the animals don't really care. why should i?
How do you know they don't care?  Have you ever spoken with a bird about whether it wants to share a scone, or even what kinds of scones it likes?  I bet if you spoke with a seagull, it definitely wouldn't want to share.

i dont really say any of those things so i dont have an opinion but know this peta and know this well if you ever try to change the saying take that to the bank there will be swc coming for you and he will brining hell with him take that to the you know where brochachos

A small subset of readers took issue with the fact that “scone,” as pronounced in Yorkshire, does not technically rhyme with “stone.” And anyway, wouldn’t scones be unhealthy for birds to eat?

Assuming this is not a joke or publicity stunt, what's your take on this?
As someone that cares about animal rights, I think this is a disgrace.  It makes advocates look like hypersensitive kooks.  If I was a meat industry titan and wanted to discredit the animal rights movement, I'd probably build a group that looked something like PETA.

There is fine and actually courageous work being done in this sphere- by groups like Mercy for Animals and The Humane League- that deserve much better than to be trivialized by crap like this.

Bravo. This is ludicrous to the point where basic decency towards animals is undermined.

well given the option of either sharing a scone or being killed by a projectile rock (along with another fellow gull), I'm pretty sure we can assume which one he/she would choose.

PETA is either trolling to get dragged/ratio'd or they're tremendously stupid and lacking any self-awareness.

i think we're reaching peak stupidity in 2018.   i don't know maybe not.   I thought the movie Idiocracy was a parody  but now it looks like a roadmap

I dont care if chickens are hung from the rafters for the entire time they are bred for slaughter

Is that last one being repped by George Costanza?

Will witches need to find new ingredients for their brew?

Can you still whack a mole at the arcade?

My niece interned with PETA this past summer and she is now going to law school so she can work with their legal dept.  She is a vegan and is definitely in the bag for animal rights.  Interesting to talk with her as she has put in a lot more study into certain topics than I ever have or would but she still has some of the crazy going on in her.

Thanks for letting me share!

PETA murders thousands of cats and dogs annually but cares about language?  The people that follow PETA are even more clueless

Does something happen to the actual test tube when you're using it for testing?

Why would I feed a fed horse? Its already eaten, do they want it to get fat and suffer from effects of obesity?

These people are painfully stupid.
PETA has no idea how harmful overfeeding is.

www.thesprucepets.com

Overfeeding a horse can cause colic, bowl obstructions and can even lead to death

How are you supposed to have a meaningful conversation with someone if you're so worried about offending them, you don't say anything controversial?  That's part of why I think political correctness is dangerous and stupid.

See also the Cleveland radio station that banned the Christmas song, Baby, It's Cold Outside,  because someone complained it's rapey.

As someone who's brother is a banker this offends me and I'd really appreciate it if you changed your catchphrase to "take that to the beach".

My take on this is that PETA is trying to conflate this anti-specieism language to the efforts in the the LGBTQ community to handle non-binary pronouns.  Their attempts at being social justice warriors, while well-intentioned I am sure, just fall flat and appear so nonsensical that they are not going to convert anyone.  If anything they just make themselves to be more extreme than many already think they are.
