***Official WIS Sim XIII Draft Thread - The HoVG (2 Viewers)

is there a way to get each box score (for my games) emailed? i can't access WIS at work, but i can get to my email.
I don't think so. There is an 'email box score' link, but it just emails you a link to the box score at WIS. It looks like this:

John Franco (jfranco77) would like you to see the following page on WhatIfSports.com:

(if the link above is not active, just copy and paste the ENTIRE link into your browser address bar)

In addition, John Franco comments:

My pitching is going to be bad, very bad.I might need Catfish to pitch every other day.
*our* pitching is doing well so far. I wasn't so sure about Charlie Hough when you took him, but he's been solid.
Any man that can smoke a cigarette inbetween every inning is a work horse in my book. Crushed me as a kid when I found out, but I have learned to respect it at this point.

I have a sick wife, all my Christmas shopping done, and I'm in Venue 1 awaiting a challenge. Catch me while you can...

Anyone else here having trouble even opening a damn box score without errors? If not, I wonder if it's something with my computer or Firefox or if Fox Sports just doesn't give a #### about WIS anymore.

What a shame. There was a time when WIS was truly a novel concept that seemed to just plain work. Ever since WIS was bought out by Fox Sports, the software been going down the toilet slowly, but surely.

Just about 1/10th into the season.

Jim Hickman is killing me. He's early trade bait if someone has their own terribly underperforming player or needs a good all around OF bat.

My team is not understanding their role in this shtickfest. 0.500 ball is not what I signed up for. I might have to bench Catfish Hunter.....or start him every game.

I know karma is going to bite my ### later on this, but this might be my best WIS team yet. I can't believe that I actually drafted a team with good pitching.

Jeez my team sucks.

Question for another WIS league Im doing. Its a random league so Im pretty much stuck with this problem. All my hitters are heavy HR and single hitters and all my P's give up HR's at a high rate, but pretty good OAV. What would be the best staduim for this? Would you go with a + or - stadium in those 2 areas?

I hate seeing my pitchers get bombed. So if it was me I would go for a -HR park and hope to string together enough offense in other ways. But if you have very good OBP hitters and good WHIP pitchers then you might hit 2-run HRs and give up solo HRs, making a +HR park worth it.

Yeah, unless your HR/9 and HR/9+ are just horrendous, I'd go with a +HR park and just hope to slug it out.

Some of the HR/9+ are in double digits, but might as well go for offense. More fun. Its a $120 million league so hopefully not all teams will have major offenses. Thanks again franco

Hope everyone had a great christmas.

Bout a fifth through the season. Things settling in. He'll of. Division we got... And TU is back from he early dead tied for first.

Well, this is a first (for me at least).

Player of the Game:

Red Faber gets shelled

That's right. The player of the game was on the losing team.

BTW, trade time has definately arrived. Not sure exactly what I need, but a few thoughts:

Needs:

Reliever or SP Upgrade

2B Swap (my guy is good, in theory alone).

Gots:

OF Vada Pinson - Guy has been on fire, big avg and some doubles, can steal - A+ range.

OF Jim Hickman - Just waking up, so probably won't get enough value for him, but open to deal him.

OF Doug Glanville - Roll player, but sick steals and good AVG+

OF Dusty Baker - Good AVG+, great D (A++ range)

2B Bill Sweeney - Only in a swap for another underpeforming 2B. 125 Avg+, good OBP and A+ range. But he's been struggling for me.

SS **** Bartell - Solid all around SS with very good D.

SS Cecil Tavis - Bartell has performed enough I could consider dealing Travis if I got enough in return.

Open to ideas / suggestions.

Need a reliever, preferably lefty. Also need a catcher (Dietz sucks).

Will trade a starter not named Vida or Spud, Terry Shumpert, Bobby Bonilla, or Charlie Hickman for one or both.

And if someone can tell me why Joe Berry has gone from Fireman Award Frontrunner to having an ERA in the mid 6's within the span of a couple days, that'd be terrific.

I love that only 6 (if my quick count is correct) teams have better records at home than the road. So much for home field advantage
