*** Official Titans at Patriots Wildcard *** (1 Viewer)

The Titans owe the Ravens. Big time.

Tables were turned ‘08 season. Titans had home field advantage throughout and Baltimore beat them divisional round.

Flacco beat them snapping the ball when the play clock ran out.
Also 2000

Yup. Lewis stole the ball from Eddie George and turned the game.
The blocked FG for a TD was the major turning point, as that made it 17-10.  The Ray Lewis play sealed it.

Sidebar: I still can't believe how great that Ravens D was.  It felt like a major victory just getting a 1st down against them in those playoffs.

Watch how fast these coaches and players run for the exits now that the dynasty is over. BB on to Cleveland , NYG, Dallas maybe?

McDaniels to one of those teams as well.

I'll bet Brady will  be the last guy to announce what he is doing, and it'll be awkward when he does it, since everyone else would've already gotten out of that burning house.

hey, will last guy out of NE please turn off the lights!

so what happened to Van Noy and his crap talking that the 'revenge tour' begins vs Tenn?! like the Pats can just 'flip the switch' and off we go, back to the title game! LOL. this guy.  :lmao:

and the people who said the 2019 Pats defense is one of, if not the best, defenses in NFL history, have some 'splainin' to do. we're waitin'........ :P

I suck at predictions but-

This is the last playoff game for the Patriots for several years.
Agreed.

wonder if Kraft regrets dealing JimmyG yet. 🤔

That would have been a pretty smooth transition. Heck, the transition might have happened this year during the regular season.

So back to @Joe Bryant’s topic about how many QBs the Pats would rather have, I’m pretty sure it’s at least 1 right there.

NE didn’t play anyone for the first half of the year.   That was easy to see.

It does add some fuel to that discussion.

I think if I were an NFL owner, decisions like bailing on the guy you love and got us there in Brady for the shiny new thing in Garropolo would be one of the toughest decisions. Irsay with Manning feels similar.

New England is an organization known for putting business over personal and that's obviously worked. They didn't do it here and it's interesting.

Believe me, seeing Montana wearing the wrong color red in KC or Jerry Rice as a Raider or Seahawk was kind of vomit-inducing. The list goes on for Niners dynasty players.

DeBartolo/Walsh were ruthless in always wanting to dump a player a year too early rather than a year too late.

Brady showed obvious signs of decline - this year he fell off of a cliff. I know everyone wants to blame the players around him, and that’s fair to a point, but at the EOD, Brady is the one throwing more picks, taking more sacks, making poor decisions, floating balls into double coverage.

But you’re right - the Pats had a unique situation with Brady because of how great he’d been. That said, they didn’t hesitate to Wally Pipp Bledsoe when he’d recovered - but Kraft fell in love with his golden boy Tommy.

How would that have worked?  Jimmy G was wanting a big contract and the pats couldnt afford it.  Plus they obviously got another super bowl win with Brady last year.  I think the pats are happy with how things turned out

I never saw that they couldn’t afford it. I’d later read that BB was against the deal.

IIRC the Pats had the cap space, so they technically could have afforded it. They decided not to pay for it though.

That's an excellent point. The Patriots have been so good so often, things like another Super Bowl last year become "regular". Who's to say Garropolo wouldn't have won it too last year. But we know Brady did.

I need to see one season of him just being an absolute train wreck so I hope he keeps playing.
I think every Raiders, Jets, Miami, & Buffalo fan agrees.

my phone was blowing up from Raiders fans glee last night after the pick-6. They’re still nowhere near over the Tuck Rule (or as Papa calls it, the “Tuck you” play).

I thrived on hating Patriots/Brady and now they’re vanquished I’m kind of let down
Peter Burns just said on the radio that it’s like Scarface.... We need somebody to point to and say “there’s the bad guy“ - we need the bad guy. So he hopes Brady comes back as well.

Not to mention Brady didnt care much for him. Closed his clinic the morning Jimmy had scheduled to be treated.

The 2000 Titans gave up fewer yards and fewer yards per play than the 2000 Ravens.  Ravens stole the game and the legacy.

I thought BB wanted Garropolo but Brady didn't and Kraft sided with Brady.   All this talk about BB not wanting to pay Garropolo seems to contradict that.

Brady wasn’t his best, but if he had an Antonio brown he would have been fine,

Maybe. I said something similar in this very topic - AB would have helped mask the decline a bit. Pats lacked a field-stretcher, and they had Edelman as their WR1, which is less than ideal.

AB would have provided a deep threat, taken pressure off of JE & helped off-set the loss of security blanket Gronkowski a bit, but there’s no doubt he’s in decline.

His arm isn’t what it was, his decision making wasn’t great & his otherworldly pocket awareness has diminished. That led to more hits, more sacks, more hurried throws.

so with AB he would have been better. Maybe even good enough to beat the Titans. I disagree he would have been fine.

With AB, they would have been 14-2 or 15-1 and playing at home next week.

Early line is Baltimore -9.5
34-10

Lay the points, that's a great line, it's going to go a lot higher I think, Titans won't be able to mount a lot next week after a heavyweight fight that saw the score stay mostly the same from the 14-13 halftime score.

That drive right at the end of the 1st half where Henry single handedly(OK the OL helped a lot) was killing the Patriots.

2 weeks for Harbaugh to prepare and get his guy ready plus Week 17, the Ravens are going to destroy the Titans. That's the same GD Tannehill, he threw for like 5 yards vs the Patriots. Think about all those playoff games vs Tannehill in the opening round or when Miami was thinking they were turning the corner, Ravens were there to beat the hell out of them every time even as Reed and Lewis were aging(I'm a UM grad, had to highlight 2 HoF Canes on the Ravens)

This is going to be a BLOWOUT BONZNZA, loved the Titans last night, woulda loved anyone trying to take out the patriots early in the playoffs.

Good Luck to Baltimore, my interest is simply another Mahomes-Jackson battle, the premier young QBs in the league.

On a side note, we get DeShaun Watson, Mahomes and Jackson all playing next week, those are IMO the best 3 in the AFC, should be fun.

Easy to say now.  I do believe AB would have helped, but how much I don't really know, nor would I venture to guess.  I don't think Brady is the same QB from a year ago.
Same - I think AB coulda been good for +1 win over the course of the season, and if (and its a big it) he gelled with the offense would have allowed the other receivers to be more effective.

but he wouldn’t fix the OL, nor would he help Brady’s arm or accuracy. He also wouldn’t help Brady’s slower feet or decision making.

so I agree - he would have helped but it’s difficult to quantify how much. He may have helped mask some of the warts that obviously showed.

Made that predictions a week or so ago. Belicheck loves Mayfield and the Browns are simply a real HC and some OL upgrades away from being a force.
It's hard to imagine Belichick going back to Cleveland, but if he did and turned them into a winner, my goodness, his legacy as the GOAT would increase tenfold.
