Preseason Game Observations (1 Viewer)

can cousins make all the throws?

he doesn't need to have a howitzer like starter RGIII (or stafford)...

but would he have attendant rumblings about arm strength like dalton?

On Lacy

FWIW I remember a couple of Packer beat writers saying on twitter that he was by far the best RB in pass pro (maybe a week or so ago on twitter)

GB's O-line seemed to get manhandled on obvious running downs. For example, 3rd & 1 on their 2nd drive, lined up in the I with Kuhn at FB. The 2 DT's for St. Louis drove the center and BOTH guards 3 yards off the line of scrimmage.

As a Bama fan I'll be stunned if Lacy can stay healthy all year, but when he is, he's filthy.

Gronk unlikely to be back by week 1: http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/9582280/rob-gronkowski-new-england-patriots-unlikely-back-week-1

Pick up Sudfeld if you draft Gronk....who has looked good while Gronk is out.
Pick up Sudfeld regardless, reach for him imo. Potential value as a TE is much higher than whatever depth you were planning on taking in the last few rounds.
Sudfeld talk is getting a little out of hand though. He has had one 2 pt conversion. Other than that, every other catch has been with the backups in and from qb NOT named Brady.

Ignore the preseason then - hes lining up in practice the exact same way Hernandez was.

Hes starting the season as their receiving TE and when Gronk returns I see them sharing the field as a very high possibility. Its worth a reach imo just too much upside.

Worth a reach, sure, I can be on board with that, but some people currently act like it's plug and play with the guy.

I guess what I was trying to suggest is that the hype has increased DURING the preseason when nothing he has done during the preseason has suggested such the uproar in approval.

If you liked him before, and still like him, I get it. If you only like him because of the 2 preseason games, then I don't get it that much.

I think the people that overreacted to all the Lacy news and concerns and draft spot, etc might end up kicking themselves.

I just watched the game vs. the Rams and A)its pre-season and B)its a small sample size but if he continues to run like that and stay on the field in those situations, this could easily be a guy that ends up with 1150/10-12Tds by default. A guy that hard to bring down has the look of that kind of back that busts a 30 yard Td late in the 4th qaurter 4-5 times a year just because they have worn down the defense and its hard to imagine a scenario where a D can commit extra bodies to stopping him. They will simply shift Cobb or Finley and draw those mid-level defenders out and if they really want to run, Finley is a pretty good blocker (but doesn't get talked about much).
I don't want to rain on your parade, because I like Lacy this year, but 30 yard TDs 4-5 times a year doesn't happen much at all and when it does, it is usually in a historic season or in a great season by a guy with jets. All the guys in the article below from Grantland on CJ1K this year had between 1454-2097 yards on the year. If Lacy does in fact get 4-5 30 yard TDs, he is most likely in discussions as a top 5 pick next year.
Like what? Well, start with those long touchdown runs. During that big season, Johnson had seven touchdown runs of 30 yards or more. Does that seem like a lot? It is. It's the most any player has had in one season since Jim Brown had seven such touchdowns in 1958. There have been only 23 instances of a guy accruing even four 30-plus yard touchdowns since the merger, let alone seven. Somehow, last year, three guys managed to rack up four or more, as Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson each had four, while Doug Martin finished with five.
And would that be crazy? The number wasnt meant to be literal, just an example. They wear teams down and you start seeing lacy piling up end of game yards. Maybe he breaks off a 17 yard td, an 18 yard run here or there. I guess I really meant he is a good candidate to be one of tHose guys that compiles good numbers because of the way he would be used.

Bell looks like he doesn't know he is supposed to break tackles. I thought he was a strong runner?
It is only 4 carries, can we relax here at the pool? His knee could be bothering him, or he could be like Doug Martin who looked lost last year for 6 games and the preseason, or he could suck? 4 carries isn't going to tell us though

Maybe you should relax.
I could use a foot rub, you volunteering?

I think the Redskins defense is a little underestimated this year, but the Pitt offensive line is looking like the worst in the league. You can't even see what any skill players can do because there are no holes and no time to throw a pass.

After 2 preseason games these are the later ADP players that stand out for ppr leagues

C.Givens

A.Roberts

......A.Fasano.

Did I just write A.Fasano?! :porked:
Is Fasano going to start over Kelce and Moeaki? I can't see drafting him in normal leagues, but he'd be a decent safe play for best-ball leagues. He's only $2 in the subscriber contest...
Good point. Who knows at this point. They did sign Fasano for 4 years 16 million so I guess Reid (or the GM) did "like him." Moeaki was just recently cleared to practice (July 23) so it will be interesting to see how the depth chart plays out.

Kelce is a wild card.
I have drafted Fasano before as a possible sleeper TE. He was very disappointing. When presented with the choice I went with Kelce as I think he has the most upside. From what I saw of Kelce's blocking I was really impressed, and this makes me think he will see the field frequently. I am not sold on the receivers besides Bowe so I think there will be many targets to the RB and TE instead.

Rookie TE rarely perform well but to every rule there is also an exception.

Here is an article I liked about the situation - http://arrowheadaddict.com/2013/05/27/the-kansas-city-chiefs-and-the-tight-end-position/

I have not really been keeping up with news on how the competition has been shaking up however.

i think he led nation in yards after contact in 2012...different, smaller but strong RB, david wilson did in 2011.
I thought Bell was supposed to be a power back? Wilson is elusive and has a strong YAC. And Wilson has shown he can perform in the NFL. Yet Bell is being drafted before him. Good luck with that everybody!

I have done 10 redrafts already this year and Bell hasn't went ahead of Wilson in even one, but way to over react on 4 carries

I'd rather overreact to 4 carries than be optimistic with 0 carries.

She also thinks 4 carries is a "heavy workload". I think she's just got a bunch of hormones flowing right now. Best to back away slowly.
