Boy was I wrong about this.Pleased with the Toby Young addition. No shockers tonight. Those two could have been gone long ago.
Figgered someone had already posted it.p.s. there are blogs?Ding, dong the ##### is dead!
The one dish last night the owner says something like "He nailed it. This is almost exactly like the one we serve."Then that asstard Toby starts ripping it. What a doosh.Boy was I wrong about this.Pleased with the Toby Young addition. No shockers tonight. Those two could have been gone long ago. That dude is horrible.
it looked to me like she was increasingly bored in recent weeks with the Top Chef experience. i'm not entirely sure she needed to go before, say, Leah but she certainly needed to go.Jamie was always a product of kind editing in my mind. Wasn't going to win this thing in any circumstances. Hosea is sort of like Casey from 3. Real under the radar and came on strong in the last 3-4 episodes. If Stefan does a Blais and chokes he's right there to scoop this up. Casey is apparently making an appearance in a later episode as well.
I like the way all the other judges have started cringing when he says something stupid. Which is every time he opens his mouth. I thought the guy from Queer Eye was bad, but at this point I'd almost rather have him back. Gail was bland, but I'd prefer her to either of them. The one dish last night the owner says something like "He nailed it. Two seasons now they've tipped the finals to some extent by showing extended interviews with the same chefs in the same outfit. Last year Lisa was tipped in this manner as well as others. Thinking is they film these shots at the finals. Leah is showing up like this. I've noticed this and it's been pointed out on a few blogs now. I try to do my best to not note the attire in the interviews, but eventually you can't help it. So based on this I'd almost assume she's safe another week.

Mr. Brownstone said:Do not underestimate Big Bird. The judges must have felt the "love" from Carla this past week. Not the "crazy woman love" from 2 weeks ago.Is she next on the block? I say yes.
I think they have to because if you watch the show closely enough you can get the "second order" stuff that people miss. Like the fact that Jamie had been crying. The Third said:Is it me or is Top Chef starting to go the Bachelor route in trying to "trick" viewers into who is going home? I know they want to create suspense and leave you guessing, but they pretty much said in the comments leading up to elimination that Leah was toast. Then, of course, they eliminate Jaime. It's fine to have some suspense, but the show starts to lose credibility when you can't trust what you're watching because the editing is so calculated to deceive you.Oh yeah . . . Leah sucks.
my wife and i find ourselves rooting for her. she's very likable. the fact that she has the chops - classic french technique - and a fondness for comfort food makes her even more appealing. she's definitely a darkhorse contender but would some help to make it to the final three.Mr. Brownstone said:Do not underestimate Big Bird. The judges must have felt the "love" from Carla this past week. when she was explaining what she did with the sauce to Ripert, he seemed almost amazed that she was able to figure it out. I think she has better chops than people are giving her credit for. to me, she's a darkhorse for the final 3. um...no pun intended...kinda.
The is turning into yet another over-produced US Show with quick and jerky editing, cheesy background music, and predictable "plots". Top Chef would be SO much better if it were on BBC, where they actually tell a story instead of just flashing snippets of edited scenes that fit into their desired "show".Along those lines, what the hell is up with Carla? She couldnt do anything but pastry crusts for the first 6 weeks and now all of a sudden she's a classically trained french chefI think they have to because if you watch the show closely enough you can get the "second order" stuff that people miss. I get the sense that they gave her a bad edit early in the season. I had no idea she had a classical french training until this episode. Tied with the last episode she seems to be coming on strong. I personally rank her ahead of Leah and Fabio at this point.my wife and i find ourselves rooting for her. she's very likable. the fact that she has the chops - classic french technique - and a fondness for comfort food makes her even more appealing. she's definitely a darkhorse contender but would some help to make it to the final three.Mr. Brownstone said:Do not underestimate Big Bird. The judges must have felt the "love" from Carla this past week. Really? She hasnt had too much more success than FabioI don't see how anyone could rank either of those two ahead of her.I personally rank her ahead of Leah and Fabio at this point.
I was surprised with the judges choice tonight (last night actually, DVR slip). But when it is all said and done neither one of them is top four material and by now everyone knows that. So I guess it didn't really matter. That being said, I agree with most others here that Stephan is heads and tails above everyone else at this point and unless he totally blows it he should win it all; something a lot of people in here knew after about the fourth episode. I love "Big Bird," have since the beginning when she went dancing across the lawn after finishing her apples, I thought what a goof. By far the best personality, and looks like she might actually be able to cook as well; has she been sandbaggin' or somethin'? If patterns and reason prevail they should dump Leah next week and go into the final four with three of my original four picks; I had Jamie over Carla. I think I was drunk. The way I see it the only question left is what are the odds on Fabio vs. Hosea as the last of the final three? Even?I will stick to my original pick and take Fabio.

she is building some momentum, i think. she must have a ton of confidence after several strong showings in previous episodes. now that they are moving to NOLA, i think her skill set is well-suited for that kind of cuisine. she seems to make food that folks down there will respond well to.ETA - one thing i have noticed is how Hosea is making each and every competition about beating Stefan rather than winning the challenges or impressing the judges. Stefan has clearly gotten into his head. Consequently, he is seriously jeopardizing his chances to win."I used to be a model"Big Bird is full of surprises.
excellent point regarding HoseaStefan knows it also, and pushes his buttons all the timeHosea is pretty immatureLiked when Stefan said Hosea "doesn't have the balls" to be a chefI sort of agreeshe is building some momentum, i think. she must have a ton of confidence after several strong showings in previous episodes. now that they are moving to NOLA, i think her skill set is well-suited for that kind of cuisine. she seems to make food that folks down there will respond well to.ETA - one thing i have noticed is how Hosea is making each and every competition about beating Stefan rather than winning the challenges or impressing the judges. I think the editing is making Hosea look more obsessed with Stefan than he probably really is. When Tom said the judges unanimously thought Stefan's salmon was overcooked, they immediately cut to Hosea and showed him smiling. Who knows if the timing of that smirk was accurate or not. Anyway, I think they are editing to create drama that probably isn't there quite as much as it appears. (Though I do think Hosea really wants to beat Stefan). Finally nice to see everyone do a decent job cooking. Especially glad to see Fabio and Carla wow the judges last night. I agree with others who've said Carla got a bad edit in the early going. She clearly is more talented and has better skills than she was initially portrayed to have. I still find myself rooting for Stefan. I think it's the knowledge that he is clearly the best chef and for some reason I enjoy watching dominance in a competition. Similar to how I can't seem to root against Tiger. My order of most likely to win: 1) Stefan, 2) Carla, 3a) Fabio, 3b) Hosea.Carla has been as consistent as Stefan in the past few weeks and clearly has the ability to pull out a wow dish. Fabio makes too many mistakes (i.e. airline salad) to put it all together and win. Hosea is consistently good, but when is the last time he has come up with something that really stood out?excellent point regarding HoseaStefan knows it also, and pushes his buttons all the timeHosea is pretty immatureLiked when Stefan said Hosea "doesn't have the balls" to be a chefI sort of agreeshe is building some momentum, i think. she must have a ton of confidence after several strong showings in previous episodes. now that they are moving to NOLA, i think her skill set is well-suited for that kind of cuisine. she seems to make food that folks down there will respond well to.ETA - one thing i have noticed is how Hosea is making each and every competition about beating Stefan rather than winning the challenges or impressing the judges. I'm pretty sure when they went to Whole Foods before the last competition, you could clearly see Hosea patting Stefan on the back as they entered the doors. This didn't conform to the idea that Hosea is obsessed with beating Stefan. I know it's no big deal, but I just don't think that men go around patting other men on the back who they hold a serious grudge against or are otherwise obsessed with that person's downfall. Also, there was a clip of them drinking and eating at the apartment, and there seemed to be very little, if any, ill will.If anything, I think Jamie disliked Stefan the most because of the refusal to change the menu thing on that one episode, and the fact that he hit on her even though she was a lesbian, and didn't immediately stop. Also, Jamie had a bit of a chip on her shoulder about always coming in 2nd and 3rd, but never winning. That Stefan was winning everything probably bugged her more than others.I think the editing is making Hosea look more obsessed with Stefan than he probably really is. i don't think Hosea dislikes Stefan. i think he respects stefan, as a chef, tremendously. that said, it seems like in every episode that hosea is talking about how badly he wants to beat stefan and/or how he wants stefan to fail. it's not to the point of irrational but it has to affect his judgment some. his priorities are just slightly off. that's all.I'm pretty sure when they went to Whole Foods before the last competition, you could clearly see Hosea patting Stefan on the back as they entered the doors. Now, Stefan clearly has a sense of humor but I think he's also incredibly arrogant. It's easy to see how he could get into the head of a guy like Hosea.Bravotv.com: Hosea really seems to want to beat you specifically. Do you feel the same sense of competition with him?
I know Hosea wants to beat me. That’s OK. He knows who is the better chef. Do I feel the same way? Not really. I have cooked in so many different countries and continents there is always somebody jealous and wants to beat you, comes with fame, fortune, and good looks. Ha! Hosea that one is for you. My hair looks so much better then yours.
Bravotv.com: Why did you choose the lobster dish? Did you think it would be the easiest as Hosea suggests?
Whole Foods isn’t selling lobster so I thought, Why not?" And it was my favorite dish. I could have picked any of them; that’s the food I have cooked all my life and to Hosea’s remark, It is the easiest one. He almost did not make it with his dish. And when you cook lobster 30 seconds too long it is like rubber. So that is my answer to the question. But if Hosea thinks it is easier then I'm happy to take any of his dishes in his restaurant and re-do them, especially when I kick his ### in Bolder when we go skiing together. Hosea, I’m the guy waiting for you at the lift and waving and waiting for you.
Bravotv.com: You seemed to really like Jamie — how upset were you that she went home?
I knew that question is going to come. I really love Jamie, as a chef, as a person and how she is. She is a straight shooter like me. Lots of people think, that we comes across as arrogant or pompous. Trust me, it is just love and passion for the kitchen. She is by far one of the most creative chefs I have met. She was my biggest competitor on the show. She is fun, and has the sweetest smile and laugh on the face of the earth. And yes, Jamie is that chef I want to cook against in the finale. Boring without her.
i'd put carla ahead of fabio at this point. she's been pretty hot of late....I'm pretty sure last year Richard was an odds on favorite. This year I think stefan would have to be laying 4-1 odds or more.Probably would set odds somewhere like:Stefan: -450Hosea: +185Fabio +350Carla +400Now judging from the previews of what you see it certainly looks like Hosea is in trouble, but they have been real sneaky about the previews for the last several episodes.
What's surprising is in each of the last 3 seasons the chefs cook local cuisine from the area of the final the first round and then cook whatever they want the second round. Why anyone would not have a full stock of cajun recipes is beyond me. Especially someone as smooth as hosea. I fully expect carla to make it to the last round and perhaps ahead of fabio, but fabio would have a better shot of putting together a winning meal in the end if stefan falters. If that makes sense. Right now it certainly looks like from the preview that either hosea or fabio are gone. Though nothing is for certain.i'd put carla ahead of fabio at this point. she's been pretty hot of late....I'm pretty sure last year Richard was an odds on favorite. "Let's go back to Toby Young. What did you think of him as Gail's replacement?Toby Young is a ########. He was just, like, whatever. He didn't bring much to the show. He didn't bring much to me as a judge like Gail. You valued her opinion. I thought his witty banter didn't do much for constructive criticism. My friends are like, "Who is this f--king ########?"e! interview with leah. kind of funny. that's a very good picture of her. she cleans up really well.
