I actually went into that thread and wondered about what I would post, but I couldn't come up with any "regret" that seemed worth posting. Missing a concert when I was a kid? Not talking to a girl in a bar? The time I got drunk and mouthed off to a guy unnecessarily? I'm sure I could come up with a few of those. But I couldn't come up with any significant regrets. Yeah I thought that would be his top regret for sure.
I see Otis's points though. The bullying mentioned in that thread is pretty deplorable and not something that everybody does in their youth. Also, I don't think it's that crazy to have little to no major regrets. I never did anything to anybody that haunts me (heck, I think the worst thing I did as a kid was call a girl fat in 8th grade behind her back and she found out) and aside from some wasted opportunities with girls and pining for the ex for way too long (and not studying for the con law test the day after we broke up that caused me to lose my scholarship) I can't say I have any real regrets.

A fair amount of kids did bully in some way, especially before it had the attention as an epidemic like it does now. Except now instead of making fun of a look or body part they tell kids to drink bleach and kill themselves. Different times. Not excusing any of it, including my actions a long time ago

He's an amusing poster but is judgemental as hell toward those different than him. Maybe it's because he has a lot of money and is a hot shot lawyer. I don't really know. Chet is cool as hell and I think he has a lot of money, though. I guess it's what you're raised around.

Otis is a character. I've known other people like him. He gambles a lot, he drinks a lot, he makes lots of money...he's a big shot and he goes to great lengths to subtly let others know how much money he has and what he does for a living and how much he won or lost, or how hot his wife is etc.. etc... We all know people like this and many of them live on the internet, Facebook especially.He's an amusing poster but is judgemental as hell toward those different than him. The thing that's frustrating with people like this is that they'll never own up to the behavior... they may not even be aware of it themselves, but there is an undercurrent with everything they do... little jabs, one-upping, very socially competitive.

It's a shame if that's what you really think. There aren't many people here as willing to poke fun at themselves, put their mistakes on display for the world, compete at things he'll probably lose at, and keep coming back and laughing about it. That hawk screech thing in the shark pool is awesome. Everyone gives him grief when he gets it wrong and then he comes back and does another one again the next year. And he's actually trying. Tell me who else keeps putting themselves out there, writing funny stuff, getting railed on, and keeps coming back for the abuse.
The weight loss challenge with woz, he could easily have said oh well I lose. Instead he's posting updates about gaining weight and what awesome foods he's eating. Then he shtick cancelled the contest and declared it a tie. If that's not funny and self deprecating enough for you, what is?
I know guys like otis, too. But he isn't the guy who had to be the center of attention because he wants everyone to see how great he is then shies away from his mistakes. He's the guy who keeps his friends laughing and gives and takes a lot of #### and lets it roll off his back. He's an institution here. A crumbling shadow of the institution he used to be, but an institution nonetheless. Like yahoo. He's our yahoo.
