**Packers 11-4 at Vikings 13-2**(-1, 49) 4:25 (1 Viewer)

I think this one actually lives up to the game of the week hype.

I do think there is a little more defense than maybe expected. I do think Green Bay will NOT sell out to stop Jefferson, so he likely makes some noise, but I'm not sure anyone else really pops.

For Green Bay, I think Josh Jacobs hits some big runs. Vikings run D is solid, but GB is in a run blocking rhythm, and Jacobs has been on fire of late.

Ultimately to me, it comes down to who needs it more, and I think the answer is Minnesota.

Vikings-24
Packers-21

I'm hearing stuff about Alexander not playing or setting up excuses for why he will get burned by Jefferson if he does play.

Zero should be back to help vs the run.

No weather excuses
Unless the dome gets too hot for The Lambeau guys
Should be a knock down drag out Pier Six brawl(google it kids)
I think it's important for Green Bay to get off to a good start and not play from behind all day
Jacobs en fuego
Do the Vikes give him extra attention?
Looking for a fun game to watch
And I'll say The Legend of Sam grows and he leads a late game drive for the win...

Minnesota Vikings- 27
Green Bay Packers- 23

Also, after studying the "rules" around flexing games, it appears that the NFL could have moved this to Monday night but didn't. Lions-49ers won't be terrible (I hope) but should have been swapped for this battle.

Out of GTD $$ after this year, Jaire has probably played his last down as a Packer. He'll have missed 21 games since he got his bag in 2022 if he doesn't suit up next week. They made him the highest paid CB in the league after he missed the last 13 g of 2021.

He's CB3 in the pay hierarchy this year. $18.1 dead money & $7.3 cap savings if it's pre-June 1, $7.9M / $17.5M post-June 1.

  • Combined opponents record of the 4 Packers losses this year (PHI, MIN, DET x2): 51-9 .850
  • Combined opponents record of the 11 Packers wins this year (IND, MIA, NO, AFC South, NFC West): 70-100 .412
Put another way, they are 3-4 vs teams with a winning record, with wins over three 9 win teams. They are 8-0 vs teams with a losing record. Over the last 11 games, they've gone 9-0 when not playing the Detroit Lions. Overall, they are 5-3 in one-possession games, and 0-4 against teams with 10 or more wins.

The Green Bay defense has been much improved in DC Jeff Hafley's 1st season. 3rd in takeaways, 6th in both points allowed and yards allowed prior to Week 18 - all high water marks in the 6 years Matt LaFleur has been there. Last season the D ranked 23rd, 10th and 17th in those categories under Joe Barry.

Darnold is a great storyline but my favorite thing about this matchup is how the veteran RBs going elsewhere revitalized both teams.

Another stellar year for Aaron Jones, who is underrated IMO. The contempt for Jacobs in the fantasy community circa 2018-2023 always mystified me.

Jones last 7 years: RB1 3x, RB2 3x, RB3 1x (injured.)
Jacobs last 6 years: RB 3x, RB2 2x, RB3 1x (injury).

Game of the week, by a good margin. 3 of the 4 best teams in the NFC are in the North; if the 2v7 WC ends up being PHI-WAS, I think all 3 of them could be in the Divisional Round. Best division in the league IMO.

Vikings have won 8 straight since dropping two just four days apart after their bye week. Flores is a phenomenal DC & KOC should win Coach of the Year - I think most thought this was a 7-8 win team preseason.

Minnesota keeps it rolling to setup Game 272 for the North and the #1 seed.

Green Bay is better than at least half of the teams that will be hosting a playoff game in two weeks. But they have been coming up short in the biggest games & that continues today.

IMO

Rules say that at least 1 game for each NFC divisional rival has to air on Fox each year. The first game was on CBS, thus this game has to be on Fox, therfore can't be moved to prime time.

Ahhhh, I see. Wasn't a flex thing at all just other contract stipulations.

Alexander was declared out yesterday. I agree with @BobbyLayne theres a very good chance he won't play again as a Packer. Walker and Williams are also out and it seems highly unlikely Watson will play today.

I'm surprised the Vikings are only 1-2 point favorites. The score from the game in Lambeau is misleading. The Vikings lead that game 28-0 in the first half and coasted from there. If this were college football people would be asking how many "quality wins" the Packers have and the answer is not any. The last two weeks they've feasted on bad teams playing with backup quarterbacks. Other than that their best win was beating the Texans on a last second FG at Lambeau. My hope is that first game got stuck in LaFleurs head and he's going to pull out something special today. Love seems fully fit and Jacobs is on a tear so there is some hope the visitors can outscore the Vikes and escape with a win.

Nothing special happening by the Vikings but decent field position set up by their Defense and just a few decent plays on offense and they are in FG range already
Nice throw into the end zone to Addison, shoulda been a catch for a TD

BTW: 2nd and 3 on their opponents 40 yd line and the Vikings dial up a bomb into the end zone that just missed

Solid "A' on the play call even if the execution was just a bit off, liked the play call and the aggressiveness by the coaching staff to allow Darnold an opportunity on that play

Yeah. Bullard left the middle open going to Addison who already had a DB covering him over the top and underneath.

So THATS NOT A LOW BLOCK?!??
It was. But is legal vs illegal depending in at the line vs downfield? Honestly I don’t know
One was a bad call the other took a starter out of the game.

I don’t think k the location matters.
Googling seems to show multiple different results. 5 yards downfield is illegal. Inside the “te box” is allowed

Also, gift on that PI
Hanging on his bicep?

With the ball several yards over his head?

Dude, it's week 17. All year, officials have imagined the players being eight feet tall and able to jump thirty feet in the air. Easy PI.
