Patriots RBs (1 Viewer)

Who is going to be the main RUNNING back for the Pats week 1 now?

Lewis/White seem like 3rd down guys

Gray was released, right?

Bolden now????

Bolden will start splitting reps with White, Lewis will be the third down back.

Not worth starting any of them week 1. Blount should be startable Week 2.

I mostly agree with Run It Up, except I don't see White in the mix that much. Bolden starts and only gets 8-10 carries, Lewis plays the receiving back role, and White might sub in if either one needs a blow. I think the Pats pass a ton and Brady has a big game at home after the trauma of Deflategate (like 400/4). Gronk with a big night; Edelman, Amendola, Chandler, and Lewis with decent numbers. Dobson might even do something.

From what I've seen, White just isn't any good. He looks small and lost.

Bolden is a depth RB for the Pats, making the team because he's a good special team guy.

Lewis fell off my radar when he broke his leg with the Browns (2013). Before the injury, he looked very good in the Browns preseason. He's a great end of the bench add going into week 1.

Dont be surprised if Dobson goes off. All but the dark lord have written him off. He was down by contact when Tillman stripped that ball despite the preseason call.

Agree with the Dobson sentiment. I watched that entire game and Dobson looked pretty good IMO. There's a gaping opportunity in their wide receiver corps. Dobson was a fairly high pick that was flashing as a rookie with Brady... Then he got hurt. Then he spent his entire sophomore season hurt, essentially. Amendola and Edelman are different types of receivers than what Dobson can provide, and Gronk can't do it all. Is Edelman even fully healthy? Dobson could post 4-5 catches for 60-70 yards and a TD on Thursday night and be a waiver wire darling of week 1.

ETA -- Rotoworld was clearly burned by Dobson in the past a continues to hate on the guy. Every update they post about him is filled with the obvious bias.

As for the RBs, I expect Lewis to have a bit of a coming out party on Thursday in the Vereen role. Bolden likely handles the short yardage carries and some early down work. I doubt we see much of White.

Full disclosure, I've been on the Lewis bandwagon since week 2 of the preseason, so I may be slightly biased.

I haven't seen White play but I agree with the rest of your post. Doesn't this team seem particularly thin at RB? We know what Blount is... Maybe they feel they have something in Lewis/Cadet?

I thought about adding Lewis (PPR) but have relatively shallow rosters and no room (not to mention the week to week unpredictability)

Whatever happened to Cadet? I thought he'd be a good 3rd down, pass-catching RB when they signed him, but we've barely heard a word about him.

I thought Cadet to be the most versatile (rushing/receiving) of their remaining backs. As long as he is healthy (?), lack of preseason exposure is not necessarily bad.

Anyone surprised to see Blount still playing late in the last preseason game? Usually its the bubble guys in at that time.

Thought White looked good but you just cant count on any NE rbs for ff.

I am still amazed that people can't figure out the Patriots RB usage. They have been one of the easiest teams to evaluate over the years. What is more challenging is deciphering their weekly game plans because there will be weeks they won't run the ball, and they may bail on the run in the second half when they get behind.

It still doesn't change the roles of their backs. It hasn't been such a big mystery to figure it out.

they are both starters and will be for the rest of year ... matchup will dictate who has the higher potential that week
