Owners Meeting - Who Goes for Green Bay? (1 Viewer)

Bob Harlan is the President of the Green Bay Packers and generally represents the team at all functions that would normally be attended by a team owner.

Thanks Qbert. That's sort of what I figured.I don't know anything about Mr. Harlan. What's the scoop on him? I wonder how the other owners view him? Is he uber wealthy?

bob harlan he is a real down to earth man. if you call his office he will actually answer his own phone line or you'll get his message. no gatekeepers, red tape, etc. if you get him on the phone he will actually discuss any football related issue or concern that fans have. i couldn't possibly handle doing that myself - especially in a football fishbowl like green baythe man has a classy attitude and allows his football people to make the football decisions. he also earned a great deal of respect by tactfully coordinating the recent lambeau field renovations (which involved a brown county tax hike and a lot of public resistance)

basically bob harlan is a first class guy that is highly respected within the state of wisconsin (and i suspect by the other owners/football people as well)

I don't believe he is uber wealthy, but probably does alright given the cost of living in Green Bay. Harlan is more a business guy than a football guy, although he did make a great decision in hiring Ron Wolf in the early '90's. His son Kevin is a well-known play-by-play guy who does NFL and NBA games. It is true that Harlan often answers his own phone, or at least used to, and occaisionally returns voicemail messages left by the unwashed packerland masses. I have left messages on his voicemail in the past - drunken post-game ramblings many years ago - which, alas, went unreturned. John Jones is slated to replace Harlan after this season.
