QB Aaron Rodgers, PIT (3 Viewers)

Any of you banging the Tyrod Taylor drum. How much have you seen of him?
Doesn't throw WR's open. Doesn't throw into NFL windows. Does not throw with any
anticipation/timing. Yes, A Rodgers is not good but he is not Tyrod bad.
100% agree with this.

Tyrod played arguably the best football of his career last season, which was still not really any better than Rodgers is playing right now. Tyrod is inaccurate, struggles to make multiple reads, and takes too many sacks. His one biggest skill is he's always avoided turnovers, which isn't really something that's gonna do anything for the Jets.

Tyrod is a solid backup, but the Jets will be a worse offense if they sit Rodgers for Taylor. If anyone has Wilson or Adams in fantasy, they should be rooting heavily against Taylor playing. Hall probably would be a push, as he'd likely see more carries, but fewer catches.

Tyrod is a solid backup,
agreed. hes an ideal backup. part of his problem as a starter is he also seems to get hurt a lot.

hes great to go in for a couple games when there is an injury but you dont likely want him to start long term.

another thing to say.... I figured Rodgers would start slow. I know hes been with the team a year prior to starting week 1 but due to injury he had only started one game. so coming back from the injury at the age of 40 and still somewhat unfamiliar with the offense.... it felt like he wouldnt come out on fire.

it also didnt help that he had a reasonably tough schedule to start the year.

San Fran in week 1.
Tennessee week 2---- while the team isnt good the defense is at least decent.
Pats in week 3----- same as tenessee. bad team but defense decent
Denver week 4- at the time I thought this was a game they should have won, and I still feel that way to some degree, but Denver has been upsetting a few teams this year.
Minny week 5
Buffalo week 6
Pittsburgh week 7
Pats week 8
Houston week 9
Arizona week 10

I'd say overall this is a pretty tough schedule. more playoff teams than non playoff teams and the non playoff teams had mostly decent defenses.....to come back from injury and still be somewhat unfamiliar with the offense.... thats a tough hill to climb. sure, you expect better I get it, but it wasnt exactly a situation where a great season was a sure thing for him.

thats all I'm saying.

I figured it would take 3 or 4 weeks for the offense to get on track. and they have shown flashes.... but not many cases where they really put it together. given the situation Im not totally surprised but I did expect a better year than we have seen. Though I also expected better play from the defense than we have seen this year too.

Do they pass on QB in the draft only for ARod to go AWol in the summer again?

You can’t. They already passed on McCarthy and Nix, and they must be kicking themselves for having done so. But if there’s no QB where they will pick from, they cannot force it and waste another two or three years trying to coach up a lug.

I agree and to add to that, their normally reliable kicker probably cost them two games as well. The Jets are being the typical Jets so far, but it seems like they actually have a pretty decent team despite the record.

Yes. The only game they were completely outclassed in was AZ. That was . . . tremendously disappointing. The SF and PIT games, where they got beat with physicality and toughness, were at least close or within striking distance at halftime/mid-3rd quarter.

But those were their three worst losses. Everything else has been at or under a touchdown.

Their problems have been starting very slowly and special teams. It seems like it takes them a quarter-plus to get settled on offense. I mean, they look bad out of the jump. Then you’ve got all the missed field goals in those tight games. Zuerlein missed from inside the thirty against the Bills the game they lost by three.

I mean, it’s been a debacle for the Jets, but at least it hasn’t been coaching mismanagement of time situations or anything. That said—and I’m speaking as a fan of them here—it’s still been excruciating to watch. They should be 5-6 and in the hunt instead of 3-8 and pretty much completely out of it.

I'm really looking forward to Rodgers admitting responsibility for his part in this disaster of a season and volunteering to take a pay cut to help build a better team for next year.

@32BeatWriters
“One source explained that Rodgers has resisted getting scans done, not wanting to reveal the severity of his injuries out of fear of having to come off the field. He has insisted that he keep playing.”

If you're Rodgers, this is exactly what you do if you don't believe you have 'it' anymore.

Can blame your struggles on all the things that aren't your play in the field to try and make a 2025 bid to start.

I've been following Russini since she went to The Athletic. She's had some good info but in this case I'm not at all buying what she is saying about the entire Rodgers/Woody dynamic and think she is being used by one or more parties to get their version of the story out, whether she knows it or not I don't know. Am I alone? I'll explain some stuff that does not make sense to me.

Her report after Douglass was fired did not pass the smell test to me. In that report she of course suggested Woody wanted to bench Rodgers. I don't believe it. They would have been 2--2 at that time, which in itself seems early especially since Rodgers was not playing that bad. What really makes me dubious on this report however is Woody and Rodgers are having Monday morning phone chats. The owner calling the QB he wanted to bench on Monday morning for a casual convo after a return from London sound like an owner who wanted Rodgers benched the previous week?

Then you got the Davante Adams trade which it seems obvious to me, since Douglass was already stripped from power, was closed by or at Woody's behest. There is zero way you can convince me that trade was not done to help Rodgers play, get comfortable, whatever you want to call it. The trade was consumated by Woody for Rodgers. Which again is highly inconsistent with wanting to bench Rodgers just a few weeks previous and now wanting to cut or trade him.

So now we got Woody wanting to bench or cut Rodgers. So they can turn to Tyrod? Why? This is not like Daniel Jones or Wilson's contract situations from last year. No risk with a Rodgers injury. It's not you need to get a look at Tyrod to see for the future or he's going to sell tickets or create interest in the fan base. As we all know other then players like Breece and Wilson who were already on the roster they have tried to build and entire offensive infrastructure for Rodgers.

I just don't believe it.

Now Rodgers may be beat up physically, tired of losing, seeing his legacy starting to get dinged and want it to just end as soon as possible. But this whole notion Woody wanted to bench him, cut him, and wants nothing do with him after this season as if he was not on totally on board with bringing him in and this was all just a creation by Joe Douglass is a tale being spun by someone's camp and reported by Russini IMO>

You may be right, although I think it’s fair to say this is conjecture and your opinion is nothing more than well reasoned speculation.

But I do agree with the premise that a lot of stories these days come directly from agents or back office folks with an agenda. It’s pretty gross stuff and is super common.

Many sports reporters have virtually no integrity or sense of fairness. They just want their scoops and if that means publishing b.s. from time to time, to them it’s just how the game is played.
For sure on the bolded, was certainly trying to frame my post as speculation/my thoughts. The story just did not add up to me.

I did find it interesting that this morning we have another "Insider" putting different spin on this and fwiw I buy this one:

Sources: The narrative of a fractured relationship between Aaron Rodgers and #Jets owner Woody Johnson is “overblown.” In fact, the two enjoyed dinner together in New York City just a couple of weeks ago. There has been ongoing communication between them, and both agree the season has been deeply disappointing — with Aaron playing through injuries and the team underperforming.

Rodgers on McAfee:

"I haven't told anybody in my life that I wanna play in 2025 and not on the Jets..

That's 100% false and I actually said the opposite..

I don't even know if I wanna play yet but New York would be my first option"

Amazing how much gets written about this dude based on, "I heard it from a source, that heard it from a friend, that knows a guy close to the Jets organization... "

And yes, I may be poking fun at Dianna Russini (and other self-crowned "Scoop Jackson's" like her).

No doubt. I don't get it.

Whenever I see people with a bunch of detractors for a lot of mysterious reasons, the vast majority without a shred of evidence, I automatically become curious in said person. Turns out the detractors are the ones with the issues almost every time.

It's crazy how many heads ARod lives in.

I think the sources and friends and others are Aaron's alter egos

Rich Cimini
Rodgers feeling frisky after the bye week? While blocking in the open field, he reached a top speed of 16.6 MPH on the Malachi Corley end around. That's the 5th-fastest speed Rodgers has reached this season and the fastest since Week 4. #Jets

Should we rely on Rodgers this week?
I’m considering it … Stroud has managed to get me this far, but it certainly hasn’t been pretty, and it doesn’t feel sustainable. Rodgers has been on a bit of a heater now that the games don’t matter anymore. He’s got his boy Devante, a hobbled/injured Breece Hall … feels like there are worse QB options.

I'd go with Rodgers over Stroud. He's the better player with a better matchup.

I just picked him up to block my opponent.

It's so Rodgers to start rolling now when there's nothing to play for. I'd expect him to continue rolling.

If I was W. Johnson I'd be fuming. Wouldn't be surprised if he forces a benching if this continues lol.

To be fair, Rodgers is probably the healthiest he's been since he's been on the Jets. So, I think its possible these last couple weeks is the real him. I mean, could also just be playing lesser defenses, but that doesn't stop anytime soon.

I think there is a real chance the Jets beat the Rams this week.

So do you think he plays another year?
Do you think The Jets will want him back based on the last few weeks?

Yes to both, with the caveat that they'd eat a lot of money to get rid of him if he wanted to play, but they wanted to move on. 23 million to keep him, 49 million to move on.

They also aren't gonna get Ward or Sanders in the draft, so like, what's the alternative. Milroe (in round 2) is a solid prospect but not NFL ready. Its a really thin QB draft after those 3 guys, as guys like Carson Beck and Quinn Ewers stocks have really plummeted (potential day 3 guys) and Garrett Nussmeier is staying at LSU.

Could see it staying Rodgers/Tyrod/Travis for another year.

posted this on jets page but besides not being the Rodgers to pull out close games as in past, his numbers are in line with best Jets Qb season in 30 yrs!

So far hes at 3,200 yds 23 TDs and 8 ints. Most of us would have taken these numbers before the season - big difference is he didnt come through in clutch and awful defense/coaching

To put in perspective - best Jets QB seasons in last 30 yrs:

Fitzpatrick 3,900 31 Tds 15 int
Vinny 3,200 29 TDs 7 ints
Chad 3,200 22 TDs 6 ints

so many articles get written now based on speculation rather than actual fact. its about how many people click on the article when it is online now. Sad state of affairs. if the article title is outrageous, the article probably is too. it is now a case where you need to keep track of who the good writers are out there. to many are coming in with made up story lines and saying 'the speculation is this..... ' but speculation by who? people..... people are speculating this. total bogus

He did a bit more than that. He made fun of the Jets.

""Being released would be a first; being released by a teenager, that would also be a first," Rodgers said with a laugh during his weekly spot on "The Pat McAfee Show." So, hey, I'm open to everything and I find the comedy in all of it. If that happens, hey, it's a great story.""

"Fun" being the key word there. Anyone that watched this spot on McAfee knows that whole conversation was in jest.

The only one being "made fun of" was the media.

I don't know a single person that hasn't enjoyed this selfish ego-centric ahole fall about as far he could fall and very fast. Good riddance loser

Good to hear from someone that knows him so well. :bored:

Maybe you aren't paying attention but he doesn't exactly hide his personality or keep his feelings secret. He'll be on the podcast this week blaming it on everyone but himself
