Pack vs Lions (I'd say Kitties but they've surpassed that now) (1 Viewer)

After seeing the Saints score at will again, I think the right decision for the Lions is to do whatever it takes to beat Green Bay and avoid playing the Saints on the road in the first round.
:goodposting: Niners in SF would be tough too (if the Saints win, Niners lose this weekend). I think the Lions roll over the Giants or Cowboys. Not hard to see Kevin Smith sitting this week, but I think the rest of the guys are a play.

Can someone PLEASE bump this if/when Schwartz reveals his plans about playing time?I have Stafford (and Shaun Hill) on my roster preparing for a week 17 championship game. What a headache. :wall:
I'm in a similar boat. Rodgers, Flynn, Calvin and Kevin Smith are key guys on my roster
I don't understand why anyone would play in a league with a championship game in week 17. :yucky:
Because it’s a great league with a great group of friends. Been doing it this way for 16 years now with 11 of the 12 original owners still in the league. The “new guy” has been in the league for 13 years.Plus a week 16 title game has never passed a league vote
Pretty much my exact story. I get voted down 11-1 every year. I just don't get it.
Our league plays a two week championship game, which combats the week 17 headaches a little bit.

I don't think the Lions would roll the Giants. Take a dome team outside in a place like New York and it wouldn't be easy..That would be a good one..

As others have said, I do see Rodgers and Co. playing at least a half. They have everything locked up, but they do not want to go into the playoffs rusty. They have next week OFF, so that would be two full weeks before playing again. I don't agree with the Packers being ok with losing. They won't, especially at home. But I think they will balance winning with keeping players healthy and play them maybe a half. If there was a chance they could knock the Lions out of the playoffs, I think they might try a little harder, but that isn't the case.

The Lions, however, will play to win, no matter who they are up against. Barring injury or a blowout, I don't see Stafford and Co. sitting at all.

I cannot wait to bump this thread next weekend. I'll either be gloating or eating serious crow. I don't see either team playing starters in the second half. I don't think they make it out of the first quarter.

Remember, these teams might see each other again. Why would they show them anything? This isn't Giants/Patriots, where a struggling team adopts a David/Goliath motivator that actually helped them later in the playoffs. Neither has anything to play for (no, not even Detroit). No way do they play starters in a meaningless game. A manufactured bye is much more valuable to Detroit.

But like I said, I'll be happy to eat crow if I'm wrong. I'll be shocked if any significant starters are playing in the third quarter.
I couldn't wait any longer, so I bumped it for you.

Given the ugly weather conditions, I'm really hoping our key guys sit this one out. Let the Lions expose their key starters on a cold, wet field..

How bad is it? Is it really windy? Is it bad enough that you would bench James Jones for another marginal WR (#2 on his team) playing in a dome?

Depends on who your other WR is. Rodgers is out, so backup QB in poor conditions. I'd consider it..

I don't see why this won't be treated like a preseason game. Give the starters some reps in the 1st quarter, maybe the 2nd quarter, but that is it. GB has zero reason to have a starter injured, and Detroit has a little incentive to not have to play NO next week. But I think Det can win if their starters play a half and GB's don't play at all.
:coffee:

Side note : Anyone looking for some insight into who the Lions will play and how long, don't tune in to WDFN. They're talking baseball right now

Without question. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.
I say otherwise. The Saints have the worst defense, which plays into the Lions' strengths. Giants and Cowboys have both played inspired D at times. All three teams are beatable if the Lions are firing on all cylinders. The main goal is not to hide from the Saints. It's to give guys rest who need it and keep everyone healthy for the team's first playoff game in forever. The Lions will be resting starters for much of this game imo.

According to the Weather Channel, there's a Wind advisory for the Green Bay area through tonight.

Gusts up to 45 mph can be expected.
