Orange County FBG'ers? (1 Viewer)

After 8 years away (6 in Texas, 2 in f'in Minnesota), I'm back. Rejoice.

Looking to watch some college football on Saturday afternoon either in Newport or Huntington, preferably something by the beach with a view of Mother Pacific.

Yes, I'm being persnickety but if you were a OC kid living in Minnesota for 2 years you'd be fiending for a beach day too.

So, sports bar (or bar with a few TVs)... thinking either Sharkeez in Newport or Huntington Beach Brewing Co. (not sure if they have TVs out on their deck or not).

Anyone got anything or should I just go watch football and leave the beachy day for another time?

:coffee:

Rudy's in Newport has a nice sports bar set up and you get the view of the ladies but not of the actual ocean. Been awhile since I was at Mutt lynchs so not sure about the tvs but used to be pretty good.

HB Brewing Company has TVs and is a good place to watch inside. The TVs outside are not great. Also, sitting outside directly in the sun when it is in the 90's does not sound enjoyable to me. Not really going to be able to see the ocean from any of the HB bars.

HB Brewing was a favorite spot of mine back in the late 90's / early 2000's.

Never really hung out at Blackie's / Mutt's much... gonna give it a go.

I live up the hill from the Peninsula and don't make it down there that often, but a buddy of mine likes El Ranchito and Newport Brewing Co. for games... Probably because they are a bit less of a zoo than Mutt's or Rudy's. I guess it depends on what you are in the mood for.

Crossing my fingers that I can get a seat at Blackie's. Headed down now (from central HB) along PCH.... sunroof gonna be open. May or may not blare Jazzy Jeff.

Been to Newport Brewing a good number of times. Great eye candy.

Come say hi if you wanna drink up with a lurker who finally had enough with his "other" fantasy football website. :coffee:

Sorry I missed it... I had plans with my daughter yesterday afternoon. I saw the end of the USC game last night... it was glorious making fun of all the USC fans.

Good times at Blackie's. That place is smaller than I remembered... and for some reason I thought the place had way more "ocean frontage". Had a couple pitchers with a buddy of mine, then headed over to Original Pizza (man, forgot how good that place is) for a pie before rounding things out at Sharkeez.

I had to drop a 20-spot to park (in this tiny little lot) across from Sharkeez but figured it was worth it given meter parking was non-existent. It was a busy day down there for sure.

Was home and in bed by midnight. I'm old.
