Preseason Game Observations (1 Viewer)

Saints offensive line looking off to start, Brees has no time. Houston doesn't even have their 2 starting DE's playing today (Watt & Antonio Smith.)

Very well designed screen play to Ingram. Houston Def over pursued freeing Ingram for the catch and run.

Houston LB'er Joe Mays blows a tackle and collides with S Keo freeing Pierre for an easy scamper for the TD.

This is the second time in the past 2 games that Ingram has caught a screen pass. I think Payton finally realized that everyone an their mother knew Ingram was going to run on 1st and 2nd down and just stacked the box on them. This could really open things up for Ingram if they utilize this in the regular season.

So let's see: Sanchez is dead. Geno is a disaster. Simms isn't ready.

Maybe trade to get Leon Washington or Brad Smith back on the team and go to a full-time Wildcat?
At this point I think they'd seriously consider taking Tebow back.

Keep reading. We had fun with that last night.
Just catching up. Nice to see that we're pathetically on the same page, so to speak.

What's NO's WR rotation like? Who started? I see that Toon has already gotten some action.
Toon started the game.
In place of Colston.
Should we start paying serious attention here to either Toon or Stills? They have both flashed a lot of potential. Or does this all become just another preseason memory when Colston starts playing?
I would pay attention to both in dynasty. Toon is being groomed for Colston's role, Stills for Moore's role. The injury to Joe Morgan and departure of Devery Henderson opened the door for one to get a lot of playing time this season as the 3rd WR and it looks like that will be Stills. Couple of great catches today. Kid looks really polished for a 21 year old.

Are we at the point in redrafts where Stills should actually be taken where you would normally look at Moore?

No I don't think so. Moore is still the starter and likely to produce as he did last year. Stills would be more of a late flyer with intriguing upside if Moore misses time.

Other than the fumbles, Cadet is having another good preseason. If the wheels fall off Sproles faster than people think, he could be valuable in the next couple years.

Robinson and Cadet both look good. Imagine the Saints might have trouble getting either of these guys on the practice squad.

Ryan Griffin looks like a good find as well.

Is pierre thomas going to have value?

A couple months ago everyone had him above Ingram, then it switched. Now I'm looking at today's box score and thomas has a lot of points.

He broke a single dump-off for 50+ yards and a TD late in the second half, and I don't think you're going to be able to count on that. Looked like a play that broke down and he was in the right place at the right time. Defender missed the tackle, he got a good block, and then he was free. He looked good doing it, but probably not how they envisioned that play working on paper. I'd still take Ingram.

You are right, you can't count on PT making those plays very often. The thing is he still has the ability to do so when given the opportunity. He has limited value in his current situation. If Sproles or Ingram miss a significant amount of time his value will trend upwards.

What's everyone think, Boldin or Desean Jackson this year?
Not sure if serious.
I am. I know Jackson is going much higher, but both were similar last year. Both should improve this year under new circumstances. Both are on teams where the other "top" WR is out.
Well, since I already drafted D-Jax twice, I'm certainly hoping he's the correct answer. I expect he'll have a nice year. Health is always a concern though, no doubt.

Shouldn't this be in the assistant coaches thread?
Maybe, I just saw the 49ers playing and was wondering what people thought about Boldin vs someone that I saw as pretty similar. Just a ? that popped into my head. I'm not debating between which to draft or who to keep or anything.

Could people please find some other way to describe what they are seeing besides saying a player is a beast?

This was beyond old last year since it's inception.

TIA
