Parcells "Very Disappointed" in Chad Henne (1 Viewer)

Meh, I thought Henne looked fine in the pre-season. Watching the team play, the one thing that really concerned me was the WR drops. They must have dropped at least a dozen of Henne's passes.

I wanted to post the other day when Parcells stepped down but IMO he has left a pretty big mess behind and we will start seeing it unravel this season. He made a great pick with Jake Long, and if Chad Henne worked or works out then many people will say that was one of the best drafts and he was a great front office guy...but let's not forget some of his other picks like DE Merling that has been a bust, Pat White in the 2nd round, and the verdict is out on Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, and this year's class of Jared Odrick and Koa Misi...all of these guys have just been handed starting jobs and never really had to earn them.

We'll see what happens but I found the timing odd and I don't believe in Jeff Ireland too much especially after asking Dez Bryant if his mother was a prositute when Miami was never going to draft Bryant no matter what.

He asked him if his mother worked for his dad who was already known to be a pimp. She could have been doing the books for him? :goodposting:

This article seems odd and unprofessional. I don't understand why the Miami guy feels compelled to throw Henne under the bus the week before the season starts. Parcells wasn't in favor of starting Romo when they first did either. Whole thing reads odd to me, we won't have to wait long to see if Henne has taken a step forward.

Some of his early round picks in Dallas ended up being duds too. 2004

2nd - Julius Jones - Traded away 1st rounder to STL, they took Steven Jackson. Great rookie year, completely average all other years

2nd - Jacob Rogers - Always hurt

2005

1st - DeMarcus Ware - Obvious slam dunk, however there are reports he was enamored with Spears and wanted him here but was overridden.

1st - Marcus Spears - This was STL's pick for the JJ trade. Don't really have many bad things to say about him, but he's not worth a 1st rounder.

2nd - Kevin Burnett - Another guy that was solid but always injured. His best year came on his contract year and he bounced.

2006

1st - Bobby Carpenter - I was all about this pick at the time, but he didn't even really play until last year, and even then only situationally.

2nd - Anthony Fasano - He loved this pick so much he traded for him when he got to Miami. He's a bum.

I believe those were his only drafts. He may have been here for 2003 which was Newman in the 1st, Al Johnson in the 2nd (bust), and Witten in the 3rd, James in the 4th.

Where he did so well though was later on in the drafts..

Patrick Crayton (7th)

Jay Ratliff (7th)

Tony Romo (UDFA)

Miles Austin (UDFA)

Sam Hurd (UDFA)

Jacques Reeves (7th)

Marion Barber (4th)

Chris Canty (4th)

Stephen Bowen? (Not sure on him, believe he's UDFA)

I'm probably forgetting some but you get the idea. Has he had similar success late in Miami?

Lots of Dolfans are "very disappointed" in the Bug Tuna. He gave us Pat White, Patrick Turner, Phillip Merling, Ernest Wilford, $29 million oft-injured Jake Grove and Gibril Wilson, among others. The early second round pick on the baseball player is the one that hurts the most. White would've been there 1-3 rounds later. When receivers haven't dropped the ball Henne hasn't looked bad this pre-season.

Wilson was cut, Jake Grove released today too.

Parcells wasnt exactly fond of Simms in NY at the start. As mentioned above same with Romo. So I really dont trust his assesment of Henne. I mean Henne had a good end of last year. He played below average in the pre season. Well so did Kevin Kolb and many other guys. You got to give him time. It took 3-4 years for guys like Drew Brees and Eli Manning to get it, Ryan and Flacco were terrible in there second years . it takes time. Henne seems talented , hopefully they give him the support and time needed. if he dosent take the next step in 1-2 years then you go in another direction.

Shouldn't have drafted him, then. He was pretty awful at Michigan for the most part. He's always had the strong arm, but accuracy doesn't generally go from bad to great.

This could be something or it might be nothing. As damageinc pointed out, Parcells was brutal to Simms throughout his career, called Terry Glenn 'she' and frequently clashed with Bledsoe among many other examples. It's his way of motivating players it seems. What would be fascinating is to see how things were handled by other old school coaches if they had to operate in an environment where every comment or action became an over publicized and overanalyzed news bite.

Yep.Parcells has always spoken in a different tongue to where you almost need a translater to depict was he is really saying.

I agree with your post but Flacco was very good last year.
