Preseason Game Observations (1 Viewer)

As noted in the other thread I think it's a positive for Spiller that he's getting the goal-line work. I knocked him down a bit in the first round because I thought he might lose some of those touches. He's back in my top 5 now.

Pat White in at QB for Washington. Early second quarter. Shanny trying to give the rest of the offense some reps with the RG3 replacement? Or trying to preserve Grossman for the regular season?

Why even play these stupid games?

- Russell Wilson was disappointing.
I don't think Wilson was particularly disappointing.

1st drive: Wilson was 5/5 for 67 yards with 1 run for 13 yards. The drive stalled when he was sacked, but IIRC that was when Turbin completely whiffed on the pass block and Wilson didn't have much of a chance to escape.

2nd drive: Wilson was sacked on the first play but the offense recovered to get a couple first downs, mostly running, but Wilson was 2/2 for 27 yards. His pass to Luke Wilson on 3rd and 5 came up a yard short, ending the drive.

3rd drive: Wilson was 1/3 for 3 yards and the Seahawks did not gain a first down. However, on 3rd and 17, he threw a beautiful pass to Tate that should have been caught for a first down.

4th drive: Wilson was 1/2 for 4 yards with an interception, but it was a tipped pass.

5th drive: Wilson was 1/3 for 9 yards with an interception. This one was a bad decision and also a poor pass.

6th drive: Wilson was 1/2 for 16 yards and got sacked a couple more times before Michael ran for the TD.

Overall, he was accurate (11/17, with another throw to Tate that should have been caught IMO) and made a few very nice throws. He moved around the pocket well and made one nice run for a first down. He really only made one bad decision that I recall, on the second interception.

The thing that stood out more to me was that Seattle's pass protection needs improvement. Wilson was officially sacked 3 times, but he was also sacked another time when offensive holding was called. And I think there was at least one other offensive holding call.
Tipped passes are one of the hits on him being a short QB. Also that second interception came on the heels of a missed pick the play before that he got away with. These are not insignificant glitches.

Alf done for the day? If Helu keeps running like this there goes his sleeper value
Helu could really help this team as a weapon. If not for his injury, we may not even know about Morris. Now they should utilize both. Halu could easily play Bush's role in Detroit.
He's clearly the superior pass catcher, but I suppose that doesn't say much. Helu's injury woes date all the way back to college however. He's a good compliment for sure but not someone you want to lean on. I think the biggest fantasy relevance he'll have is cutting into ALMOs touches.

OK, I missed the play before the second interception. Sounds like he made two bad decisions (those two plays) in roughly 21 dropbacks... were there others not being discussed here? I'm just wondering if the criticism I've seen is legit or overstated.

As for tipped passes, I get that he is short and thus more susceptible to those than taller QBs. However, counting all preseason, regular season, and postseason passing attempts for Wilson to date, he has 8 batted/tipped passes in 490 passing attempts... that's 1.6%. I assume that is higher than most NFL QBs, but it's still rare enough that I consider last night's tipped interception to be somewhat flukish and not an indictment on Wilson's performance.

Russell Wilson looked indecisive and inaccurate. He should have had 3 picks.
He was 11/17 with one of the incompletions right on the money to Tate. One of the interceptions was tipped. How can you say he was inaccurate?

Aside from the second interception, how many bad throws did he have?

Also, please elaborate on why you say he looked indecisive. I didn't see that.

Edit: not saying you are wrong; I had the game on but was not watching closely, so perhaps I missed some bad decisions/throws.
I would even go so far as to say the receiver either let up or was held back. His overall trajectory changes and the receiver may have batted the ball down. Still, it wasn't a great decision. I'm hoping that was a play where the throw was purposely forced.

Pretty sure that pass got tipped last night, bro.

Im trying to figure out how I can watch all of these games at the same time, but I havent determined a feasible answer yet
It's easiest just to go to the NFLN's whiparound coverage. Everything else will drive you nuts.
Is that available online on NFL.com or something? I dont have any cable/statellite, etc right now

Otherwise I'll probably just depend on the shark pool and the shortened game versions which I think are on NFL.com

I feel bad for Geno Smith. The stats are not indicating how he is playing. Just putrid by the Jets players. I think he was honestly surrounded by better offensive talent in WVU.

You can stream the network. The quality is less than ideal though.

1st and goal at the 4 after a penalty....2 handoffs to Miller for no gain. Bucs run D is obviously stout....but at leat Miller is getting the touches.

SJax will be money this year. Looks great in the ATL offense. Im having trouble deciding who to take between him, CJ1K, and Ridley though.
