I'd be a hero if I nailed down BB's picks...here goes...Pats select...
1.21 (21): OLB Bobby Carpenter
LB is the most obvious need. They had to move Vrabel inside last year. There were some rumors the Pats might switch back to a 4/3, but it probably won't happen this year. Vrabel will have to stay inside if they do keep the 3/4 since they have nobody else on the Inside behind him. Banta-Cain is currently slated to start at OLB. Carpenter says he models his game after Mike Vrabel. His father played for Parcells (with BB as assistant coach) in NY. Alot of mocks have the Pats taking this guy, and almost none have him going before the Pats pick.
2.21 (52): WR Maurice Stovall
WR is the second most obvious need, almost the biggest. Especially a big guy who can make the tough possesion catches. If Sinorice Moss is on the board, Pats might look at him just becase they also need a returner. He's got the BB connection through Weis at ND. Already projected as a 2nd rounder, it would be a nice value. At the same time, many mocks have him still on the board by this pick, but not many have the Pats picking him.
3.11 (75): RB Maurice Drew
RB is a need for the future as Dillon is showing signs of age/wear-and-tear. Drew should also pump life into the return game. There are no rumors to suggest the Pats like this guy, but that's because BB doesn't give away anything. He would be a nice value, though I have seen mocks where this guy falls to the 90s.
3.21 (86): CB Alan Zemaitis
CB is a need simply because... well, Troy Brown has seen time at DB the past two years. This guy is very intelligent and NFL-ready, which is why he is rated as a 2nd rounder. I have seen a mock where he has fallen to 84th overall to the 49ers, but none where he falls this far. So it might be wishful thinking... Then again I saw Maurice Drew fall as low as 92 to the Jaguars... So the Pats could still get both of these guys if they were to go Zemaitis at 75 and Drew at 86.
Dream scenario here.
