Out of nowhere players (Dynasty) (1 Viewer)

Yeah I've read a lot how Agholor looks like a different player this year. Not sure I'm ready to buy that until I see how he looks in an actual game. As a dynasty owner I'm starting to lose faith in him.

I think Stills is a pretty good player but I think their teams view their roles differently. While it's true they both are deep ball catchers it seems the Eagles were getting Hollins time in the slot.(Maybe as a replacement for Mathews next year?)
FWIW, Hollins averaged less than 3 receptions per game in college. He was a deep threat specialist in college and wasn't even on the field a lot of the time. He has the size/speed to be more, but It will take a lot of time/coaching for him to develop in the pros. He was drafted in the 4th because he is an effort player and will contribute to special teams, on top of being a deep threat. There's an outside chance Hollins is a starter next year and if he is, it's definitely outside. I think Agholor is the most likely replacement for Matthews in the slot. Agholor's season has a lot of bearing on whether they resign Matthews.

I got the strong impression that they don't rate Matthews, consider him part of the Chip Kelly regime, and won't be greatly bothered when his contract expires.

Xavier Grimble is currently the #2 TE in Pittsburgh and could contend for #1, he's got real athletic ability. Likewise Erik Swoope for Indianapolis and Rico Gathers in Dallas.

Not quite out of nowhere, but Javorius Allen could return to relevance with the injury to Kenneth Dixon.

Noah Brown has huge wingspan at WR in Dallas plus Terrance Williams is never going to set the world on fire and after that it's various smurf-like possession guys like Beasley and Switzer, so there is an opportunity for another big receiver to emerge oppose Dez.

Gillislee is getting all the love in New England but I wouldn't be surprised if Rex Burkhead has relevance, he looked good as a starting back for Cincy at the end of last season.
Noah Brown is someone to keep your eye on.  At 6-2 and 22 pounds, he could create some mismatches.  However, the 6-3 Brice Butler has been a standout at camp and punctuated that success with a solid outing last night in the Hall of Fame game.

I'm keeping an eye on jace billingsly in Detroit- shifty slot guy that lit up preseason last year. If he can get by Kenny g for the wr3 spot he could be a decent ppr guy.
i'm more inclined to monitor Jared Abbdrederis. Rodgers always spoke really highly of him in GB but couldn't get ahead of the entrenched starters. in Detroit, however, there is opportunity for him with his skills - hands, route running and decent size - in that offense. Caldwell has be complimentary of him too.

2016 udfa Chester Rogers is getting reps as the number 3 receiver in Indy after some ota hype and preseason hype last year.  With moncrief in his final year of his contract, there could be an opening at wr2 next year, or sooner if moncrief's injury history continues, and the other pass catchers are fairly limited.   Doyle and gore can both catch the ball, but this is hardly a crowded receiver situation, so if he breaks out his upside is really only limited by his own ability.
Moncrief hurt his shoulder today - Rogers may end up the number two receiver this season

they said the same thing about him last year. he couldn't unseat Jennings, much less make him sweat, in the end. i'm not sure he'll do any better this time around with less direct path.
Maybe not, but he fits the thread. At the least, he's worth an offseason expanded-roster pickup until the first preseason game.

Darkwa in limited use, averaged close to 4 ypc the last 2 seasons. He has the unimpressive Paul Perkins ahead of him. Gallman in the mix too.

It's wide open. I can absolutely see a situation where Darkwa seizes the top RB slot.

UFDA Trevor Knight showed off a decent arm last night.  He's the poster boy of buried on the depth chart, but Palmer is 37, Stanton is 33, leaving only Gabbert under 30 on the team.  I doubt he makes the 53, but could rise up through the PS given time.

He couldn't beat out Jennings though. I'm not saying it can't happen but Perkins, Gallman and Vereen are ahead of him. Long odds there. If Perkins is injured and Gallman flounders then I'm paying attention.

Malcolm Brown RB - Rams

This guy is progressing just like the typical story of how an undrafted RB becomes a superstar.

Signed after draft as FA.

Lasts all Training Camp...cut last day and immediately signed to Practice Squad.

Stick on practice squad all season and finally makes the 53-man roaster week 17.

Keep progressing...slowly but progress in 2016. No practice squad. On main roster all season.

In 2017, according to McVay he's "established" himself as Gurley's backup.

So, he's a talented athlete (5-star in HS and #1 Rb in the nation) who is trying to make the most of his shot. Keeps advancing and the Ram's are advancing him slowly. Almost like a baseball player going through the minors. An injury to Gurley puts him in the the starting role. Kid shows he's a fighter, gotta give him that. And he just turned 24 in May.

TE Rico Gathers, DAL - Although no one expects the Cowboys to just cut TE Jason Witten, they could save $12.2M against the cap (with no dead money hit at all) by doing so.  Rico never played HS or college football, but was a star power forward at Baylor.  He is just 23 and looked good in last night's preseason game.

Some talk that pumphrey is passing Smallwood in Philly for third on the depth chart.  I'm not a big Blount guy to begin with, and sproles is really old.  I know he's small, but all indications are the eagles love this kid. He could be fantasy relevant as soon as mid season.
The Eagles can save $4M against the cap (while eating no dead money) by cutting Sproles this year. I am watching Pumphrey very close.

Someone I am keeping an eye on for a long term keeper.   Witten has to be nearing the end soon and DAL would be wise to be grooming his replacement.  Gathers looked good Thursday (nice grab for the TD) but it is a long season.   Worth watching closely though....

Damiere Byrd really shined for the Panthers in their first preseason game last night.  He is undersized (5-9, 180), but lightning fast.  Byrd ran a 4.28 forty at his Pro Day a couple years ago on grass.  He has yet to do anything in the NFL when it matters, but if Curtis Samuel is not ready to fill the speed receiver void left by Ted Ginn Jr., Byrd could make the 53-man roster and get an opportunity to display his blinding speed when the games matter.

im also watching Chad Hansen of the jets now... enunwa is out so that currently leaves Anderson and probably fellow rookie Stewart as the starters at WR. Hes got good size 6'2 205 and while he probably doesn't have the big play ability that Anderson or Stewart have he could become a solid possession guy.

I know this isn't exactly the right place for it, but I just got Marquel Lee in my Zealots IDP league for the minimum auction bid. Recent reports have him running with the first team defense as MLB.

Borden started a thread for Chris Carson, and there is some really good information in there.  It is worth adding Carson's name here as well.  Carson is currently buried on the Seahawks' depth chart, but as a dynasty prospect, it is worth cataloguing his name away for future reference.

Mack Hollins WR eagles. I don't think the path to playing time is as difficult as it looks on paper
It isn't. Jeffery and Matthews are free agents next year, Algohor the year after and I have read that Matthews could be traded soon.
Looks like a starter by 2019 at the latest. Could be WR 3/4 this season

Off to a good start. That was a nasty stiff arm on the way to the end zone

If you didn't include the link, I would have thought for sure you made his name up as a play on Derek Jeter.  I can't add this guy strictly because he just doesn't have a football name.  Kind of like Moritz Bohrniger last year.  If I can't imagine an announcer calling his name frequently, I avoid him.  Great strategy.  I know
Well, not American football anyway.

Great rugby name too.

Matthews has been traded.

Movin' on up

I'll keep beating the drum (though it's a small one) but if fox / Loggains can utilize him right, Tarik Cohen should be really fun to watch. He might be nothing more than a gimmick, but he looks like tyreek Hill and he's a helluva lot cheaper.
Don't have much at rb in my main league, added this guy at the end of our rookie draft and now I'm pretty happy with what I've seen. Hoping he can be a nice change of pace guy that I can maybe fill in my rb2 spot every now then and hope he can get 8 points or so

Giggity

Trevor Davis is a name I am keeping on all my watch lists.  2nd year guy, so the learning curve is smaller, and he's got the jets to create points from scratch.  None of the GBP WR's have been a model of consistency, every year it's someone new popping and part of that is Rodgers not caring one iota about who gets the glory, he just throws to who's open.  If Davis gets a chance due to injury or regression he could surprise.
Big bump here...

Saw this guy lineup in a 2WR set towards the end of the game. Guessing it's when MVS was cramping? Still, seems to be 1st off the bench and in the rotation even with the coaching change so possibly someone to monitor?
