:wall: :wall: :wall:

Nothing good can come from keeping Griffin on the Roster. Absolutely nothing. I can't help but think that somehow, some way, he's going to wind up pocketing that option money.

Well, I've said many times, the dysfunction runs deep here. McCloughan isn't going to be able to excise it all in one offseason. Some of it is so ingrained, it's going to take multiple scrubbings before it's cleaned out.

The conspiracy theorist in me can just see it now:

Snyder: "So, Scott, your wife appears to have gone rogue...thought we agreed you'd keep your personal issues under control...well, you know how you've been advising me to keep MY personal issues under control? You know, follow your lead, and all...well, Scott, my man, you slipped up, so that means I get a freebie of my own: Robert stays."

...and in reality, that's probably not as far off the reservation as some of you might think it is...

I'd love to see the language in that option. If Griffin is the #2, when he's cleared to return, he's going to take practice reps. Players can and do get injured in practice...

...just. cut. bait. already.

ETA: Just saw they are still waiting for him to pass his concussion tests. With the cutdown deadline being 4pm today, I guess they have to keep him around until he's cleared...

...there's still hope!

The thing is this time next year they won't know anymore about RG3 than they know now if they don't play him.

Maybe McCloughan is not sold on A) RG3 being unredeemable and B) Gruden as a coach. And is willing to take the gamble on Griffin not getting seriously injured to see how it plays out a little longer.

Everyone is so damn hung up on Snyder's 16 million. Let it go. It's not your money.

I wanted to see what RG3 had this year and the reasons given for his benching was that Cousins gave them the best chance to win. Football move. No politics anymore. Well, that goes both ways. RG3 is better than McCoy, so he's the backup. Football move. No politics. Fine. Let's just play ball already.

What if scotch believes there's a team(s) interested and that prospective team(s) figured the skins would cut him before the final 53 and could sign him giving up nothing?

Its still possible a trade is in play here, however remote some would consider it.

Either someone calls their bluff and gets him as a FA or they make a trade after the final cut downs have settled and still get some value in return.

It's 12% if you're salary cap. That's not that much lower than the penalties Mara's put on you a couple years ago.

As fans, we take Ownership of everything involved with our Team. As far as I'm concerned, that's my money as much as Snyder's!

Seriously, that's a boatload of cap, for a boatload of crap.

Sebo, I ain't sayin' nuthin' ;) , but if you still need to to see if Griffin has anything, I'd be happy to sit down with you and some videos over a couple of ice-cold Ocelots the next time you're in town, to try and show you that he doesn't.

What we saw in 2012 was the awesomeness that is Kyle Shanahan as an Offensive Coordinator. I reveled in that time, because I hadn't felt like that in years, and I miss it, terribly...but from the waist down, Griffin is now a different player, and from the neck up, he apparently hasn't changed. As far as I'm concerned, that story's been written, and I've closed that book. The article below sealed the deal for me, once and for all.

It isn't just a good read, it's a great read:

The wheels that Griffin had, that could have bought him time with a Coaching Staff to learn the nuances of pocket passing are gone, and apparently he's not much of a student of the game, to boot. It's on Griffin that his study habits weren't up to snuff between 2012 and 2013. I never had a problem with the Shanahan's, and so far, I don't have a problem with Gruden. It's always been about Snyder and Griffin. It's a shame, but it is what it is, and I've cut bait.

Cousins ultimately may not be the answer, but for me, that's what remains to be seen, I'm already resolved that Griffin is not.

Bring on the Season, already! HTTR!!! :football:

It is cut down day. I had one thought: The Redskins will keep 6, maybe 7 wide receivers. The reason: looking ahead to next year, Andre Roberts most likely won't be with the team. He is a lock this year because of his contract and Crowder was injured a lot during training camp.

But there is a pretty good chance DeSean Jackson won't be with the team next year. He was considered a two year rental when they signed him. I doubt that has changed.

And I think there is a fair chance that Garcon won't be with the team next year.

So the Redskins will need new, young wide receivers next year. If they think any of the youngsters are keepers, they will probably keep them.

By the way, hogshaven.com is saying Rashad Ross has made the team.

I read that article and I get what you're saying. I just think he still has a chance to be a great QB. From the article you linked:

Griffin is 25 years old. It’s crazy to think he’s not going to have the chance for a good second act in the NFL, just three years removed from being the offensive rookie of the year.
I'm definitely down for some beers. :suds:

"Any decision I disagree with must have been forced by Snyder."
I agree that not every bad, or at least controversial, decision can be blamed on Snyder. But the way this info has been reported seems to make it pretty clear that this decision came from the top.

Link?
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13587791/washington-redskins-keep-robert-griffin-iii-backup-qbETA: That's one. Schefter's tweet said everyone "in the building" wasn't happy about it. I could have sworn I saw a Keim tweet or post that said there was disagreement between ownership and coaches/football people (can't remember the exact term he used, and I haven't found the reference again) regarding the decision to keep Griffin.

This may be what I'm remembering. It's from the Russini/Schefter report from last weekend.

High-ranking Washington Redskins front-office officials and coaches want to part ways with quarterback Robert Griffin III, but are meeting resistance from team ownership, according to team and league sources.

Put your name on it or GTFO. "Team and league sources" don't do it for me. If Snyder was going to step in it would have been real easy for them to stick with the plan as it has been since February. Start Griffin. Let him sink or swim. Doesn't make sense for him to put his foot down about just a roster spot.

Yea im at the point where i basically tune out most things that come from un named sources. Mostly because 75% of it is nonsense. If we tune it out maybe the media will stop with the BS stories?

Yep, and then there was a subsequent 'report' that said that the entire organization was on board with the decision to get rid of griffin. Grain of salt..'

Its not about Snyder's $16 million, not about the cash. Its about that cap hit, that's huge and would screw us over big time.

If I'm not mistaken, Griffin is going to be examined by the independent neurologist tomorrow. I'm willing to bet that if he clears concussion protocols, he's going to be released.

No one has made a big deal about how Griffin was re-evaluated last week and DID NOT PASS. I think big red flags go up if Griffin is not cleared to play this week.

Another note: the NFL's independent neurologist who is assigned to the Redskins resigned. He is still overseeing Griffin's case, but they are training the new neurologist. No real reason given for the resignation, although we can speculate it is either for the confusion over Griffin's case or the Redskins forced him out.

Jackson, Garcon, Reed, Morris, Jones... all draftable: for such an allegedly bad teams there seems to be a lot of FF potential.
I drafted Jones and Cousins as fliers in the last rounds of my redraft league. I think with Cousins at QB, the yards will be there. Not sure how much scoring they will do.

From what I saw last year and in the preseason, the passing offense goes through DeSean Jackson's position. Ryan Grant thrived there. And I think Rashad Ross was playing there. Jackson will be fine. I am not bullish on Garcon due to lack of receptions. I am not big on Morris due to Jones taking carries away and vulturing TDs.

Jones sounds like a real threat this year?

Any other thoughts on Garcon? Anyone think he can have a bounceback? Just wondering of he if a good trade target.

Washington TE Vernon Davis vs. Philadelphia S Rodney McLeod
The Redskins could have to play without their top offensive weapon, tight end Jordan Reed. That means a bigger opportunity and responsibility for Davis, who this season has 10 catches for 94 yards while serving as the No. 2 tight end. He could draw coverage from McLeod, who leads the Eagles with two interceptions and 33 tackles. Cousins loves going to his tight ends, particularly on third downs, and the aging Davis still has good speed and can get open.

heres your answer though:  https://twitter.com/hunterloganx/lists/beat-writers

Question for the Redskins fans: does Rob Kelley stand a reasonable chance of taking over for Matt Jones, or is the talk just about getting Kelley a few more carries than the mere few he's getting now?
