Players that FBGs was high on preseason... (1 Viewer)

So many things are whack in this initial post. Just a few:

Ben Watson- disappointing start to the season, but could end up putting up some big numbers. It doesn't really look like Brady is going to stop using all of his weapons and hone in on Watson as some were prognosticating.
Watson is a beast on a team without a lot of receiver talent. Should FBG just hype every popular TE that every other publication hypes? Not much of a stretch to claim that Todd Heap could go off this year. FBG makes it name by trying to inform the readers about young, emerging talent.
And Matt Jones sort of sucks.
Wow. Just a misinformed take. Jones is a giant with amazing speed. Sure, he's still learning the position. But Jones is a freak.
Vick- nice call. who would have thought he would be looking like VY did in college? That type of QB in that scheme is pretty damn unstoppable. Good foresight
I've bashed Vick for years as one of the most overrated fantasy players in the league. Until this year, Vick has been a tease. So since you thought Vick was going to be a fantasy stud this year, I assume you can point to the post where you stated that Vick was going to rock?

OK Smart guy...1) Ben Watson has been a disappointment thus far plain and simple. He has had one pass thrown to him in the end zone and he dropped it. He couldn't even manage 50 yards versus the NYJets defense. 2) Misinformed take on Matt Jones? As a University of Texas donor and season ticket holder, I had the displeasure of watching this freakish athlete beat us at home then almost beat us in Fayattenam in our home and home in 2003 and 2004.. had ne not fumbled on the 2 yard line. Yes. He's tall. Yes, he's sub-4.4. He's a freak, always has been and I'm not denying that.So is David Boston.Get real. We're talking fantasy football here, not genetics.3) This is when I knew I was dealing with someone "special"...when I read your retort to the Vick portion.the point of the original post was to talk about who footballguys staffers and tools (ie DD, etc) were high on preseason. The Dominator had me take Vick in the 5th round with QBs who I would think of as better value, but i trusted it. I never made any mention of Vick preseason, merely saying that the staffers had good foresight in predicting such high value in a player that has been a perrenial bust.

I agree that Watson hasn't impressed so far. But it's not as if he's a bust after only two games.

Well said. However, Boston has a real attitude problem. Whereas Jones is working extra hard to be a better palyer.

My bad. I thought you were being sarcastic :)

This is the sort of thread that doesn't have much meaning unless your talking about a specific staff member's rankings. For instance, Mark Wimer deserves tons of credit for promoting Antonio Bryant. Luckily I was swayed and have Bryant on almost all of my rosters. I think I nailed Brooks (had him at QB25). On the flip side I really missed on Carnell Williams. Luckily I only drafted in the 5-8 slots in one draft.
Gates was the consensus #1 TE in pre-season. Based on his targets and production so far, he hasn't got a prayer to attain that ranking. How everyone missed such an obvious decline for him this season due to the change at QB still confounds me.
TE numbers after week 2:
Code:

Hasn't got a prayer? He's 8.1 points behind and he hasn't got a prayer? Isn't that a bit of an over-reaction?

There's only 14 weeks left. What, is he just going to start scoring points in his sleep?

Should have stated I was referring to PPR formats, where he's much worse off than your scoring system shown.

This is why I don't pray.
