Preseason Game Observations (1 Viewer)

Giants starting safety Stevie Brown tore his ACL. Likely done for the year.
Ouch. Giants have had issues on defense against the big play AND in third down, not to mention against the run. Big loss. Especially if the front line doesn't get back to pressuring the QB ala two years ago.
brown was a revelation and big play machine in 2012... that isnanbig loss.

I get nervous about Kaepernick because it feels like when he is playing within the offense, from the pocket, he looks average. Sexy as hell when things break down, but a Super Bowl winning QB needs to be able to sit in the pocket, and zing darts.

I get depressed watchig Ponder.

Kaep played like a Demigod after that awful start. Ponder better be lookin over his shoulder for Greg Jennings sister if he makes him reach for a pass again.

I kind of like the Colt McCoy signing in SF. It seems like he can do a lot of the same things as Colin, not to the same level obviously. However, seems like a comparable replacement.

ETA: that pick was right on cue.

It's almost like they told Kaep not to run under any circumstances. If he is even above average in the pocket he's going to put up big numbers.

Niners are leaving cavernous holes for their RB's..Gore should be as solid as ever.

on last night's Jets/Giants game, anyone else just a bit nervous about Eli's horrible preseason stats?

Almost every pass has been toward Robinson's coverage. He has given up the majority of the passing yards and the TD.

Also should be noted that it's clear the backup is Hunter, then James. I didn't know Hunter was full go already.
James is going to get "his kind of touches" no matter what happens to Gore.

SOmetimes there is a RB and a backup.........then a 3rd guy who has his role no matter what happens to the starter. LIke a Sproles, Woodhead kinda guy who is used for for reverses, in the pasing game, and the occasional run

Adp is so friggin big and combined with his season last year it would not surprise me at all if he got busted for hgh
Some of you will never learn when it comes to AP! He is a beast and it is oh natural! He was asked this question this preseason during TC and he laughed. He said he wants EVERYONE to get tested! I have been a HUGE Vikes fan for many years and this guy is just not normal. He is like a robot!!!

The level of ignorance in this post is astonishing.

Now, I am not saying Peterson is doing anything against the rules............................but when you take ANY player at his word, I question your sanity and your IQ.

Him saying everyone should get tested means nothing unless he submits urine and blood while he is saying it and we all sit around and watch the results, and we do this every week. Otherwise, those words are beyond useless.

I am not saying I take ANY player's word, I am taking AP's word. The guy has been a robot of a player since he has been in the NFL. Don't want to argue, just stating my opinion on what I have seen from him over the last 7 years or so.

I think the Jets have the worst starter in the league, assuming it is Sanchez. Who is next, Ponder, Flynn or Gabbert? I think it is Ponder because he actually has weapons around him, Flynn doesn't

You really think Sanchez is worse than Ponder? Ponder has AP, a very good TE, he had Harvin last year, Jennings now, Sanchez has ummm Cumberpatch and Santonio "I don't want to play here" Holmes and Stephen Hill who actually has hands made of stone. I am not saying I agree or disagree, just saying there is room for debate on that in mho.

1) some ppl here think Geno has earned the starter job

2) Cumberpatch is being taken in the 16th round of fantasy drafts

Gerhart for a big slow guy sure goes down easily. He is a real angel.
Wow- out of all the things you could observe in this game, you decide to snidely put down a member of an endangered species. Who, btw, is getting royally shafted by sitting behind the game's premiere back, when he is better than 3/4 of the RBs in this league. And no, Gerhart is not "slow" by any stretch of the imagination. He is faster than most of the starting backs in the NFL.He does not go down "easily," but, like all RBs, he will go down if his line doesn't block and he is met in the backfield as soon as he gets the ball. But he is white. And that's all you're seeing, like too many fans and "journalists."

Points well taken, but do you think Ponder is better than Sanchez?

Sorry Toby, I did not realize you were reading this while the game was playing.

No it's not. Almost all of the guys in the NFL work hard. The very good ons especially.
Have you looked at the linemen on every team? They aren't "working" at all, let along working hard. Except, of course, for their knives and forks. Many of them are obese, and nearly all are fat. Not sure what "workouts" they can do, and still maintain those jiggling rolls of fat. Maybe they bench press pork chops or something.

I hear they are now forcing them to cut their own pork chops and even feed themselves. Those workouts will payoff in the long run, that weight will come off eventually. cut, cut cut, lift and chew, 17 times mister or your butt will be eating a 4th helping!

I prefer Sanchez and its not that close.

^^Toby Gerhart's father. He is not better than 3/4 of the RB's in the NFL.

He is white, though.

I will just say it, I want the Vikings to keep MBT and extra WR ie Webb. Cassel has done nothing to justify a roster spot. I think MBT has more upside than Cassel.

Really wish the broadcast would show these fans running on the field getting pummeled.

Broadcaster said Jerome Simpson blindsided the first one.

Would love to have seen that.

I am a Jags fan. Gabbert FINALLY looked like an NFL QB in the last preseason game he started... but he has a lot to prove to me to not believe he's terrible. I try to be understanding to the fact that he was put into a terrible situation with no camp to prepare and no offensive line when he came into the league and was forced to start as a rookie, but since then he's looked rattled at the slightest hint of pressure. If he doesn't improve this year, I hope we tank the season (again) so we can get Clowney or Bridgewater. TL:DR version, I think Gabbert is the 2nd worst QB in the NFL to Sanchez, and Ponder isn't far behind.
