Packers Bye Week (1 Viewer)

Hoping to see Harris and Bigby healed up and ready to go. Hoping to see Hawk improved and Harrel finally available. Hoping Picket gets healthier. Love to see Jones and Rodgers heal. If Cliftons back can come around along with the rest of the line healing up that would be sweet.

Where there any injuries or aggravations this week?

Agreed...nice timing for it.

Pickett played well today despite the injury...but this should help.

I think Harrell could have gone had Pickett not been able to this week.

Would be nice to see Bigby back in action. Rouse has been ok...but not quite the same as Atari out there.

Team has done a good job getting through the injuries so far and this goes to show this team was built right. Couple of years ago these injuries would have certainly ended any chance of this team not getting into the playoffs.

Built right? How about having two rookie QBs behind Rodgers? :goodposting:

The whole NFC north needed this. The Packers as you mentioned.

The Bears have an entire secondary of walking wounded.

The Vikings need the time to figure a few things out and heal up some players.

And at least the Lions know they won't get another loss next week.

Given the extent of their injuries I am pleased pleased with the start. They hung together. I believe we will see a better packer team coming off the break. In their adversity they revealed some character. Now we will see that characgter and their talent. I am hopeful at this point where a little over two weeks ago I could not say I was.

Yeah, they should have gotten Brad Johnson. Once training camp ends there are no rookies in my mind.

Right, because as you know most NFL teams are sitting pretty with 2-3 starting calibur QBs wasting away on their bench. I'm sure Cowboys' fans are thumbing their noses at Packers' fans right now thanking their lucky stars that they have that gritty old veteran Brad Johnson.

So that is the only position on the field? You can maybe argue they had more of a chance in Tampa had they had a backup with some experience...though, not even close to a sure thing.Other than that...yes...built right. No game, other than maybe the Tampa one and I question that, was lost because of not having a backup QB with experience.

Hopefully...and they have a nice test coming up down here in Tennessee.

 The Lions will beat the Skins next week? It is in Detroit, but still...

And this children is a classic example of irony.

Please fill me in on the Hawk injury. Did he leave the field without assistance? Did he remain on the sideline or go into the training room for treatment?

Not sure he was injured. The Colts split out Clark on a lot of plays, and Chlllar covered him in the slot. Blackmon went 1 on 1 with Harrison, and Woodson took Wayne. Tramon spent most of his time covering Gonzalez. Tons of 4-2-5 for the Packers today.

Tramont Williams filling in for Al Harris, Safeties being interchanged and still playing well, depth at WR show this team is built right. Both lines need to show more, but the O-line should get better as they play more together. Remeber Wells was not around much for training camp and guys got moved around to fit in.When Pack trades a young QB for a high draft pick in a couple of years nay sayers will be talking what a great move it was to draft two solid QBs in this draft.

Finally read the post game press conference transcript. Looks like the only injury was a stinger to Thompson. Finally some apparent relief on this front.

The bye week is really coming at a good time this year, with all the nagging injuries. Guys I'll be particularly watching coming out of the bye week include Harrell, Sitton and Jeremy Thompson.

The truly amazing thing about the team Thompson has built is that they are not only very young, but at the same time have impressive depth. It it really impressive that they can still be very competitive given the key injuries on defense. I expect beginning next month we'll begin to read about the younger guys getting locked into long-term, cap friendly deals as Thompson starts using that $20MM.

Still bitter, eh? Get over it. He ain't coming back...although he might make a few phone calls...

OOPS! I thought the NFC North was all on bye next week! I guess you can tell I don't own any Lions! :)

Looks like the packers will be fully reloaded. Recent articles have Bigby and harris both coming back. That is quite an infusion to the third line of defense. Hawk is healing which should help the mid-line deense, and Picket and Thompson both look to be beter, though Picket will likely not totaly shake his this year. With all three levels of the defense improved I am feeling much better about the Packers chances this year. I think their defense just improved about 5 points a week,

On offense Rodgers should be improved, also Grant can finally get fully healed and Clifton and Wells can hopefully get stabile. That coupled with the potential return of their number 3 receiver and I see the Packers as being able to add about 3 points a week to their offensive production.

Now if they can just avoid geting beaten up by Tennessee in 10 days I will be liking their chances. If they also happen to win that game while staying healthy I see them as being competitive with anybody in the league.

I feel as if the storm clouds have lifted.

Does look to be getting better...and if Harrell can add anything to help spell Pickett, Jolly and Cole...it would be nice.Looking forward to the game down here. Taking my 4 year old to his first NFL game...letting him chose though if he will cheer for the Packers or the Titans. He is leaning towards the Packers...his mother will be for the Titans. He keeps saying he is going to cheer for Brett Favre. He does not yet understand that Favre does not play for them...though, he is starting to catch on and says he plays for the Jets. Depending on how well he does at this game, I may take him to the Jets game in a few weeks too.

Hawk was indeed not injured, and doesn't sound too pleased about taking a seat for Chillar.http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/articl...9049/1058/PKR01

Pack homers - what are your thoughts on James Jones? The knee injury has been frustrating, but hopefully the week off wlil allow him to get back close to 100%. Do you see him picking up where he left off last year, or has Nelson done enough to continue getting playing time in front of JJ?

Jones should be back after the bye - but I think Nelson has done more than fill in. I would bet they split time for the rest of the year, thus diminishing any FF value Jones may have had.

In 3 WR sets yes...though, both should be used in any 4 WR sets and Ruvell seems to lose this one.Nelson has been big for them...not huge numbers...but big catches, many for first downs.

Not injured in this game, but Hawk was getting beat consistently in coverage the week before, and the coaching staff stated it was related to the groin. As such, I have no problem with them keeping his reps down in this game.I understand Hawk's complaint, but big picture he'll be better off. He needed some time off.

Might've been different if Chillar or the defense were getting beat, but its hard to argue with what Sanders did on Sunday given the results.

Agreed - and he's seemingly gotten better as the year has gone on.There are plenty of opportunities for all 5 WRs in this offense. Did you notice the heavy, two TE formation where Martin is the only WR on the field? They ran it once against Seattle and then three times against the Colts, throwing out of it once for D Lee's touchdown. Point being - there are all sorts of personnel packages for the WRs - just think, FF-wise, Jennings and Driver are the only ones worth a roster spot, unless you are desperate.

I think they ran it more than 3 times.Though, I did not like it most of the time til I really thought about it.It sets up other things...and maybe the hope is Grant breaks through that first wave and can get the big run. But it went for 3 yards at most each run...just brought everyone into the middle where the run is going. It was ok because they were efficient in the other downs and controlled the clock for most of that game.
