Best Opening Scene in a Movie (1 Viewer)

I hated Fight Club and not a huge BP guy. Except Oceans Eleven. He was great in that.

I guess different strokes but I think he's one of the best actors of our generation. He could've taken a bunch of romcom roles for an easy check but did the opposite. So many great characters in classic films. Love his comedic element as well. One Upon a Time in Hollywood was hilarious and his latest cameo in Dave shouldn't be overlooked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRBehecqa_E

12 monkeys, he was amazing.

Brad Pitt and I remembered why I didn't care for this movie the first time around. It goes from great acting to bad acting immediately.
Really, I thought he was hysterical in that movie.

I think the "over-acting" was intentional and helped form the character.

I didn't care for it when I saw it the first time and I had less patience for it this time around. It was off-putting, even if intentional. Why go from such a terrific, dramatic opening to whacky FM DJ schlock?

His acting gets even worse the further you get into the movie. It had to of been intentional.

Inglorious Basterds is two movies blended together. The first is a drama about a young Jewish woman seeking revenge against the people who killed her family. The other is a comedy that sort of satirizes The Dirty Dozen. Those two stories don't intersect until the the third act of the film.

The reason why the introduction of Brad Pitt's character seems disjointed is because the movie whips hard from a dramatic moment to a comedic moment. Tarantino does that all the time.

That’s a bingo.

  • Lt. Aldo Raine : Well, I speak the most Italian, so I'll be your escort. Donowitz speaks the second most, so he'll be your Italian cameraman. Omar speaks third most, so he'll be Donny's assistant.
Pfc. Omar Ulmer : I don't speak Italian.
Lt. Aldo Raine : Like I said, third best. Just keep your ****in' mouth shut. In fact, why don't you start practicing, right now!

It just didn't work for me.

Watched Inglorious Basterds last night because of this thread. I didn't like the movie at all when I watched it the first time (only time) but I did recall the opening scene being very good.

Opening scene is still very good, very dramatic. But then it cuts away to Brad Pitt and I remembered why I didn't care for this movie the first time around. It goes from great acting to bad acting immediately. I shut it off a few minutes into his bit. Meh.
The over acting was on purpose and made me laugh. The last 45 mins of that movie were the best imo. I assumed the over acting, especially the accent, was to counter Chris. It worked perfectly imo.

I really like Brad Pitt and still hated Fight Club...

I pulled up all the Bond movies on HBO last night just to watch the openings because of this thread and ended up watching Dr No. Got to bed at 1 a.m. after a couple more cocktails than planned. Just decided I’m WFH today. Most of the old Bonds don’t hold up very well but Moore and Connery are still way better than any other Bond.
