Players "brought in" by other teams...? (1 Viewer)

Along the lines of cheating...

Does anyone know if a particular player who has been cut from a team is brought in by another team (typically an impending opponent for the team that did the cutting) receives compensation of any kind?

I imagine only if the player is signed, but have wondered why would any player offer to help a team that they know won't be signing them?

To me, this issue has always been the most prominent, and allowed, forms of cheating in the NFL.

Maybe airfare and a dinner.

That's the key. It is an interview opportunity (so to speak) for that player. For example, Reche Caldwell may have thought the chances were not there that he would be signed by the Jets, but I am sure he wanted to take that opportunity to meet with the Jets' brass, just in case.

Sweet Love - gotcha.

However, players and agents have to know that the player is being used with no intent of being offered a contract. I wonder if there is specific information divulged by the player regarding any other team during the "interview" or they wait to grill the guy until after he has been signed. If its the former, I have a hard time being convinced that it is not cheating.
