Yep. It was nice to see. CC is coming into form in May, which has been his MO for some time now. He absolutely dominated the same team that shelled him in April.all cylinders tonight
A-Rod is a difference maker, of course.
It's nice to see, but I won't go further than that.
I will say this -
The people that keep saying "this team just isn't that good" are dead wrong. They are "constructed" to win and win big. They just aren't performing well and have injuries.
The bullpen is much better than this - they're underperforming terribly. The same crew last year were good. I don't know if they'll become a strength, but I expect them to pick it up as the season progresses and get the job done.
If Tex starts hitting like we can, him and A-rod have the potential to be as dangerous as Ortiz-Manny once were. I said "potential." Simmer down naysayers. The comparison is fair. Will it happen? Who knows.
Wang is a major X-factor down the stretch. His injury/meltdown has hurt this team more than anything, IMO. He was supposed to be one of the best #2 starters in baseball this year, leaving Brunett to be one of the best #3 starters in baseball, and Pettite to be one of the best #4s. Now everyone is shuffling around and we're looking desperately at Hughes and Chamberlain, AGAIN. This was not a formula for success last year. It won't be this year.

they have the potential to be better imho.however, as i said at the beginning of the year, i think tex will struggle in the NY spotlight. just a hunch. he's had the excuse of not having aroid in the lineup to protect him, let's see what happens now.

IMO your right and wrong, these last Yankee teams are constructed to win and win BIG.....in season.Playoffs, not so much.The last several years, the Yankees essentially have over priced DH's at most positions.The glory days of the Yankees saw tight starting pitching, great bullpen, timely hitting, and a knack for producing runs, when they needed to.Now, very few players can/will lay down a bunt.The team gets old FAST, no one is scared of them anymore, and throwing $ at the problems rarely helps.I hope I am wrong, as a Mets fan who enjoys watching the Yankees succeed, I just think they are really not that good of a team.I'm tired of looking at their team on paper in April and thinking, there has never been a better constructed lineup, only to see them bat 220 and lose in the 1st RD of the playoffs 3 games to 1.I will say this -The people that keep saying "this team just isn't that good" are dead wrong. Eh, I don't know you can judge the team five years from now based on what you see in the majors today. Obviously the Yanks haven't made a concerted effort to build the system up in the last 10 years but that could be slowly changing. We've seen Cervelli, Cano, Melky, Wang, Joba, Hughes, Kennedy, Melancon, Veres, Coke at one point or another the last 2 years.There aren't a ton of home-grown guys currently up, but we don't know how the team will look even 2 years from now let alone 5. The farm system has guys like Brackman, Melancon, Jackson, and Montero who all have very high upsides. Guys like Matsui, Damon, Pettitte, Posada, Mo won't even be around by 2012 -- or much sooner in some cases.flysack said:

Youkilis is an MVP candidate, but 5 years from now he's pushing 35. Five years is a long time. How long? Five years ago, Joba and Hughes weren't even with the team yet. So you really can't bury them for not having homegrown talent come April 2014 when it's only May 2009.

I won't stick up for the fans holding up syringes, but our franchise player is in RF. And Camden Yards sold out every game when the stadium was brand new for quite a few seasons. Unfortunately, we've had 10 years below .500. I have no doubt the cheaper seats are selling. But I'm not being mislead about anything. The first 25 rows are empty, and that's embarrassing for a team that holds itself up like the Yankees do. Don't act like you wouldn't be here bagging on the Sox if the first 25 rows of Fenway weren't sold out either. If you seriously believe that the front 25 rows of Yankee Stadium are empty, then yes, you are mislead. It's simply not true. Yes, there are some empty seats in the lower tier. 25 rows is beyond exaggerating. Take it from someone who's been there a few times this year. There are PLENTY of people at the new stadium. Like I said earlier in the thread, the corridors, shops, bars, etc, are packed with people. Constantly. From where I sit, I get a good view of every level of the stadium and I can see the people walking around. Believe me, I wish they'd sit in their seats and watch the game and make some friggin noise, but that's another story.I have no doubt the cheaper seats are selling. I'm an Army brat. I was born in Hawai'i and lived there until the age of 6. From 7-13, I lived in Piedmont which is just north of Oakland. Went to about 16 games in that span with my father. My high school years we lived in Brooklyn. Hence, Raider/Yankee fan.Now tell me what this all has to do with you getting :(

I don't mean to totally slag a fanbase, as you said, when things were good they sold well. If you DIDN'T have what is probably the best park in baseball, I'd better understand it, the attendance there is spotty lately. My jabs are more directed at the needle people. That said, regarding the stadium, I don't believe they've had a full capacity sellout yet, but outside of that "millionaires horseshoe", which I'm guessing is between 1500-2000 seats, you can't get a ticket for Yankee Stadium.I won't stick up for the fans holding up syringes, but our franchise player is in RF. As i said to AI, its them winning as much as anything that brings the fans in. But that said, 10 straight years over 3 million fans, 4 straight years over 4 million, and 3.5 million tix sold already this year, I think a Yankee fan could brag about attendance if they so chose.
