My math could be off slightly, but I believe Miggy is on pace for 588 RBI.
I thought they were gonna walk him with the bases loaded today, not really sure why they didn't.My math could be off slightly, but I believe Miggy is on pace for 588 RBI.
RBI is overrated. WAR...
His .515 BA with RISP (.577 with two outs) is just a statistically anomaly. He is just ####### lucky he is so awesome in key situation.RBI is overrated. WAR...
If it helps, I knew you were joking.Wait, what?
I believe I saw that Ryan Raburn is .667 (8-12). Miggy needs to step it up a bit.RBI is overrated. WAR...His .515 BA with RISP (.577 with two outs) is just a statistically anomaly. He is just ####### lucky he is so awesome in key situation.>RBI is overrated. WAR...
It does. Although the Cabrera v. Trout debate did bring the rbi as overrated position into vogue. If it helps, I knew you were joking.Wait, what?

Sounds like this is gonna get tied up in a lot of legal red tape.####! Peralta having an all star like season and he is on the potential list of players that could be suspended due to the Bosch investigation: http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9301536/major-league-baseball-suspend-20-players-including-alex-rodriguez-ryan-braun-part-miami-investigation
I am not sure the stat on this, but my guess is Detroit is going to smash the record for blown late-inning leads by a division winner. So far they have blown 9 leads in the 7th, 8th or 9th inning of which 7 times they ended up losing. That is awful. How is this team only 6 over?
I like how MLB is getting the dealer to snitch on the users. Somehow that seems backwards.Sounds like this is gonna get tied up in a lot of legal red tape.####! Was Peralta taking this stuff last year? If so he should ask for his money back.
Well your guess is a bit off.I am not sure the stat on this, but my guess is Detroit is going to smash the record for blown late-inning leads by a division winner. Interesting stuff! I know the fallacy of excluding certain performances ("if you take away MJD's 85 yard run in week 3 ...") but - Porcello had that Angels game where he couldn't get out of the first inning without giving up 8 or 9 runs. Over the course of the season and with a lot more innings pitched, that will even out. But it still is having a significant effect on his numbers. I was surprised by his HR issues...I recall Max getting bit by that more than Porcello, which seems to explain why Max has a high ERA in comparison to his low WHIP.Warning: More stat geekery in this post!
Just read an article on blessyouboys.com about the Tigers rotation. They took a look at the staff using SIERA, which is a relatively new pitching metric that is the best one yet at predicting future ERA. Some don’t like to use it as a measure of what has happened, but it is as good as we have at predicting what will happen.
By SIERA, the Tigers starters ranks (in all of MLB)
2- Sanchez
3- Scherzer
6- Fister
9 – Verlander
10 - Porcello
The holy crap name on here is Porcello, who is sporting an ERA over 5. His K/BB has become ace level, but he has been horrible at leaving runners on base and giving up homeruns (his HR/FB rate is the second worst in baseball, a number that is historically very luck-driven).
Just found it interesting that by SIERA, only five teams in baseball have a better ace than the Tigers fifth best guy.
It baffles me that this team is only six games over. Don’t forget that they have scored the second most runs in baseball.
Prophetic.Well your guess is a bit off.I am not sure the stat on this, but my guess is Detroit is going to smash the record for blown late-inning leads by a division winner. They have blown 8 saves this year when leading in the 7th or later, St Louis has 10. Tampa, Arizona, Dodgers, Orioles, Cubs, Mets, Astros and Indians all have more. The bullpen by most statistical measures is middle of the pack, it isn't great but it isn't awful either.
The Tigers have scored two or less runs in 14 games this year, and they've lost 12 of those. Last year they were not shut out once, it has happened five times this year. So for all the 8 run outbursts this year they are scoring 3 or less runs in more than a third of their games, and have lost 17 of those. Close games they are blowing leads, in other games they simply aren't scoring enough runs with a lineup that should consistently produce at least four runs.
Dude.Frustrating!!! Yet another great pitching effort that suddenly fell apart late. But: Fielder stranded two in the bottom of the eighth after they walked Miggy. He's got to come through in that situation (rather than his third K).
Scherzer has actually been fine with the HR this year. His Achilles heel thus far has been stranding runners. His LOB% is pretty miserable (sixth worst in baseball among qualified starters).Interesting stuff! I know the fallacy of excluding certain performances ("if you take away MJD's 85 yard run in week 3 ...") but - Porcello had that Angels game where he couldn't get out of the first inning without giving up 8 or 9 runs. I wonder how many more wins we'd have if VMart were hitting at his historical pace. Nevertheless, it's early June and we've got a 2 game lead over Cleveland.
No doubt. The one guy above reproach on this team right now from an offensive perspective is Cabrera.Dude.Frustrating!!! Yet another great pitching effort that suddenly fell apart late. Was it not clear I was referring to Fielder coming through? No doubt. The one guy above reproach on this team right now from an offensive perspective is Cabrera.Dude.Frustrating!!! I was saying "dude, check Fielder's numbers v. the rest of the league and more specifically after a Cabrera walk."Was it not clear I was referring to Fielder coming through? I was actually disappointed to see Torii move Dirks to second. That set up a clear intentional walk. (If Dirks was still at first, would they have walked Miggy anyway? Hmm.)No doubt. Yes, he's been really strong following Cabrera walks. It'd have been helpful if he had come through again yesterday. But ..Cleveland lost, too, so no damage. Lotta games to play yet.I was saying "dude, check Fielder's numbers v. the rest of the league and more specifically after a Cabrera walk."Was it not clear I was referring to Fielder coming through? Actually I kind of like Price when he talks baseball..it is just when he gets stuck on the same lines over and over again that he wears me out. DDs daughter played in the same VB club as my daughter. I used to see him at VB tourneys in the winter all the time a few years back...the guy is the same as he is on the radio and loves talking baseball.Jim is using "buggy whip" pretty much four times a game now. oof
Still better than either of those TV guys we have, they are horrendous. Thank the baseball Gods for Dan Dickerson.
Jeez dood. We went over this. Trout is the clear MVP and flat out best player in the AL if not all of MLB.Was at the game today and noticed that Cabrera is really good.
any news on what they going to do? Move everyone up a day pr bring in someone else?Sanchez scratched for tomorrow's start with shoulder stiffness, oof.
14th round which is actually not that late.Tigers just drafted JV's brother in the whatever round, late. He's an OFer at Old Dominion.
I'd take MadbumDoctor Detroit said:Sanchez scratched for tomorrow's start with shoulder stiffness, oof.
I'm gonna wait until dparker has a look at him before making any judgments.I'd take MadbumDoctor Detroit said:Sanchez scratched for tomorrow's start with shoulder stiffness, oof.
