Skipped yesterday on the erg due to it mostly just being a pretty terrible day. Back at it today with 7,500 meters in the books. Shall shoot for another ten day streak.
I'm almost never more than 48 hours from my last pizza or more than 48 hours away from my next pizza run. French fries are almost as bad and they(Fish house near me) make really nice thick cut in house steak fries that are double dipped in the oil, they cook them once and then they are dropped again before they hit the tables. I order a grilled fish sandwich but I cannot avoid the fries in there, dunk them in ketchup and salt them up or my favorite, malt vinegar.Good news: another 7,500 down. Day 2 in a row.
Bad News: I love pizza. And cake. And French fries. And almost everything else unhealthy.
Taking it one step at a time though. Lock down the exercise then get better on the diet.

MGM to Allegiant and back? Here I am, figuring out how to strategically use Lyft on the one day I'm going to spend on the Stripwith the game and everything i walked 10 miles
Amen, brother. Also, we need to spell this out in duct tape on Otis' mirror and fridge.caustic said:Need to keep reminding myself that sustainability > short-term results.
where in your back?caustic said:No issues with my diet the last couple days, and ran 3 miles this morning at 7:50 pace. Blood pressure is keeping steady at 115/75. My back has felt extremely sore after these last couple runs, which is new. Might be a posture thing, might be an overuse thing, not sure. Trying lots of stretches but I may just be due for a recovery week before increasing my mileage further. Need to keep reminding myself that sustainability > short-term results.
Right in the middle, and it’s in the muscles not the spine itself (which is why I’m not too concerned at the moment). Bending over to stretch really hurts but does make it feel a bit better afterwards.where in your back?
Heading out for a four-day vacation starting in a couple of hours. My goal for this week is simply not to lose ground. What was going to be a weekend of hikes and beach walks is now going to be spent mostly inside due to a big storm coming in (50 mph winds!), which will make everything more challenging.
it might be a core issue. maybe focus on tightening your abs a bit, as you run. not crazy clenched or anything. just tighter.Right in the middle, and it’s in the muscles not the spine itself (which is why I’m not too concerned at the moment). Dude, it sounds like A LOT. Congrats on your progress!Haven't posted here much, but have followed and used for inspiration. I appreciate all the posts and figure I'll contribute a bit. Down 30 pounds so far since 04.15 and that's with a 30 day road trip thrown in and some other Holidays. Been eating healthy and keeping the calories down during the week with no alcohol and I play a couple hours of competitive Pickleball each night. Only drink on Friday, Saturday, and sometimes Sunday. Saturday is the cheat day and the only day I drink beer. That may not sound like much, but post COVID where I was boozing it up every day and learning to cook and look like Prudhomme in his prime it's a pretty big step.
From May 2020 to March 2021, at the age of 50, I lost 156 lbs in 10 1/2 months, nutrition only...no exercise. 315 to 159. Hit goal, 165, in March. Next week will mark 6 months post goal and I'm holding steady at 165. I needed a new goal this summer so I signed up a 5k even though I didn't run at all. Downloaded a training app and hit the streets (almost literally hit the streets when I first started). Ran my first 5k 3 weeks ago and got 3rd in my age group...29:58. Running 5k #2 next Saturday, 9/24, and #3 on 10/9. My health journey has changed my life. Off blood pressure meds two months in...July 2020. Ripple effect has been huge...16 year old daughter is within 2 lbs of being down 50 and my wife is over 40 lbs down in about 4 1/2 months.
It's a program called Optavia. You eat 6 times a day every 2.5 to 3 hours, drink minimum of 64 ounces of water, and Total game-changer for me. I've lost and gained weight my whole life while steadily creeping upward to 315 lbs. Offers an easy to follow plan (it does involve products...plan is called 5&1...you eat 5 "fuelings" a day and one lean & green meal you prepare), a coach that walks along side you throughout, mindset materials, and an incredible online community. I had hit a point where I was considering sleeve surgery because I was listening to the TV describe how I was high risk for Covid...extremely obese, over 50, high blood pressure. I had a friend from high school drop 65 on this and two friends from college (a married couple) each lose over 100. I mentioned it to my doctor and he was familiar with it...encouraged me to give it a shot. Thank God I did! I committed to one month...dropped 27 lbs in my first month...came off blood pressure meds at the end of month two and never looked back. From May 2020 to March 2021 I lost the 156 lbs. At the end of it you transition over 6 weeks to reintroduce foods you've cut out and train yourself to eat those foods in a healthy manner within your new approach. Now that I'm 6 months post hitting goal, my habits have proven themselves changed and dependable for long term success. I'm happy to answer any questions.Un-effing-believable. Huge congrats!! I'm sure we'd love any tips you had on the "nutrition only" way you did this.

update on 9/21: I ate all the pizza and drank all the wine on vacation, still lost 0.5 lbs. Back at it today!
