***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (11 Viewers)

The biggest mystery of the episode has to be Mr. (or Mrs.?) Boots... I think there are a few theories that have merit, which have been mentioned:

- guy who owned the boat - goods were just bait and he is following

- armor guy from Kingdom

- someone from Oceanside

Someone at work who doesn't read the comic books (I don't either) said there is supposedly a group we haven't met yet called the Whisperers... no idea if this is accurate or whatever, but maybe this is a new group.  Maybe the guy who owned the boat is one of them.

Gotta admit, I did not mind seeing Spencer sliced open one bit as I wanted to punch him in the face during the pool scene.  Some interesting stuff happening int his episode.  I agree with whoever posted about tiring of Carol and her desire to be alone.  I also am surprised we have not seen Ezekiel since his introductory episode.  Are they trying to build something in regards to excitement over seeing him again?

I also think it had to be the ex-wife who gave Darryl the keys... she's been trying to give him advice, etc and making sad eyes at him for awhile.

Finally, I have to admit seeing Darryl and Rick reunited was actually kinda cool.

I think Boots is definitely the guy who owned the boat Rick and Aaron found. Who he is in the larger world of TWD I have no clue but am definitely interested to find out.

I think Dwight's ex helped spring Daryl.

I hope either Michonne guts Dwight or Morgan beats him senseless till he's dead. I just hope he's a goner at some point this season. F'n weasel.

I also liked the final scene quite a bit.

I think at some point Dwight is going to change sides, there is a lot of anger in there for the branding on his face and also for losing his wife.  He just knows he can't make a move now, but when Rick's group is gaining momentum I think you will see Dwight change sides.

But yes, he is a weasel and I wouldn't be sad to see him go.

I'm assuming that's what will happen. I just don't give two chits about him and would love to see him gutted.

Rosita killing him would be totally cool too.

F'n weasel.

Whisperers are much further along. I do like your first three guesses.

Did Michonne kill her?  We heard the shot and then the car drive away after her saying to burn in and put in a lake?  Just an odd sequence and they never really gave us a good shot at Negans compound
Yes. Cold blooded shot her in the heads from point blank with a silenced pistol. In the scene you see a quick flash of light and a hear a faint pop, then see the driver's body fall over.

Just a gangster execution

Not saying you are wrong.  I didn't know they're was an after credit scene thus my confusion.
I think it might be important for the people trying to guess who it was.

Now that we know the person somehow followed them back to Alexandia does that change your guesses?

didnt' the woman basically tell michonne to kill her? silencer's in the glove-box, roll the car into a lake, etc.

no.

I'd prefer it if it was somebody from their past. but could still be anybody from Dwight, to island of lesbos chick, to new guy. I don't think it's the Kingdom guy.

wait... what about the guy with the braids/dreads? what happened to him? doubt he'd be sneaking around alexandria... so probably not him. but wtf happened to him?

Even in a weaker season it's much better than Westworld. About halfway through Westworld, it was clear that there was no one to even like, much less even root for.

makes no sense

I believe a scene or two got chopped and that would explain the michonne side story.  It just doesnt fit at all.
For all the extraneous filler thrown in, an extra minute showing more of the Michonne interaction with the female Saviour would have been good.

She knew it was a Saviour, as she walked down the road, past the smoldering mattress pile assuming that road is the way back to their compound and blocked that road.  She must have hid hoping to surprise and overpower whoever came along driving by.  Lucky her, it is a solo chick and not a car full of dudes with automatic weapons.

I believe they actually showed it after they showed scenes from whats to come.

Someone tell me I am not crazy here.  He was outside the gates looking at Gabriel.
Yea boots was there.. could be had a car or he just walked as we don't know the time frame.. Not like Rick was driving cross country or there is a lot of traffic to lose him in

I would think it would have been rather difficult to follow them on foot after driving away, and I highly doubt they were real close to Alexandria and just happen to see that place.

Tracking device?  Just need batteries for that.

I realize most would view it as tacky or stupid or whatever, but The Rock woulda been a good Negan.
Disagree.  I think part of the appeal of Negan as a villain is that he's not this giant super imposing force (Yes, I realize that's what he was in the comics).  It makes you wonder "Jeez, what the hell did THAT guy do to make everyone scared ####less of him in the first place?"

Just think it makes him a bit more interesting.

I am not sure boots guy is the guy from the boat. When they got on the boat there was a body there and they basically stated that was the bat guy. He died on the boat.

As for how he knew where Alexandria was, why are we assuming he just followed them back from the boat. For all we knew he followed them from Alexandria to the boat and back. He could be someone who used to live at Sanctuary and escaped. Maybe he is against Negan and is doing recon on the Alexandrians. Maybe he joins up with them and gives them intel on Sanctury.

Just a thought.

JDM is doing just fine.  Better than I thought he would do.

If the Rock wasn't such a star I have a feeling people woulda loved what he brought to the table for that character.

Also Boots is the guy who wrote the note found with the goods that said you still lose. Psycho of some sort.

OMG, that ending was so funny. I actually wished they would go around one more time through everyone. It was fun to see who could do the least amount of a nod and still make it visible. That's quality entertainment right there.

I barely pay attention now while watching and still thought it was pretty obvious that the woman asked Michonne to kill her. I was waiting for the inevitable gunshot when they showed the distant view of the car.

But I didn't get what was going on with the guy that was talking to Carol and Morgan in that trailer. Is that his own private spot? What were those jars and why did he freak out? because he couldn't convince them to fight?

It wasn't a horrible episode, although I'm not a Negan fan. When he was sitting next to Spencer on the porch, the size difference was noticeable. He's a scrawny dude. I actually thought last night that the Rock would have been a good option too. I went in thinking that it might be the last episode I'd watch but I'm in for the second half.

They really needed an actor who could play a guy who thought he was being kind/personable/nice......but was still just a ####.  Kind of like Ralph Feinnes from Schindler's List( I Pardon You)  or Clancy Brown from Shawshank Redemption...guys who have total power, who think they're being magnanimous...but still can't hide the absolute **** that they are.  Jeffery Dean Morgan is doing a decent job, but he's too personable.  His eyes are too kind, his smile seems to always be legit and he's actually kind of funny.

ETA: And really, with this idea that Rick's core group isn't going to get got, no matter how many times they disrespect him or kill one of his dudes....it makes for an anticlimatic situation.......add to the idea that while Negan is a dictator.....it does seem that if you work hard and follow the rules, you'll be ok.  It's not like he's making those women be his wife.  They're all just lazy sluts who leave their men for nice dresses and more food.  Show me more of an #######; a guy who runs his group like a prison camp, has a loyal group of unsavory guys with whom he shares women/food/liquor and are loyal because they're just as much a #### as he is.  As it is...he isn't REALLY much worse than Rick was in his prime.

100% guessing on my part..

he mentioned before losing others, and his hatred and distrust for Negan and the Saviors is on the same level as Rick and the gang.. So possibly that was his family's trailer where they survived.

But at some point they ran into the Saviors, made a deal, something failed in the deal and the rest of his family perished..

I like it. had the same thought, just not as thought through.

all of that- plus the frustration of knowing something inevitable, but not being able to convince anybody about it.

Private spot, hence the sign hiding the entrance.

Molotov cocktails, hence the gas cans in the trailer with the bottles.

Because he couldn't convince them to fight, have no idea why he or Zeke would put that much stock in what they think in the first place.

You don't have any guts!!

It was a good episode, comparatively.

Jesus just popping up at random times for absolutely no purpose is plain stupid unless he's a double agent.

I think boots is from the women's camp since they were the only one's not represented in this episode, it would be stupid to introduce yet another person/group at this point.

Alexandrians continue to wear the red shirts, meh.

Gregory is the biggest ##### left alive on earth other than cry baby Carl.

I laugh every time Jesus pops up on screen. It looks like he'll peel off his fake beard and hair any minute and reveal that he is really Lori.

makes sense. although still why I think/hope that boots is somebody from TWD past. or even a cross-over from FTWD.

like I said earlier, if it's a complete stranger- showing the face is the same as showing the boots since the audience will continue to say "wtf is that"?

Now that the gang is all back together again this show would really score some points if they'd just plan one 20 minute trip to one of the 10 Costco's withing 10 miles of Alexandria and stock up on supplies to slowly feed Negan so he thinks they are out savaging and buying time while they plan an attack.

Doubt Boots is anyone we've seen before. I'd be surprised if it was.

I have no problems with how Morgan is playing Negan. I think he's done well. I see he won a Critic's choice award the other night so congrats to him for that. I think that's the first major acting award the show's received.

Big fan of Jesus and hope to see him become more integrated into the core group. Add him to my list of people who I'd like to see off Dwight. Pretty much everyone on the show could be put on the list as long as some kills that f'n weasel.

Really can't wait for the second half of the season. Finally invested again after the sluggish first half. Just getting the core group together again and Rick's game face back did wonders.
