd supply Alexandria with food.

Rick was under the impression that Negan's group would be easy to take out since they've had no problems taking out other adversary's. .. he was severely mistaken and lost 2 of his own in the most brutal way :bye:

I really liked the start of the season. Ive never read the comics so Glenn was a surprise. I had a feeling Abraham was going to die. I didn't have a problem how they ended last season. Like usual, people are not satisfied. This is not a surprise.

I knew what happened in the comics so a part of me thought they would avoid doing a repeat of what happened there just to throw us like they often do. So I was surprised they went beat for beat in terms of how Glenn died in the comics and recreated it on the show as well.

Sorry, somebody else said that JDM should have won an emmy.  You just think Lincoln should have been nominated.  I sit corrected.
Yup. I would not have given Lincoln a Best Actor Emmy over those who have won during TWD's run. Let's be clear about that.
