Planned Parenthood leaked video (1 Viewer)

So awesome. Nothing like convening a grand jury to investigate Planned Parenthood and then having them indict the fraud's who made the sting video.

Let's not get carried away, this is Harris county.
Not getting carried away - but I am loving the #### out of this. :banned:

ETA: Absolutely no idea what "this is Harris county" is supposed to imply.

I will echo some of the New york times comments. How do you get charged with buying if planned parenthood is cleared of selling?

Sounds like the "government record" is that they made fake drivers' licenses

Because you are TRYING. Doesn't matter what the other person is/isnt doing. You are responsible for your own actions. Its called intent.

There's overwhelming support for federal funding for Planned Parenthood, right?

But if I'm reading this article correctly, you would say that because they perform abortions, and you don't like abortions (even though they are legal), they should get no federal money? Who would pick up the slack for the rest of the services they provide?

They dont care about anything beyond their own sensibilities. And they want to force them upon you.

With this Texas case, the pro-lifers set up a fake company and offered PP of Gulf coast $1500 for organs. PP turned them down. Apparently, PP hadn't been offered that much before, and decided not to deal with these people.

Looking forward to reading the indictment. The charges filed suggest a sentence of 2-20 years, if found guilty.

I'm pro legal abortion, just don't think we should be compelled to pay for it. I also don't think we should be compelled to pay for your birth control.

You'd rather women - especially poor women - did not have access to reproductive health services?

they do. and its free or extremely cheap. search the web dude, this isn't hard to figure out.

you are presenting an either/or strawman argument, when in fact there are several options for low income women to get reproductive health services at little to no cost, besides Planned Parenthood..

And they don't use Fed Money for abortions... so why even more strawmen arguments based upon your "beliefs" instead of their health?

You have audits (federal even) and we know abortions only make up 3% of what they do, as a fact.

So move along.

This is pretty interesting stuff. I think what happens is that when someone goes into a state's Secretary of State office to create a new company they have to state a business purpose. It's pretty old fashioned and can be as simple as one line like, "snoball stand, selling snowballs" or something, but you likely attest/swear that what you've entered is true etc. That's probably what they got them on. In many ways this is a good law to prevent fraud, however I doubt it's almost ever been enforced. I've never heard of it. I will say this would be a great tool for campaign finance reform because the context I've heard this in is when campaign donors create shell companies so they can give multiple donations to candidates. That is very frequent. I wish the authorities would prosecute for that but they never do.

Also is this Houston or Austin? I thought it was Austin. Harris County is Houston.

I didn't realize the grand jury which indicted the kooks is the same one the kooks convened to investigate PP.

Makes the awesome so much better.

I assume you are talking about places like Obria Medical Clinics? Which offer "natural family planning" services?

41% of their revenue comes from the Feds, it would be impossible for them not to use the money for abortions, they provide 1/3rd of all the abortions in the united states.

I like how you throw numbers around and pretend they mean something in sentential logic, and then just don't bother looking up the actual budget reconciliation numbers that prove to the feds every year that they don't use a single federal penny for abortions. It's pretty slick.

Oh I think it's very possible.

For "them" its that their emotions on the subject outweigh any facts. The audits and such mean nothing when compared to their hurt feeling.

That's not specific to opponents of abortion and/or Planned Parenthood, that's virtually every side of every issue in these incredibly stupid political times.

He's entitled to his hurt feelings, however scientifically wrong-headed I find them to be.

However, he's not arguing his emotions, he's arguing numbers and logic. I'm not going to argue about anyone's feelings, but the numbers and logic are clear enough that we don't have to speculate.

Abortion's legal in the U.S. correct? So why does it matter if PP uses federal money for abortions? Who else gets to dictate how and when their taxes are spent?

If you read the actual things that article is "based" on, you'll probably realize that it's terrible writing, failed understanding of legal documents and the legal process, and an incomplete understanding not only of the Hyde Amendment, but also the sources of Medicaid funding.

Of course, for the publication whose current top headline is "Obama's Chief of Staff Admits They Want Tyranny", it's not the worst thing I've read by the Federalist.
