LMAO I'm ######ed and didn't read the rules closely enough.

I thought I had a brilliant strategy picking players from only two teams.

I'm OUT. :wall: :lmao: :lmao:

Missed this from the rules:

"In the first three rounds, ONLY YOUR TWO HIGHEST-SCORING PLAYERS FROM EACH NFL TEAM WILL COUNT TOWARD YOUR SCORE. In the Super Bowl, ALL your players count toward your score."

Losing Hopkins will hurt. Of course now I wish I hadn't even picked him since I didn't need him. Will need huge weeks from Brady and my Pitts/Sea guys to survive this week, since it's traditionally the highest cut line. Conley might help a little more depending on Mackin's status.

Ummm, a NE-KC Super Bowl?
No. I obviously didn't comprehend the rules too well.

I figured I was making the call that NE would be in the Super Bowl, so I'd have a bunch of players (all from NE) come SB time.

- KC players would get me past wild card week

- Divisional/Championship/Super Bowl weeks I'd rely solely on the NE players.

I guess I just had it in my mind the contest weekly lineup worked the same as the regular season contest where your best 1 QB would count, etc.

Live and learn.

How did you figure you would cash even if you got to the final week? You never thought someone would deploy this strategy using one AFC and one NFC team?

edit: oops i missed a couple posts that pretty much cleared this up...

Me and you both brother.....not sure how I missed it but I did. Was a busy week at work but wasted too much time going the same route as you with NE/SEA and dropped the ball. Or missed the chip shot like our boy in Minny!!

When I selected my team, I assumed that about 25% of the entries had no idea what the rules were. But based on this thread, it's pretty clear that number is actually 50% or higher.

I'm out. I tried to give myself a bit under a 50-50 shot of advancing here, in order to maximize my number of SB players. But my Wild Card players did worse than expected, and the cutoff was higher than expected, so I wasn't even close - 5156th place, and 27 points below the cutoff.

Leaving out my DEN & ARI players, I had:

Alfred Blue $7 9.90
Houston Texans $6 5.00
Bryce Brown $4 0.00
Mason Crosby $7 11.00
Green Bay Packers $6 8.00
Pierre Thomas $3 0.70

But I don't think 11 guys in the SB will do it (PITvSEA or PITvARI) so not sure what I was thinking.

Where are all of you seeing the results?
I click on the link in the OP and see no link to the team I submitted...

I clicked thru and quickly scanned the 4 pages and didn't notice anything to where I can find my team

TIA!

This is how you do it. Very nice.

Out in the first round for the first time ever. Thank you Hoyer and Novak. Sucks being a homer.

An Arizona/Denver Super Bowl will be very frustrating! :-)

I scored 100.2 thanks to huge scores KC D, Kelce, and Reed - but will only have 7 instead of 9 this week since WAS lost. Need KC, PIT and CAR to win this week in order to have 6 for next week - may not be enough even if all those teams win.

After reading more posts, I still don't understand the rules. You can have 3 team defenses give you points in the wild card week?

I re-read the rules again and must have missed this important point:

"positions are irrelevant in all rounds. Positions play no role in determining which players' scores count."

Sweet Jesus. So different. I like it.

Yeah, that's why most of my non-Super Bowl-team buys were Ds and PKs. Cheap with almost guaranteed scores.

Well, I guess I don't feel as bad after seeing that many others ####ed up as well.

Good luck to you guys still in it. See you next year.

I'm upset I didn't make the cut for this so would appreciate if you guys all stopped posting in here/bumping this so it can remain out of my sight.

I'm probably toast this weekend. I always underestimate the number of people who don't read the rules. 7 scores this weekend isn't going to cut it when they aren't QBs..

From the max 22 players of the Pit - GB Super Bowl, hopefully most of them have 4 player this week! Sheesh .. 22?

Actually the last 4 champions have had 7 or less players score for them in the second week of the playoffs.

You are cutting to 2000 but if you look at Iggy's distribution on the number of players scoring per entry there are only about 1,250 with 10 or greater scoring this week. Which leaves a minimum of around 750 spots to sneak in with a sub par score. When you think about it the difference between 7 guys and 9 guys isn't all that much because you can't afford all studs. The right QB/WR stack will more than make up the difference. In fact most of these entries are carried by 4 to 6 guys in week 2. The cuts for Week 2 on those entries were from 125 all the way up to 186 and in most cases the winners just squeaked into the next round.

This contest is all about picking the Superbowl and a couple of wildcard/divisional round winners to get you just over the cut line in the first two weeks. The winners all have between 12 and 14 players in the Superbowl so IMO that looks like the sweet spot.

I'm in trouble as well. I have 9 players for this weekend, but two of them are ABrown (out?) and DAdams (out).

Excellent point. Unfortunately my 7 are only projected to score 89 points. Really needed Cousins to win last week. I also screwed up by not taking Palmer and selecting every receiving option in Ari. Traditionally this weeks cutoff has been very high.

There are some live entries which looked a lot better before the carnage of last week. Iggy's stats show 54.1% own Antonio, 19.7% own D Willy and 5.5% own Adams and all are out. 50.4% own Big Ben and 11.7% own Maclin and neither is likely to be near their potential. I suspect their is a lot of cross ownership of the Steeler players, but even among those entries with only one owned it hurts a lot to have a large amount of the $250 invested in certain zeroes.

First year doing this, and I screwed up on the strategy. Picked a lot of players from different teams, and the one team I went heavy on was WAS.

Next year.

I noticed this too and agree 100%. I also believe the cut line will be lower this year. I think the games will be lower scoring, but the big reason I think this is the injuries. All the Steelers that are out, Ben's injured shoulder, Maclin, Peyton being able to only throw the ball 10 yards, etc.

I have a Steelers/Seahawks Super Bowl. Here's my thoughts on the games (for what it's worth, which isn't much)

NE/KC--I could see this as one of those funky Bolden & Steven Jackson games grinding the clock. With Maclin out, I see no offense from KC, so I think NE will shorten the game if they have a lead in order to protect Gronk and Edelman.

GB/AZ--Could go any number of ways. I think AZ wins, but it could be high scoring, or GB offense could disintegrate again, limiting scoring.

SEA/CAR--Defense usually steps upon the playoffs, and I think this will be a low-scoring, field position game. The team that capitalizes on an oppent's mistake comes out on top.

DEN/PIT--it's a shame what's happened to the Steeler's this year. Ben's shoulder injury limits his upside for offensive production. Add to that the Denver D, and I see a long day for them. And that is great news for Peyton, because he can't throw longer than 10 yards. I expect the Broncos to run the ball about 85 times. I don't think Pittsburgh will stop them, and I don't think they can answer either.

So there it is. This is why I think the cut will be (much) lower than last year's 139ish cut. I'm predicting 122.

This entry is still alive.

Losing Hopkins will hurt. Of course now I wish I hadn't even picked him since I didn't need him. Will need huge weeks from Brady and my Pitts/Sea guys to survive this week, since it's traditionally the highest cut line. Conley might help a little more depending on Mackin's status.
~42 points from Brady and Conley....decent start, but Pittsburgh's chances look bleak.

Emotional straddle play works; I would have preferred to see Rodgers and Green Bay go on, but in the contest having Arizona in the SB with Palmer and Fitzgerald hitting this week could just be enough to get me through.

The good news-- On to the next round!

The Bad news--I'm rolling with Brady, James White, Amendola, and David Johnson the rest of the way.

Good luck to everyone. It's been fun.
