TBH, it’s hard to start a qb with a thumb issue.
I think a lot of it is he’s always pointing fingers and not thumbs. He is media friendly, so no one really calls out his play. What FA wants to play with him - the other part is how can they afford a top flight weapon when he’s making $40 Mil? Certainly one has to wonder why they didn’t draft a WR a couple of years ago, and why they drafted Love. Now they are at a point where they can’t blow up the team because of the salary cap hit. He'd have better receivers to throw to if he hadn't asked for all the team's cap space for himself. Can't whine about your lack of WR talent when you're the reason behind it. Well, most people can't. I guess it's natural for Rodgers.
I agree with you, but it seems like Rodgers is the only highly paid QB that gets this much hate for his salary. There are a lot of mediocre QB's making pretty massive salaries too, and some other QB's making almost as much. Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray and Deshaun Watson are all within a few million. QB's like Carr, Dak, and Cousins are only making about 10 million less. The team has done a terrible job getting any receivers other than Adams for as long as I can remember.
Aaron Rodgers completed 14-of-20 attempts for 224 yards and three touchdowns in the Packers' 31-28 Week 10 win against the Cowboys.
In what was yet another low-volume day for the Green Bay passing offense, Rodgers connected with rookie Christian Watson for two long scores and another short touchdown for good measure as the Packers pulled a major upset against former head coach Mike McCarthy's Cowboys. Rodgers got the ball out quickly against a swarming Dallas front seven that has wreaked havoc against opposing passers for much of 2022.

Aaron Rodgers completed 24-of-39 attempts for 227 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers' 27-17, Week 11 loss to the Titans.
Rodgers looked out of sort on a blistering autumn night in Green Bay, missing multiple receivers high, low, and everything in between. Allen Lazard and Aaron Jones also struggled on this night, with Randall Cobb leading the team in receiving in his first game off the injured reserve and rookie wide receiver Chistian Watson catching the only touchdowns from Rodgers for the second consecutive week. The down-bad, 4-7 Packers now must prepare to travel to Philadelphia to face the NFC-leading Eagles on Sunday Night Football in Week 12.

Rodgers' diabolical plan to sabotage the Packers and exact revenge is really coming in to focus. First, he signs a big contract and then he goes out and breaks his thumb.
The thumb injury to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is more severe than known.
Rodgers' injury, suffered during a 27-22 loss to the Giants in London on Oct. 9, is actually an avulsion fracture of the thumb, sources say. It is serious enough that surgery is almost always the answer to fix this type of injury, according to people with knowledge of Rodgers' fracture.
An avulsion fracture can happen when extreme force -- such as a hit from Giants linebacker Oshane Ximines -- causes the ligament to rip away from the attachment, taking some bone with it. Essentially, it is a fracture and a torn ligament, resulting in joint instability.
That can affect grip, accuracy, and basically everything a quarterback does with his hands on the football.
Rodgers has not missed a game since suffering the injury and will play today against the Eagles. Rodgers told reporters on Wednesday that surgery has not been considered this season.
He has been listed on the injury report (right thumb) since Week 6 and has been limited in several practices. This week, for instance, Rodgers was limited on Wednesday, practiced fully on Thursday and Friday, and was off the injury report by Friday night.
The thumb injury first came to light when a Packers fan and podcaster named Big B asked Rodgers about the injury during his Make-A-Wish weekend, and Rodgers admitted it was broken.
"His thumb was still really bruised and swollen last Saturday," said Big B, of the Underage Packers Podcast.
Rodgers is on pace for one of the worst statistical seasons of his illustrious career, missing throws he usually makes. He also is on track for the second-worst passer rating of his career. He has shrugged off the injury whenever asked.
"I think I've had worse injuries I've played with," Rodgers told reporters this week, adding that while his thumb was worse earlier in the season, it hasn't really gotten much better, either. "There would be a couple plays every game, maybe a snap slightly inside or a hit that might jolt it a little bit. Just dealing with the occasional kind of dull pain and working through it."
As one source explained, if it hasn't healed by now, surgery is almost always the only way to help it heal. Clearly in this case, that would come only after Rodgers is done playing for this season.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (ribs) will undergo an MRI and CT scan Monday.
Rodgers was already dealing with a thumb fracture heading into Week 12. He sustained a ribs injury following multiple hits against the Eagles. Rodgers noted that he was worried about a punctured lung following the game, but that appears to have been ruled out. Unfortunately, x-rays were not able to rule out rib fractures. Rodgers will undergo an MRI and likely a CT scan to determine if he suffered fractures to his ribs, which will help determine his injury prognosis.

Aaron Rodgers told the Pat McAfee Show that he got "good news" with his scans and plans on playing this week.
Guess we'll have to shelve the Stream Jordan Love industrial complex. The Bears are a tempting matchup for Rodgers (or anyone) the way their defense has played of late. Rodgers will have some injury risk and possibly some risk of him being pulled in a non-competitive contest risk if Justin Fields doesn't play, but would probably make the QB1 line in Week 13 if he suited up.

Aaron Rodgers completed 18-of-31 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' 28-19, Week 13 win over the Bears.
The Packers struggled to get much going in the first half, putting up just 10 points, all of which came in the second quarter. Rodgers routinely failed to connect with his receiver on deep shots and was forced to settle for check-downs throughout this game. Luckily for him, Green Bay's defense shut down the Bears in the second half. AJ Dillon and Christian Watson also pitched in for one rushing touchdown each. It was a modest performance from Rodgers individually, but the win keeps Green Bay's playoff aspirations alive. Rodgers will rank as a mid-range QB2 when he returns from the Packers' upcoming bye week.

Aaron Rodgers completed 22-of-30 passes for 229 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the Packers' 24-12, Week 15 win over the Rams.
Rodgers' interception came on a miscommunication with Allen Lazard. Rodgers wanted him to keep going deep, but Lazard slowed down to avoid running into the Rams' coverage. With Lazard nowhere near the throw, LA safety Taylor Rapp easily intercepted the pass. Where the blame lies is debatable, but the throw was not a physical error from the 39-year-old passer. His touchdown came on a short catch-and-run from Aaron Jones. It wasn't an impressive night from the reigning MVP, but the Packers' handled their business versus an inferior opponent. Rodgers' fantasy backers will look for him to do more in a better matchup with the Dolphins next week. He will rank as a high-end QB2.

that's a lotta mula no matter who you are
(thehuddle) Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers indicated he would take some time following the team's season-ending loss to decide whether he'd return for the 2023 season in an effort to 'take the emotion out of it.' Rodgers' contract contains a $58.3 million bonus that he would forfeit by retiring.
He's taking a page out of the Tom Brady playbook it appears. Currently dating the heiress to the Milwaukee Bucks. So maybe he *doesn't* need that money?that's a lotta mula no matter who you are

If I'm Rodgers, I'm trying to force my way to the NY Jets.
Hi contract is way too restrictive to a trade. Hard seeing that happen without huge compensation for the Packers.that's a lotta mula no matter who you are

Zero chance Aaron Rodgers is cut. He has a fully guaranteed option bonus of $58.3M, a fully guaranteed base salary of $1.165M, and another $40.3M of dead cap from 3 past seasons of backloaded cap accounting. Packers cannot eat a $99,778,570 of dead cap by cutting Rodgers.
That was always part of ARod’s goal.Seems like the timing thing is structured to make the drafting of Love as painful and hopeless as possible, JMHO.
Felt like my take on that too with Cobb.I think Rodgers plays again in GB next year, but my guess is as good as anyone's. I also thought for sure he was going to be traded before signing the extension last year. I think Cobb is going to retire and a lot of people mistook Rodgers being emotional towards Cobb as indicating something about Rodger's future intentions.
“I think I can win MVP again in the right situation. Right situation - is that Green Bay or somewhere else, I’m not sure.”
“It’s gotta be both sides actually wanting to work together moving forward, and I think there’s more conversation to be had.”

Faust says no.Can we have a moratorium on Rodgers “will he/won’t he” updates until he’s announced one way or the other?
It was pretty hard to take last year.
