Would not surprise me to see Saints draft QB next year.
I kinda doubt that since they all came out this year & by all accounts 2025 class is pretty well devoid of legit QB prospects.
At least 3 will get drafted in round 1 next year. So not as good and believe Penix would probably be #1 but still teams who need will draft and lots have drafted them lately.

3 isn't that controversial. I could see 4 go in the first round.
4? I don’t even think 3 will. What 4 teams are spending a 1st on a QB next year?

And what 3 QB are good enough to be drafted with 1st round capital?
Sanders, Beck, Allar, Smith, Ewers, Millroe.

I see Beck, Sanders, and Ewers are near locks. Smith, Allar, Millroe I could also see due to physical traits.

I’m skeptical there are 4 1st round talents on that list or that 4 NFL teams will think so.

But ya never know. Heck, Kenny Pickett was a 1st, so anything’s possible.

Did anyone expect Atlanta to use a 1st on a QB this year? It's such an important position that if a team thinks a QB has a first round grade then it's probably correct for them to take the QB, regardless of the quality of starter they have right now. Could certainly see any of the Seahawks, Raiders, Bucs, Giants, Titans looking at one, only takes one injury to a Lamar or Kyler that kills long term rushing upside and they're wanting to forward plan as well

No idea what teams will do next year....Teams that suck at QB though are:
Raiders
Broncos- maybe Nix surprises
Panthers- unless Young takes a step
Steelers
Jets- if Rodgers retires

Also forgot about Bucs, Titans, Seahawks, and Giants.

Take the Titans, Panthers out. They will try to help QBs still. Too fast to repeat. But add Saints, Browns, Dolphins, Cowboys(last 2 see Tua, Prescott go to other needy team)

I guess maybe Atlanta will do it again next year then?

I remain skeptical. But we’ll see.

Teams that may be looking at QB next year:

Steelers: They have no QBs signed beyond 2024
Rams: Stafford in his late 30s, they can get out of his deal after the 2025 season
Jets: Rodgers in his 40s and no obvious heir on the roster
Raiders: Obvious choice to look for a QB
Giants: They can get out from Jones' contract next offseason
Saints: Similar to Rams in that they may have to wait until after 2025 to remove the incumbent
Seahawks: Smith free agent after 2025 and Howell might not be the answer

Getting a QB picked at #8 overall in a superflex dynasty league in the 2.3-2.7 is crazy value. I can't imagine how one could say that is too high.

The reason he's falling that far is reasonable when considering the guys going ahead of him, but to call that too early is pretty surprising. His situation obviously stinks but if it's dynasty and SF he is a no brainer in that range.

I have a SF rookie draft coming up and I'm trying to decide how much I like the idea of taking Penix at 15. Like you said a QB picked 8th overall being available that late is not common, but it's hard to hold a pick for 2 years before expecting to see it pay off in some way or gain value when good WRs are on the board.

I can understand that, but if he hits the payoff from any 2nd round pick is worth it.

To be honest I am surprised that everyone thinks a 36 year old Cousins will continue to be durable. Did anyone watch Quarterback on Netflix? Dudes body was breaking down back then and that was 2 years ago before the torn Achilles. Anything is possible of course. Maybe he'll defy the odds and continue to be healthy and productive when he is 37 years old next year. I don't expect it though.

I didn't see it as his body breaking down as much as the QB position takes punishment and needs to take care of themselves in order to make it through a season. But this would apply to every QB in the league that starts. I didn't see the issues showcased in the doc as being age related in any way.

Had two drafts over the weekend. 12 teams, 30 man rosters. Both start 2qbs, 2rbs, 4wrs, 2tes, K, def. PPR

Here are the results from our SharkPool FFPC dynasty rookie/free agent draft. 1QB, TE-P, 12 teams.
There is so much context needed with roster construction, trades, etc but thought another data point for rookie ADP wouldn’t hurt.

12 team SF, PPR, no K, no D/ST
1.01 - Caleb
1.02 - MH2
1.03 - Maye (same team that had 1.01)
1.04 - Daniels
1.05 - Nabers
1.06 - Odunze
1.07 - Bowers
1.08 - McCarthy
1.09 - Brian Thomas
1.10 - Brooks
1.11 - Worthy
1.12 - Nix

2.01 - Coleman
2.02 - Benson
2.03 - Pennix
2.04 - McConkey
2.05 - Pearsall
2.06 - Wright
2.07 - Legett
2.08 - Corum
2.09 - Lloyd
2.10 - Vidal
2.11 - Polk
2.12 - Mitchell
2.13 (supplemental pick, LB winner) - Burton

Some interesting picks. 1.03 Maye over QBs in seemingly better situations. Bowers at 1.07 despite it not being TE-P, and ahead of McCarthy & Nix. McConkey sliding to 2.04

The variation in some of these drafts is wild- cross positionally/ league settings notwithstanding.
When you look back at drafts from a few years ago, it's easy to see why people stick with their evaluations. If you don't think a guy's going to work out, stick to your guns.
Agreed. And it’s interesting to see how things move as time moves forward. Rumors of JaWill cause Estime’s stock to jump. Same with Worthy.

IMO worthy has jumped way too high. No way I take him 11th overall ahead of Nix in SF.

For one, Kelce is still the WR1 there, and for another, Worthy has some flaws to his game. Finally, Rice didn’t die, and isn’t going to be out of the league - even with an 8-game suspension, Worthy’s targets will shrink.

And on top of all that, everyone is tryna get the next Tyreek. But Tyreek is a unicorn. There is no next Tyreek. That should be clear from how good he’s been in MIA.

It’ll be even more fascinating to see where Worthy goes in rookie drafts after something actually happens with Rice. At this point I wouldn’t touch him at that cost.

Looking at the recent draft summaries, it appears no real shift in Audric Estime's draft position ....
Early posts have him 22-44 range ... then recently 34-52 range ... might appear to be a downward shift .... but not really sure..
Overall average draft Spot is 32.4 with Std Dev 8.6 n=14

Yeah, there was a little excitement for a day or two, then some stuff came out disputing the reports that Denver had soured on JaWill.

It’s amazing how one news cycle can impact rookie drafts so much, especially at RB.

And now there are reports that Williams is looking good. I try not to put much stock into OTA or training camp reports unless there is injury news or some drama report that a player is unhappy with something in their personal lives, team, or contract. As time passes, what is true and what is not reveals itself, but so many clickbait and fluff reports make it difficult to sort out the truth.

12 team best ball, ppr, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 R/W/T

Excellent advice to be reminded of. I rarely entirely dismiss a report this time of year; I put it into context and catalog it away. If camp reports echo OTA reports on Javonte Williams, it becomes a more actionable point. I'm not hitting the panic button in June based solely on OTA reports. I am, however, more interested in Jaleel McLaughlin if I can acquire him for a minimal investment.

I believe there is some value to mine here for astute fantasy managers. Sean Payton has proven himself to be one of the best HCs for producing RB value, so I am monitoring this situation closely. The Denver RB room is crowded with (non-elite) talent, and they have an RB-friendly schedule. Williams (mixed reports, but arguably the closest to elite of the mix), McLaughlin (glowing reports, but size concerns), Perine (discouraging reports, but a proven vet), Estime (dinged up in OTAs, but still has that rookie shine), and Watson (arguably the best receiver of the bunch, but in a fight to earn a spot) are all intriguing, but they could also cancel one another's value out.

I should have put a disclaimer on the Vidal pick - that owner lost connection and autodrafted McCarthy at that pick, but he'd already taken Caleb so didn't want JJM. By the time he reestablished connection in the late 2nd he asked if he could re-do that pick (without undoing any of the ones between) and the commish let him. So Vidal was taken 2.02 but it was actually done around pick 2.11, if that makes sense.

Vidal didn’t play at all tonight which seems to indicate he made the team.
