As much as I really enjoyed mad max, I can't envision that movie winning any of the major oscars.

I'm not sure that Alejandro will win 2 years in a row. It's pretty huge if he does, only 2 directors ever have won back to back.

I liked it, but felt like another fast pace, over the top action film for me.  I will say it was very well casted.

I thought The Road Warrior was substantially better.

I actually like that having a first year girl scout but yeah everything they have had has been weak.  What was the star wars thing on stage?  Like it was adlibed

It was a standard action movie.  On the better end of them but not some kind of stand out.  Just one of those things that caught some perception momentum.

i don't even know who won, i was just expecting Stallone.  Yeah he might have been up to -500, the odds were off by the time i looked.

Nothing is landing tonight... the opening had to deal with the black stuff but the room gave him nothing and apart from the "Rocky is Science Fiction" line it was flat.

But my god, its been a dead horse all night.   And it could be revisited if it was landing.

I think he was just trying to be funny while pointing out that people have different taste and those tastes are relevant too.

Mad Max has 6 Oscars, halfway through the show, and still this thread is filled with people saying, "Eh, just another average action flick."  JFC.    Look, I can understand if it did nothing for you, b/c you're probably old, stodgy, and boring, but it is exceedingly rare to see an action film with this level of design and production.

Would have been nice to see him win and I thought he was a landslide favorite...Hollywood must not like him behind the scenes.

I thought the same thing, and an asian has never won a best acting category to my knowledge, there have been several black winners
