Otis fad diet thread — yoga, fasting, and kevzilla walking on🚶‍♂️ (1 Viewer)

Why even do that? What's the point?
It’s relaxing?  I enjoy it?  I like the taste?  I find it a nice way to unwind at night?  It’s a habit that isn’t so terrible if I do it this way, as opposed to drinking a full bottle of red wine myself?  Other?

Last night I had a Bud Select 55 AND a half glass of white wine.

Squats at 5 am.

Otis stop being so self destructive

Week 1 in the books - got to take the good with the bad.  I wore down over the course of the first week - main reason was eating and drinking like crap and not getting enough rest - also, ramping up the exercises.  I faded the last two days on everything but the steps/miles.

Day 7:

Steps: 25,098 (ran 9 miles)

Pushups/Squats/Abs/Water/Stretching:  Big Fat 0

Week One Totals:

  • Steps: 180,080
  • Pushups: 680
  • Squats: 1,250
  • Abs: 940
Week One Daily Averages:

  • Steps: 25,727
  • Pushups: 97
  • Squats: 179
  • Abs: 134
Very pleased with the steps but being on vacation I had a lot of time to invest - will really have to work on getting steps at the office.  I wasn't really doing any of the other routinely so I see it as a big net positive for me to get that much in.  I feel like I can bring these averages up over the course of the upcoming weeks but not sure enough to get the original goals.  I'm ok with that but will try my best.

LET'S GO!!!!

Old scale started working strangely (wasn't a battery issue) so we splurged a whole extra $15 and got one of those that tracks the BF%, muscle mass, water weight %, and BMI.  Will be interesting to track, but it was a bummer to have an instant 3 lb weight gain. :kicksrock:

Remember that you have not failed on the primary goal, which was to dedicate yourself to altering behavior. The subsidiary goals of your specific plan may have been too lofty, or not, but you did not give up on them, you just failed to achieve them on your first efforts, efforts which are ongoing, which is the real point.  This is success, just not total success. Define it as such.  If you define it else whys that is the track to submission.

Only question is he beast or machine

9/16/19 - 240.1, 26.1%

9/25/19 - 233.5,  28.9% (the BMI thing seems really screwy lately; I lose weight and it goes up)

Lost so far: 6.6lbs

Back to eating, staying low carb.  Actually wanted to do another fast today I felt so good about it, but I have another work lunch and don’t want to cancel again, and it’s really awkward to sit across someone at a restaurant and not eat anything...  I’ll order a piece of salmon, my go-to.
9/16/19 - 229.1

9/26/19 - 220.4

Still eating.

Home late after hellish commute, haven't eaten all day, no food in the house other than delicious breaded chicken cutlets.

Ordered up some sushi and hibachi chicken.  #ketobishes

Was originally going with the fresh blueberries in the cottage cheese, but have recently switched up to the frozen mixed berries.  I found the blueberries from costco to pretty sour 50% of the time, they're more expensive, this actually tastes a good deal better and I suspect is better to get some berry variety.   Just take a handful of berries, let them soak for a few minutes in some warm water to thaw out and then mix in with cottage cheese.  You're welcome.

While you were stuffing your pie hole I got in 16 miles

curious why there’s no food in your house. I thought you would have hired help for that

Wow, you get dessert?  Must be nice.

Frozen blueberries by themselves straight out of the freezer are very good.

The downward spiral continues.

Downward in alcohol and junk food consumed, and in weight

232.5
Damn you’re about my weight.

44 hour IF starts Sunday night. Is it weird that I’m excited for it?

Oh, is it DV if I tackle my wife for buying and putting out a ton of Halloween candy already?

I think Otis has taken the lead from you.

Weekends are definitely a challenge for our hero.
No doubt.  Otis likes to live it up.  But I’m confident that with my new program it won’t be much of a setback at all, even if things move marginally off the rails.  I’ll just do a 48 hour fast during the week, and that’ll erase the weekend and then some.  If I keep doing that consistently, I should be all good.

And here’s the beautiful thing about where I am right now: it’s not about perfection.  My new habits don’t involve junk food on the couch at night.  And they don’t involve guzzling booze and getting drunk every night.  I’ve cleaned up my diet and it’s fairly easy; my new habits are much more healthy; and combined with the gym habit I already have in place, I’m now set up for success.  I don’t care if I win any of these bets, or whether it takes me 5 months instead of 3 to get to where I want to be.  I think I’m finally onto something that works for me.  Just gotta keep carrying it forward, and the further I get from those bad habits of the past, the less and less likely it’ll be that I’ll revert to them.

Gang, I seriously think I’ve cracked the code here.

jklol

But I am having a cigar with some white wine spritzers and Select 55s. Grilled up some tuna steaks and skirt steaks.  Living the dream baby.

Bourbon shandy here, BlOtis. Pairs great with salmon filet and asparagus. But anything pairs well with a bourbon shandy.

I may never stop giving you ####, but like with my personal training clients it's because I want you to be successful. There's a balance and I hope you find it. Enjoy your indulgences in moderation and come out the other side no worse than you were a few hours ago.

Thanks my man. Didn’t know you were a personal trainer. Maybe I need to pay more attention to you.

Day 9:

Last day at the beach so stayed out playing longer.  Swam half a mile, did some kayaking and got a 4 mile run in.  Active day just didn’t have time for it all.

Heading out for a run soon and then driving back. Looking forward to getting back in my routine.  Plan is to fast today and tomorrow - I’ve eaten so much garbage the last 6 days my body will thank me.

- 14,023 steps - 4 mile run and some beach walking

- 50 pushups -

- 100 squats

- 100 abs (0 Spider-man plank crunches; 25 leg lifts; 25 crunches;  25 ab bicycles; 25 teasers)

- Stretching - NOPE

- 100 oz of water - NOPE

Thanks for making feel like a lazy lump for the last week.

Day 10:

Good day - drove home from the beach but got a couple miles in before we left.  I didn’t watch TV basically all week and just drove 6 hours so told the wife I’m hanging out in the living room and watching football the rest of the night while doing sets of stuff.

 - 10,450 steps - 2 mile run

- 275 pushups - YES!  Breakthrough here.  Granted it was much easier spreading these out but assuming I stick to my plan I should be able to keep it up and then slowly catch-up on the weekends.

- 300 squats

- 250 abs (50 Spider-man plank crunches; 50 leg lifts; 50 crunches;  50 mountain climbers; 50 teasers)

- Stretching - CHECK

- 100 oz of water - NOPE

Here’s the exciting part for me - I stuck to my fast.  Was able to do all this fasted.

LET’S GO!!!

Some updates.

First and most importantly, Woz sent me this pic.  It made me happier than it should have.

Second, went off the rails slightly last night due to some visitors and a drinking session.  I was otherwise having a great day--lunch out with the family, but I ordered a keto salad and sparkling water.  Felt great.  Drank a couple Select 55s.  But then when company got here, things went a little sideways (more on this in a moment).  Was mostly good, but drank a lot and, after they left, I figured we're going on vacation today anyway for a couple days, so I'll roll off Keto for that.  Ate some of our girls' breaded chicken tenders for dinner because we had nothing else and it was late.  Poured a single glass of red wine--honestly didn't care for it, didn't finish it.  That's a win right there.  At a few Oreos, and even those didn't really do it for me.  Tasted kind of like chemicals to me?  And also had a bag of the smart puffs I used to crush on the couch.  Tasted like crumbled up envelopes.  All in all, I had some junk food, and didn't much like any of it.  So even though it was an off the rails evening, it was actually pretty great.

Speaking of the evening, it was super weird.  My wife has remained close online with my ex girlfriend from college.  She's funny and smart and attractive and so Mrs. O and she always had kind of girl crushes on each other.  Mrs. O tells me the ex and her family are coming over for the afternoon for a couple drinks.  I was annoyed and moped about it--I have so little free time and don't want to spend it with crazy exes from a former life and their husbands.  Anyway, everyone got completely bombed and it was fun, and the ex draping herself on Mrs. O was sort of hot, right up until the ex made things really awkward by repeatedly talking about how her mom kept saying she should have married Otis, and joking about how Otis has a nice big house and she could have lived in a big house, etc. etc.  It was the kind of thing that could have been a funny throwaway comment if she made it once, but she kept at it for like an hour.  She comes and is sitting in my lap at one point in the midst of all the awkward comments. She's telling me we should buy her the house next door because "you owe me." (I don't know if this is because I dumped her 20 years ago, or because I was "her first," or what the hell else she could have been referring to).  I kept trying to change the subject and defuse but she was bombed.  Just really awkward in front of her husband.  It got so bad her 10 year old picked up on it and made a comment like "but then I wouldn't have been born."  Just weird and uncomfortable all around.  So yeah, I'm chalking last night up to "weird night" and moving on.

Vacation starts today.  Not going to go crazy, not very much drinking or junk food, but going to eat good, real food at a couple of our favorite restaurants (including pasta at the italian place) and just not worry about it.  Back on Keto Tuesday, and looking for a next fasting opportunity this week.

How long does it take you to run 24 miles BTW?  Gotta take up half the day or more?  Even if I had the physical ability to do this, I can't imagine telling Mrs. O peace out for the next 6 hours, I'm going to exercise now.

As for me - kind of treading water - had an enormous cheat day yesterday - started yesterday at 160.2 and this morning was 164.7 :lmao:

Start a 9-day vacation tomorrow- goal is to have a good time and be sensible eating while running and swimming every day.  I may come back at 160 or 170 but either way when I get back I’ll begin OPERATION 6-PACK.  I’m going to do 7 weeks up to Thanksgiving and make myself miserable with my diet and exercise.

LET’S GO!!!!
Back from vacation and I ate like crap for a week but was doing crazy amounts of activity. Fasted yesterday and plan to do the same today to jumpstart Ketosis. 163.9 this morning so I’m pleased with that.

You could have ended all this quickly by reminding her you are no longer the handsome hunk she dated.  Sure, she would have a big house, but she would also be with Blotis, not Otis.

Not much different than going to play a round of golf or watching a football game.
