Otis fad diet thread — yoga, fasting, and kevzilla walking on🚶‍♂️ (2 Viewers)

I'm currently in a "mini" fast.  I finished dinner last night at 6:30 PM and then had a protein shake after working out at 8:00 PM.  Aside from coffee and water, I haven't eating anything this morning (so about 16 hour fast now).  What I noticed is that around 8:30 AM, my stomach was screaming at me to eat something.  After drinking more water/coffee, it got better.  I'm going to eat lunch in 30 minutes or so but I could definitely go all afternoon with no food.  This fasting stuff isn't that difficult and I'm sure gets easier if you are doing it everyday (16/8) or a longer one every couple weeks.

Skipping a meal is not a fast, homie.

It does get easier. What you're going thru is the worst of it. And drinking water, tea or coffee helps a lot. The longer you go, the easier it gets. At 24 hours, you get to a place most Americans have never really been: real hunger. It's an interesting sensation to feel the difference between "I want something to eat" and "I am truly hungry".

Short family vacation this weekend up in the Catskills. We’ll hit the restaurant we got engaged at (Italian — I think I’ll allow carbs that day) as well as one of my favorite restaurants in the world, one of those farm to table joints with incredible food. Going to be a tough 48 hours to navigate there.
You're definitely due for a cheat day after everything you've accomplished over the last 7 hours.

This whole fasting thing is genius.  The ultimate hack.  Think about it.  If I even just stop eating one day a week, and not changing my diet otherwise, by sheer calories in/out, I should lose 1/7th of my current weight.  So, 235 - 33 = 202.  Figure that Monday isn’t usually a heavy eating day anyway, and factor back in 1/3 of that and BOOM.  GOAL WEIGHT.

Basically eat however the heck you want but just don’t eat on Mondays.

This guy is a genius.  I would like to subscribe to his newsletter.

And actually, I’m skipping food this time a full 48 hours.  Above and beyond baby.

We may need to amend the rules of our bet as I thought there was a calorie floor...

Just broke my 48 hour fast with peanuts and a Coors Light* on the train (*They don’t have Bud Select 55 just anywhere, so I have to amend the plan in emergency situations, and this is my backup).

Normally I pound a whole bag of peanuts and a whole beer.  Halfway through each and I’m stuffed.   Like, threw out the rest of the peanuts.  And may just nurse the beer till I get home.

This is the best ultimate perfect diet ever.  Just too easy.

Dude, no schtick, wtf is the matter with some plain water?!?! Even some grapefruit flavored bubble water? Whythis insistence on drinking crappy beers to derail your weight loss?

I actually do drink flavored water on my commute a lot of days.  You think a hundred calorie Coors Light is going to derail my weight loss, for serious?

Hey by the way, Judgey Mcjudgerson — what did you eat yesterday?  And today?

Asking for a friend.

Black coffee and plain old water, same as today, chief. I was out of Bud Select 55s.

It isn't gonna help.

You do you, but it seems like a slavish devotion to the idea of drinking beer, rather than actually enjoying one. I just can't see why anyone drinks the stuff, period, let alone while trying to do keto.

Coors Light basically is just water. :coffee:  (and some Pamplemousse La Croix)

Down 45lbs in two months is insane.  Srsly?
Helps when you start from almost three bills, wish I could keep up the pace, but I'm falling into 2 lbs per week, which is still ok with me.
A little more exercise and some severe calorie calorie restriction.
Today I've had a bowl of ramen (500 Kcal), cup of cottage cheese (200 Kcal), 2 hardboiled eggs (150 Kcal), an ounce of pot roast (100 Kcal) and a cucumber (50 Kcal). All between 6 PM and 10 PM.

I've been between 1200-1500 for probably 50 of the past 60 days and being so fat means that daily calorie burn is still pretty high.

so, are you doing 20:4 IF, no keto? how has the hunger been doing it?

I've never been able to get into keto. I like carbs too much and I have a tough time feeling satiated off of red meat and veggies.

There have been a couple of days when I broke early, but I've also been good about eating responsibly even when I don't make it to 6. I also started with a 16:8 and transitioned to 20:4 about a month ago.

Now, the hunger is good. Cucumber and watermelon are my key fruits. Six cups of watermelon are 300 calories. Two cucumbers are about 100. I tend to end the night with one of the two which keeps me full through going to bed. Tend to eat one "big" carb meal and drink at least 40 oz along with it.

Going to a Mariners game tonight.  Ballpark food.   :scared:
Eat before you go - you won't make it the whole game without snacking on something, but you'll minimize the damage.
This was excellent advice.  Which I did not take.  But I'd scoped out the offerings online and had a few things targeted.  I've usually eaten sushi there, but they have rolls rather than sashimi, and the sushi rice doesn't fit with my plan right now.  So I had the Beyond Meat Hot Italian Sausage, which was really tasty.  Even Mr. krista, who is firmly carnivoriffic, thought it was very good (he said as he ate pepperoni pizza and wonton soup).  The sausage and 2/3 of the too-large bun were enough to get me through the game, along with 1.5 glasses of wine.

That’s awesome! And congrats on your results! Keep it up, brother!

I was curious whether you were getting hunger pains related to insulin spikes and blood glucose fluctuations, but apparently not.

If I fast when not doing keto, I get this hunger pang feeling at about 24-48 hours that isn’t “gut hunger” ... almost feels like an alien consciousness telling me to graze. like Spider Man’s Venom suit symbiosis. Near as I can figure, it’s gotta be my body’s response to insulin/grehlin/leptin levels. I dunno, it’s 2:30 am and i am rambling.

Doesn't matter, you're doing awesome.  That said, you did fail to mention how many Bud Select 55s you are consuming a day on this plan.

That’s nuts. And amazing progress. In two freakin months. Congrats. Keep it up.

Day 6:

Well, I wanted to push myself and I’m just exhausted.  I didn’t drink all day and got some steps in but scraped most of the rest as I played hard at the beach - swam about a mile and did the boogey board with the kids.

- 22,402 steps - 2 mile beach run, walked on the beach a lot

- 50 pushups -

- 125 squats - knees feeling a little tender

- 0 abs (0 Spider-man plank crunches; 0 leg lifts; 0 crunches;  0 ab bicycles; 0 teasers)

- Stretching - NOPE

- 100 oz of water - NOPE

240.1

26.1%

Here we go

One day at a time.

Today started off with coffee. Will have a piece of salmon for lunch with some sparkling water. Maybe some nuts and another sparkling water for my train commute home. Will figure out dinner when I get there.
9/16/19 - 240.1, 26.1%

9/25/19 - 233.5,  28.9% (the BMI thing seems really screwy lately; I lose weight and it goes up)

Lost so far: 6.6lbs

Back to eating, staying low carb.  Actually wanted to do another fast today I felt so good about it, but I have another work lunch and don’t want to cancel again, and it’s really awkward to sit across someone at a restaurant and not eat anything...  I’ll order a piece of salmon, my go-to.

Well, two nights in a row I have gotten out of my chair and rode my exercise bike.  Another couple and I will have a nighttime routine established as well as a morning one.  Hopefully that will kick me back into a pattern of a bit more weekly weight lose.  We will see.  I only did 20 minutes each night so going very light, but that is 20 minutes I am not reclined in a chair eating some nuts. I miss the nuts, a bit.  They were my only indulgence.  Still, they are little calorie packed fat bombs so the indulgence had to go.

Trying to remember that though 20 minutes is next to nothing, it is still something.  being next to nothing I ought to be able to do it as it is not inconvenient.  it is not enough to break a sweat so I don't have to shower after.  It is not enough to change my sleep patterns as serious aerobic exercise can do before bed.  It is simply enough to keep me from dozing in my chair watching T.V. or listening to music but that should be enough to keep my metabolism awake.  The ease of it, that is the feature.  Easy to say it is not worth it, it is so little, but easy to do it, so I think I shall.  We will see tonight.

if you’re looking to do low impact cardio and limit snacking, you should look into DEEZ.

Stick to the plan and you will have success.   And, one light beer/day can be part of the plan.  Jesus.  You are not training for the Olypics.

Wish I had a scale at the beach - I’m eating and drinking like crap but working out and playing like a madman - my guess is I will come back up a few pounds.  Enjoying the new energy in this thread.

LET’S GO!!

i did a warrior sculpt, yoga class today.  it's yoga with weights.  i was absolutely drenched in sweat.  worked lots of body parts that usually get ignored.  gotta do more yoga!

workout #17 this month

On my way back from the work trip so going to get started. Heading to the A’s/Mariners game Friday night and will also not take @MAC_32‘s advice of eating before I go. Maybe I’ll start for real Saturday.

I can’t function at work after I have a Coors Light the night before???

I’ve turned my drinking wayyyyy way down since it was discussed in here a couple weeks ago. I’m basically sipping the lightest beers I can find, with occasional white wine spritzers that have more seltzer and ice than wine.
Why even do that? What's the point?
