Because most folks drafted him as their RB1 with the expectation that he'd be getting the lion's share of work in all situations. Splitting carries down the middle and not getting goal line love is reason for worry.Choice was getting goal line carries when Fred went down last year and he is on pace for 250 carries this year. So again, why so worried?Yes, after Fred went down for the season.Wasn't that what happened last year and he still finished top 10?I think there's reason for concern. The coaching staff said they were going to run Spiller until he pukes, yet he's splitting touches with Fred and seemingly not getting the touches inside the 5.Everyone still worried about Spiller? He just had 100 yards rushing against a team that shut down the running game of Seattle last week.
They are confusing speed for talent.according to some people posting in the David Wilson thread, he has "elite" talent.Yeah, the big concern with Wilson is the potential fact that he just isn't a very good NFL RB.I'd be worried about Wilson in general, but not because of Jacobs. Jacobs has 4 carries for 2 yards so far -- not exactly a threat to Wilson's job.David Wilson with Jacobs getting a lot of carries
But he already proved that with around 15 carries a week he can produce as a number 1 back. I agree that with 20 + carries everyone thought holy crap I wonder what he can do, but just because this coaching staff isn't delivering those carries he still should be viewed as a number 1 back. This game against a good Carolina front 7 should reassure people, not scare them.Because most folks drafted him as their RB1 with the expectation that he'd be getting the lion's share of work in all situations. This is the problem---his fantasy numbers might look decent--but his actual football performances have been questionable (and understandably so). I think the main worry is that if he has another poor game--the skins might go to cousins and allow rg3 more recovery time. Certainly a situation to monitor.Ilov80s said:Those are top 10 QB numbers, actually above what he averaged last year. I have him in one out of 10 leagues, as a backup to Manning in a 6 TD league because he went really late in an auction draft.bizeast said:RG3 - not looking good so far. 27.10 this week in that league.
Pretty standard scoring.
Drew Brees will be alright. Tampa defense is better than people think.Drew Brees. Should have taken Rodgers or Peyton...it was a close call, but went with Drew because of Sean Payton coming back.
It's not the yardage/what he did with his touches, it's the extent to which F-Jax is still involved in this offense (it's basically a 50/50 split after preseason suggested Spiller would be a true feature back) and Spiller isn't yet getting GL carries. I know he doesn't need a ton of touches to be effective and he showed that last year, but last year you didn't spend a top 5 pick on him. Those of us who own him expected him to help carry our teams to some extent, but now I'm just thinking I should have drafted McCoy instead. It's not that I'm unhappy with his output today - but with the way they are using F-Jax, his upside is limited and you're sweating on a huge play every week because he's not going to get the volume of carries and TD opportunities to have a reliable elite floor. Why are people worrried about spiller after today? The panthers have a super legit defense and he went for over 100 yards. If I owned spiller--I'd be feeling good about him right now.

yeah--mccoy is producing--but look at who spiller is looking better than right now. I can't think of 5-7 rbs that i'd want ahead of spiller even with the way he started the season and even with fjax getting the goal line carries. As of this moment-- probably most of the 1st rounders haven't lived up to their values--t-rich, rice, marshawn..etc. I truly can think of tons of other players that I'd be worried about over spiller--- sjax, rice, ridley, david wilson, amendola, lacy, reggie bush, rg3, ryan matthews, mjd, roddy white, and maybe even fitz..etc.It's not the yardage/what he did with his touches, it's the extent to which F-Jax is still involved in this offense (it's basically a 50/50 split after preseason suggested Spiller would be a true feature back) and Spiller isn't yet getting GL carries. Yeah, even though I own Bell, I'd like to see a healthy Reggie Bush, so it doesn't wind up being Bell and LeShoure.Spiller

R. Bush Injury?
hes producing nice fantasy numbers--but he doesnt look good on the field and his team is 0-2. If he doesn't look good on the field in week 3 and his team loses to the lions--and are 0-3--there is a chance that cousins starts until rg3 looks fully healthy. thats the concern. Not understanding the RG3 panic in this thread. After not playing all preseason and off a devastating injury, his first 2 games have been very productive. My league counts garbage time the same. If this is his worst, things look great going forward, and it's not like you used a high pick on him.
That is what i am hoping for.EBF said:Would think Trent's numbers will get a little better in coming weeks. The return of Gordon will add a new dimension to Cleveland's offense.
That's not happening. RG3's starting status is safe as long as he doesn't get injured.hes producing nice fantasy numbers--but he doesnt look good on the field and his team is 0-2. There's no chance Cousins starts unless RG3 is ruled out. Don't over think this. Carolina has done a pretty bad job of giving Cam weapons. Olsen was helpful, but their WR group is still lackluster.I'd say it's more Panthers offense than Cam....but Cam obviously gets swept into it.
the O-line was getting bull-rushed all day by Mario Williams and company. Newton really didn't have a solid pocket. Meanwhile, Newton overthrew 4-5 long ones; but hit one too. He showed plenty of good flashes w/Olson&SSMith as usual, and also showed toughness in the run game converting some 3rd and shorts. The chemistry with the secondary receivers seems way off despite the Ginn score. The run game is also inconsistent. All being said, it was nice to see Shula open up the playbook and throw vertical this week as he said he would. If Carolina would have won this game, there'd be more optimism about Newton (even in fantasy). Instead, this week will be a high-pressure, do-or-die panic with the CLT press.

Part of the problem is that they've whiffed hard when using early picks at the position (Jarrett, LaFell, Edwards).
It would be nice if they would make a commitment in the offseason and spend a couple top 100 picks to give their passing game a boost.
They need to let cam do what cam does best, which is take off and run with the ball more often when he's not seeing anything open downfield. It seems like they are trying to make him more of a pocket passer and not only is it killing his fantasy value but it's killing the panthers and wasting great efforets by their defense. It's a shame that the offense cant put up pts bc if they could with that defense they'd be a playoff contender.Carolina has done a pretty bad job of giving Cam weapons. Sure....if you wanted to make case for Rivera's dismissal it would be the last two drives today. Winning teams, with supposed top 5-10 quarterbacks, are more aggressive in that spot. Rivera played it like the Panthers are the 1988 Cowboys and it led directly to a loss. They need to let cam do what cam does best, which is take off and run with the ball more often when he's not seeing anything open downfield. Speaking of kickers, Justin Tucker showed some serious cracks today. He doesn't miss those two last year.Randy Bullock . He should be working at Jamba Juice by Friday.
The issue with Cam is primarily his OC. Mike Shula could #### up a girl's birthday party even if he brought a unicorn ####ting skittles.I'd say it's more Panthers offense than Cam....but Cam obviously gets swept into it.

Fair point about the floor not being reliable, but as a spiller owner in two leagues, I'm not expecting him to be a bell cow. Despite what has been said, he strikes me as a guy who takes advantage of a tired defense, not necessarily one to wear down the d. More Carries would be welcome, but gee can do well without them. It's not the yardage/what he did with his touches, it's the extent to which F-Jax is still involved in this offense (it's basically a 50/50 split after preseason suggested Spiller would be a true feature back) and Spiller isn't yet getting GL carries. P.S. the Seahawks defense's performance vs the 49ers should make Panthers fans feel just a little bit better. Another thing on the Panthers woes:
Is this really any different than their usual troughs that Newton pulls them out of sooner or later? If not, what's the difference now?

The numbers are very misleading. He's scored 52 pts according to FBG. 60% of those points have been in the 4th quarter and 93% of those points have been while "trailing big". So basically he's been horrible when not playing against a prevent defense.
