Jake is throwing a nerf ball 10 yards. Matt Moore showed satisfactory skills last year.

-Are you hoping that Carolina drafts a QB?

-Were you hoping they would try to nab Derek Anderson?

-Are you content with Jake as your slinger?

-Do you think they should just add depth like a Quinn Gray?

Not a fan here, but a local. If (and that's a big IF) Jake is healthy, he is pretty productive. I really liked what I saw in Matt Moore. He is a gamer for sure. I would not draft a QB personally. I would go after some O-line help or maybe try to find a DE that plays with a little more fire than what Peppers showed last year. I think they should bring in a decent veteran backup to allow Moore some time to develop. Gray would be an ok fit. But I really liked what I saw from Moore. HTH

FBG clean-up in aisle 4...

Bass n' Brew knows the Panthers and is here all the time.

Wadsworth is good people with Jaguar information.

Jake Delhomme is a team leader and seems to be getting the benefit of the doubt from the organization. However, one must wonder if the Panthers would be better off cutting the cord on Delhomme and moving forward with another QB. Since the Jaguars have been mentioned - it worked for them cutting Leftwich in favor of Garrard. Maybe the right call is for the Panthers to find a reliable veteran signalcalling who is slightly younger than Vinny Testaverde.

Matt Moore does seem like a gamer but he isn't ready for primetime quite yet. Give him another year or two to learn the ropes and he could be a nice starter in the Garrard or Matt Schaub mold. I think they should take a chance on Trent Green...if Delhomme comes up lame he could be a very nice fit. I'm not saying he's the solution but he is worth a look imo.

I am a fan of Jake D. He took them to a SB fits the mold of Romo and Favre and is underrated as a QB. IF healthy I would be very happy with him as my QB. Moore showed some good things in his brief stint. By removing Carr and Teste I think the QB situation is 10x better then it was.

Reports indicate they like Brett Basanez as well and if healthy he and Moore make very capable backups and could be the future there. I dont think they need to draft anyone since Brett and Matt are young enough to groom.

IF Delhomme is not ready, they may need to bring someone in to compete just in case. But indications are that Jake will be ready to roll. With Mushin and Smith they are in good position to rebound in that Offense.

I agree with all of the above. Plus I think Fox knows he must do well this coming year so he would have to know Delhomme would be ready or not. That said I wouldn't die if we picked a QB in a 3rd or 4th round if he was good value. As far as Panther fans on here, there are a few threads just for Panther info on the forum so yeah we are here.

Jake D is going to be underrated this year and a very solid QB2 in most redrafts. He has a lot of upside.

I've said in many places I'm a fan of Matt Moore as well.

If Delhomme is healthy, he is better than fine. There is a notion out there that he is washed up, and as long as he does not have lingering effects from his injury, he will could be a very nice sleeper this year (think Brees two years ago). In 2006, he had a rough year which started the speculation, but last year in three games he had 8 TDs to 1 Int, and a QB rating of 111. After he was gone they fell apart, which goes to show how inportant he is to that team. They may draft another QB as he will be 33 going into the season, but for the next two years, I cannot think of a FA QB that would come in (in the short-term over those two years) and put up better numbers than he. He will have his two WRs (Smith and Moose) with whom he did his most damage with.

We all know another QB will be coming into town next year. I would rather see them bring in a rookie, as I am not sure Moore is the answer, yet with a year under his belt, he could hold fort for some time, while the rookie gamis his confidence. Guys like Henne and the big kid from Delaware did well at the combine (projected 2nd and 3rd round picks prior to the combine), while Brohm and Ryan may find themselves slipping. I think there is a possibility one of those four could slip to Carolina in Round Three (with the Jets pick)...mostly likely being Henne.

Local here as well. Delhomme is a decent QB, someone who, in my opinion, holds down the fort until a true franchise QB comes along. With that said, I don't think the need is pressing just yet. Let Moore develop some this preseason and next, let Delhomme continue to run the show. I agree with Eric that they need to address other needs before they rush in to drafting a QB in the early rounds.

I am a Panthers fan. I have no doubt that Jake can still play provided that he is and will stay healthy. The best way to hedge that bet is to beef up the line in this tackle rich draft and hopefully be able to move Travelle inside to guard. I hope to Wesley Walls that Carolina makes a strong play for Michael Turner who I see as a great fit not only in their blocking scheme but also as a complement to Deangelo. If no Turner I'd like to see Mendenhall or Stewart there but with Turner in the fold I would take Calais Campbell who I think will turn out to be better than advertised. I think Peppers needs to be put on notice and looks like he's sitting on his rep. Concerning Delhomme John Fox needs to take a page out of the book of his former DC Jack Del Rio and start bustin' peeps in the mouf in the running game and playing aggressive defense. I think most of the people on these boards would remember that when Jake was at his best the Panthers were running Stephen Davis' knees off forcing defenses to think run and that's when Steve Smith would come in. I'm not sure Jake was ever the guy who's just gonna methodically drive down the field without the cover of not just a solid running game but one with an imposing will like what they had in their SB year.
