big difference between bumping posts in the yankee thread about the yankees seven months later then bringing up threads from yrs ago in other threads completely irrelevant to the discussion.

also, worth noting that while winning the East and having the best record in baseball are nice accomplishments, they aren't going to mean much if this team flames out iin the playoffs again

I think it's perfectly fair game for people to come here and gloat about a team losing but, I think the point has been proven that 1) Garardi is a pretty good coach and 2) The Front office did as good a job as they could have setting up this team....

Who did you want? Mattingly? I thought Torre ran his course and frankly he had some AWESOME teams back when the competition wasn't what it is today...

Hes made a ton of moves that have left me scratching my head (and I think I posted about a few of them when they happened). His work with the bullpen is light years ahead of Torre but everything else Torre did I liked better. And I was not an advocate of firing Torre. Not saying they should fire Girardi or anything. Im just not sold on him being a pretty good manager. Id say hes average to below average until further notice. Looking forward to see how he handles the playoffs.Sheesh... I hope the AJ from the last few is starts is the AJ we see next month too.
Loving the fact ARod hit 2 HRs & 7 RBI in one inning yesterday to get to 30 & 100 on the yr.
Also, loving the fact that DET & MIN are battling it out until Tue. Im hoping MIN wins because Yanks have had their # for years now. If DET wins I realize Verlander cant pitch in game one which is great but he can still go in game 2 and game 5.

First off, I wasn't "right". I was just plain old right. No quotes needed. Because I was. And I'm not a chest-thumper who goes around reminding everyone about it. But this was different, because just about EVERYONE ridiculed me for believing in this team back in the early part of the season. Someone called me out in the Yankee Stadium HR thread, so why can't I call people out in this one?And like Shady said, I didn't go back and find quotes from other threads and bring them up here. I just went back to around the April/May/June timeline to find some of the better ones and re-posted them. I wasn't paying attention to who I was quoting or anything, so I don't see how that can be considered stalking. I also wonder how was any of this hindsight. It's not like I waited on the entire season to play out before commenting. I made my comments back in the beginning of the year, which you can clearly see. That's not hindsight -- it's foresight.
In any case, I'm also glad these two are needing to use their top pitchers just to get in, and a big thanks to the Vikings for playing tonight so that the game needs to be played tomorrow. Every little bit helps in a short series!

As much as I can not stand several Yankees, the playoffs are better when they are in them.

I skimmed certain parts that looked interesting, bit of a long read. Not sure what it has to do with the Yankees though, as it seems more of a commentary on American sports in general but uses Yankee Stadium to make its point.

Yep, it is more about baseball in general and uses the Yankees as the extreme, altho I think Wall Street's influence on the Yankees market is unique compared to the rest of baseball. It used to be cheaper to go to a baseball game instead of the movies, now it's cheaper to take a vacation then to go to a Yankees game.

I dunno, I mean it's certainly cheaper to go on vacation than sit four people in the primo seats, but I don't know anyone who has those.All I know is, my seats were $25 apiece at the old stadium in Section 3 (upper deck behind home plate). Now they're $25 apiece at the new place in Section 420A (upper deck behind home plate, exact same section angle as the old place but I'm about 5 rows or so closer to the field).Alias said:

Give him some credit. The man has resurrected his career. And he pwned the Yankees this year in Cleveland. I wanted to dismiss him too. I bet every Yankees fan did. We hate him for the travesty he was in pinstripes. But the man has remade himself into a quality #3 starter. He did go toe-to-toe with Petitte. Then it came down to the bullpens....where our advantage was enormous.

I absolutely HATE bad weather / Cold Rainy Games....
I know both teams play in the same conditions but, it just makes it lousy for the fans to get extra pumped up and kinda nuetralizes any advantage...... Feel the same way about Football in the snow.
I was at Game 2 of the 1996 World Series Vs Atlanta and it was a bitter cold day, might have been misty... The stadium was silent the whole game... Nothing.... I was at Game 6 of that series and it was a beautiful day in many ways.

girardi really screwed up yesterday. Sure he didn't have to bunt twice with 1st and 2nd with nobody out and Cano up and sure he got out coached sending Gardner on an obvious count where they called for a pitch out. And sure he used Gardner as a pinch runner instead of Guzman which was odd, but there were 3 moves that were absurdly stupid.
1) Pettitte and Jorge seemed like they didn't know what to throw to Vlad with a man on 1st and 2 outs and a 2-2 count. Girardi comes out to the mound and I have no idea what he said, but I was thrilled when I saw Posada put down the 2 for a curve ball. I said to my brother, good job Girardi that is what they need to throw. Then Pettitte threw to first base and the next pitch was a fastball down and in to Vlad and all he had to do was drop his barrel on it and the series changed. Horrible selection and horrible location. I am lumping this into #1 because the Yankees have not learned to stay away from throwing fastball to Howie Kendrick. he homered off a Pettitte and then tripled off of Joba...you wonder how he hits 80 points higher against the Yankees? Conversely how many fastball did Swisher see?
2) How is it possible that Marte pitches to one batter on one pitch and the is taken out with a lefty up so he can be replaced by Coke (who is not as good against lefties as Marte is?) In a tie game in the 8th inning what in the world of stupidity was going through Girardi's mind?
3) Taking out Robertson when he was looking very good and had only pitched 2/3 of an inning and you are in extra innings? You need to try and get 2 out of him there.
Girardi had his head up his rear.
The only saving grace was Scoscia failing to pinch run as they would have won the game if he did. In fact, i would have stolen 2nd base off of Rivera and then squeezed and if it didn;t work you still would have had a man on 3rd with one out. Not stealing either way was a terrible decision.
